Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Picture.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen Kubrick’s first “real” movie, the small noir KILLER’S KISS. I say real because he did do Fear and Desire first, but that’s more like Kubrick teaching himself how to become a director by fucking around with his friends in the woods. I guess you could say the same thing about Evil Dead and Bad Taste, but there’s something much more indistinct and lost about Fear and Desire that makes it hard for me to count as a real deal Kubrick film whereas I watch Bad Taste or Evil Dead and I see the filmmakers growing into their legendary status.
I really do need to rewatch Killer’s Kiss, though. I watched it around the same time as I watched The Killing, his second film, and I worry I’m mixing up scenes from each in my memory.
Today’s pic for sure comes from Killer’s Kiss, though. I know that much! Featured is young Stanley Kubrick filming Irene Kane in the flick.
