Joss Whedon Confirms To Jimmy Fallon That AVENGERS 2’s ‘Brother-Sister Team’ Is In Fact Quicksilver And Scarlet Witch!!

I am – Hercules!!

Joss Whedon, making on Friday his first-ever in-studio “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" appearance, confirmed to the chat-show host that Magneto’s mutant offspring, the super-fast Quicksilver and the reality-bending Scarlet Witch, are headed to 2015’s “Avengers 2.”

Whedon also brought a clip from “Much Ado About Nothing” that looked pretty nifty:

Whedon hinted last month he was introducing a “brother-sister team” to the sequel, and fans were quick to guess correctly whom he was referencing, even before unnamed sources subsequently confirmed.

The late-night announcement came the day after director Bryan Singer tweeted that Evan Peters (“Kick Ass”) would play Quicksilver in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

Whedon did not announce who might be playing Quicksilver in his movie, though Fallon suggested Channing Tatum (and Selena Gomez for Scarlet Witch).

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch made their first appearance in X-Men #4 (March 1964) as members of The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

Tony Stark recruited both Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (along with Hawkeye, another former supervillain) in The Avengers #16 (May 1965).

In Marvel's Ultimate comic-book universe (the one that introduced a Nick Fury who looked exactly like Samuel L. Jackson), the siblings appear to enjoy boning each other.
