Hey Yo! Draven here.

Okay, we have a new motion poster for Kimberly Peirce’s (BOYS DON'T CRY, STOP-LOSS) upcoming remake of CARRIE. Nothing too exciting, but it gives us another look at the film. I am anticipating that this remake is going to be as needed as the recent remake of TOTAL RECALL (which means, not at all). They could definitely do something different with the source material than what Brian De Palma did, but it doesn’t look like they are even going to try.

CARRIE was actually the first Stephen King novel I read when I was in the 5th grade and it completely changed my reading habits. I then saw De Palma’s 1976 adaptation and loved it. It is exactly how an adaptation of a novel should be, faithful, but still different enough to adapt to the medium and able to stand on its own. This remake has a great cast and an interesting director but everything I have seen and heard so far just seems like it is not really trying to be its own experience. I haven’t seen the movie yet so hopefully it will surprise the hell out of me when it’s released October 18th, 2013.

Here is the trailer in case you missed it too:
