Hey Yo! Draven here.
Chris Pine, Amanda Seyfried and Chiwetel Ejiofor will star in a big screen adaptation of the 1974 young adult, post-apocalyptic novel, Z FOR ZACHARIAH according to Variety. COMPLIANCE director, Craig Zobel will helm the film.
Here is the official plot description of the Robert C. O’Brien novel, “Ann Burden is sixteen years old and completely alone. The world as she once knew it is gone, ravaged by a nuclear war that has taken everyone from her. For the past year, she has lived in a remote valley with no evidence of any other survivors. But the smoke from a distant campfire shatters Ann's solitude. Someone else is still alive and making his way toward the valley. Who is this man? What does he want? Can he be trusted? Both excited and terrified, Ann soon realizes there may be worse things than being the last person on Earth.
Combining two of the hottest genres right now makes a lot of sense. With HARRY POTTER, TWILIGHT and THE HUNGER GAMES all being gigantic successes it only makes sense to find the next hot young adult property (although going all the way back to 1974 might be risky). Combine that, with the current craze surrounding post-apocalyptic properties and of course somebody is going to develop this. I haven’t read the novel or know much about it but it has it’s fans. This is another film that will be shopped at Cannes so we should be hearing more about it soon.
