With a November 8, 2013 release date and a cast comprised of Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Sam Shepard, Chris Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ewan McGregor, Margo Martindale, Abigail Breslin and Juliette Lewis, it's obvious John Wells's adaptation of Tracy Letts's Pulitzer Prize-winning play AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY is after awards season glory. I wouldn't bet against it on that front, but in terms of attracting a mainstream audience, this trailer's a bit of a bait-and-switch, and that never goes over well with ticket buyers. This is a caustically funny family drama from the man who wrote KILLER JOE and BUG; what's being sold below is something altogether cuddlier. There's nothing cuddly about AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY.
Regardless of how the movie is being sold, I can't wait to see this cast tear into this material.
