As many have guessed, Nick Fury somehow faked Phil Coulson’s death in “The Avengers” to motivate the demoralized superheroes.
(You’d think saving the world might prove motivation enough, but who am I to judge?)
Not revealed in Slashfilm’s report is how Fury fooled the trickster god/midget ice giant Loki, who seemed fully convinced he’d killed the SHIELD agent.
Hopefully Clark Gregg, who plays Coulson, will also turn up in November’s “Thor: The Dark World” so we can see the look on Loki’s face.
As for Joss Whedon’s new live-action TV show “Agents of SHIELD,” which stars Gregg as Coulson, ABC has yet to announce whether it’s been greenlit to series. That announcement should come between now and ABC’s upfront presentation on May 14.
