The Kidd here...
It's seems almost a daily activity 'round these parts to slam the studios for investing no time, effort or ounce of creativity into putting together a one sheet that actually invokes curiosity into a film on the horizon but also captures the tone of what the film is about. Too often it's giant floating heads which are selling us the stars, and not necessarily the movie.
Therefore, let me give credit where credit is due over to Warner Bros., who have put out a brilliantly creepy one sheet for James Wan's summer horror film THE CONJURING today.
That tree with the noose hanging obviously means bad things for the house sitting in the distance, but when you take a good, hard look at it and notice the shadow on the ground at its base... oh, man... that's some good stuff right there. The trailer really did a lot for me a couple weeks back, and this one sheet seems to signal to me that someone gets how to sell this type of money. Now, here's to hoping it provides the scares I want when we hit July.
