John Ary here with a look at the new Phantasm II Blu-ray from Shout Factory.
As a newbie to the Phantasm franchise, I'm not so sure this was the best place to start, but it did get me hooked on Don Coscarelli's strange universe of little people in robes, the tall man, big black containers, dug up graves and portals to distant worlds. The print is crystal clear and the disc has a ton of extras (two making of docs, behind the scene footage, audio commentary, deleted scenes, etc.). Perhaps horror geek and film critic Scott Weinberg said it best on Twitter, "At this point @scream_factory is the Criterion Collection for horror geeks who grew up in the 1980s." Indeed it is.... Indeed.
