When we last left “The Office” precisely one month ago, Oscar was hanging helplessly in a doorway while his computer displayed a pop-up ad for a new 10-years-in-the-making project (arriving in May) about the lives and loves of the Scranton office of a paper company.
Most of the footage in tonight’s episode was cannibalized from “The Farm,” the failed pilot for an “Office” spinoff that would have offered a closer look at Dwight Schrute’s family and the bed-and-breakfast Dwight runs at the Schrute beet farm.
Co-starring with Rainn Wilson in the episode/pilot are the fabulous Majandra Delfino (“Roswell”) as Dwight’s sarcastic, more worldly sister, Matt Jones (“Breaking Bad”) as Dwight’s cousin Zeke, and Thomas Middleditch (“The Campaign”) as Dwight’s marijuana-farming brother. Tom Bower, who played stammering airport janitor Marvin in “Die Hard 2,” plays Dwight’s Great Uncle Heinrich, a likely Nazi war criminal.
