He’s A Cop, Not A Doctor!!
STAR TREK’s Bones McCoy Lands Human Lead In J.J. Abrams’ Action/Sci-Fi LAPD Robot Pilot!!
Sci-fi icon Karl Urban, who play the titular futuristic lawman in “Dredd,” Necromonger Commander Vaako in the Riddick movies and starship surgeon Leonard McCoy in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek,” will now be partnered with an LAPD robot in Bad Robot’s futuristic Fox pilot about Los Angeles cops who patrol with mechanical men.
Urban’s metal partner on the series is played by Michael Ealy (“Common Law”). Minka Kelly (“Friday Night Lights”) plays a fabulous uniformed officer.
Longtime “Fringe” producers J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman are behind the futuristic drama pilot, which was penned by Wyman.
New Zealander Urban is no stranger to television, having played Julius Caesar on 12 episodes of “Xena” and Woodrow Call in the 2008 CBS miniseries “Comanche Moon.”
His other big-screen credits include the latter two “Lord of the Rings” movies, as well as “The Bourne Supremancy,” “Doom” and “Red.”
