Judge Reinhold, who played Beverly Hills police detective Billy Rosewood in all three “Beverly Hills Cop” movies, is joining Eddie Murphy in CBS’s “Beverly Hills Cop” TV pilot, according to The Wrap.
Both Murphy and Reinhold will be reprising their movie roles. According to the site, Rosewood “has scored a big promotion from his old job,” which I suspect means he’s still with the BHPD and he could become a regular if CBS takes the project to series.
Murphy’s Axel Foley is now Detroit chief of police, and Axel is expected to be a recurring character on “Cop” if CBS takes it to series.
Writer-producer Shawn Ryan (“The Shield,” “Terriers,” “The Chicago Code,” “The Last Resort”) is masterminding the project, which centers on Axel Foley’s son Aaron (“Percy Jackson” vet Brandon T. Jackson), a Detroit police detective who finds himself lured by a lead to a wealthy corner of Southern California.
Barry Sonnenfeld (the “Men in Black” movies) directs the pilot.
Others in the pilot’s cast include David Denman (“The Office”), Sheila Vand (“Argo”), Christine Lahti (“Chicago Hope,” “Hawaii Five-0”) and Kevin Pollak (“A Few Good Men,” “Cop Out”).
