Learn Which Non-Ian Takes Over the Role Of PALPATINE In Saturday’s STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS Finale!!

I am – Hercules!!

Send up the appropriate-colored smoke. Lucasfilm has revealed the latest actor to play Palpatine, and he’s no stranger to fishnets.

Tim Curry, who’s been been getting loads of voice work for a long time, will inherit the role of Ol’ Lightning Fingers.

That's Curry voicing the character in the clip above.

Curry replaces the late Ian Abercrombie (Mr. Pitt on “Seinfeld” and Alfred Pennyworth on “Birds of Prey”), who first took on the role for the CGI half-hour “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in 2008.

Though Abercrombie died more than a year ago, he had so many episodes “in the can” that re-casting was unnecessary until production began on this weekend’s fifth-season finale.

Clive Revill (“Gentlemen Broncos”) originated the role in 1980’s “The Empire Strikes Back,” but he was replaced in all subsequent live action “Star Wars” movies by Ian McDiarmid.

If you jump over to Palpatine’s IMDb page, you’ll discover that quite a number of actors have played Darth Sidious over the decades, including Seth McFarlane
