Double dumbass on The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day! Check out this rare Star Trek BTS photo straight from Paramount's Archives!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Picture.

I originally planned to have a neat picture from Army of Darkness run today, but something cool came up and I’m bumping it all Matt Damon style. Sorry, Ash.

So some of you more tech savvy folks might be aware that Paramount has a Star Trek app for their upcoming film. Within that app you’re given missions to go scan certain articles and photos from around the web to give you points that allow you to rise in rank through Starfleet. From what I hear Paramount is going to be unveiling some exclusive photos, videos and info for Star Trek Into Darkness in the coming weeks, so why not go sign up at StarTrekMovie.com or hit up your iTunes App store.

If you have the app pulled up on your smart phone or tablet you can snap today’s BTS photo and continue on your way to running your own imaginary smart phone starship someday!

Today’s photo aptly features the great Leonard Nimoy behind the camera while in his full Spock outfit during the making Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. As a kid it was Khan and Voyage Home that were the pinnacle of Trek on film. I know it’s silly, but I’m a sucker for fish out of water stories and seeing Spock have to deal with 1980s punks in San Francisco had me howling. Still does. Plus everybody got to swear a lot.

This photo came directly from the Paramount archives and isn’t one you’re likely to have seen before.

So, get your scanners ready you techy Trekkies! And for the rest of you, just scan with your human eyeballs and enjoy this awesome shot of Spock directing.

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.

Tomorrow’s pic will hail to the king, baby.
