Christian Bale -vs Everest!! + An Awesome Interactive Image Of The Mountain!!
Christian Bale looks to be closing in on an Everest-related project to be directed by Baltasar Kormakur (producer/director of CONTRABAND).
Bale is in early talks to star in a tale based on the 1996 disastrous expedition to scale Mount Everest. Three different expeditions were hit by a sudden blinding storm and by the time it was all over, eight climbers died. The tale was first made famous by Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air, his first-person account of being among the lucky ones to make it back down the mountain. This film will be sourced from various books and interviews with survivors.

The current draft of the script comes to us from Justin Isbell. One of the most amazing things I saw last year was THIS ultr-mega-giganto high-res image of Everest - offering so much detail that sprawling base-camps can clearly be seen when the pic is properly enlarged [via rsvlts.com] Hopefully this new film will capture/convey some of the overwhelming scale suggested by this image.
