The Kidd here...
It has been a long road to the big screen for an adaptation of SPY HUNTER. This project has been in development for nearly a decade now with everyone from John Woo to Paul W.S. Anderson lined up to direct (ZOMBIELAND and GANGSTER SQUAD Ruben Fleischer is on the job now). Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was attached to star for a couple of years before moving onto other things that were actually happening, and leaving SPY HUNTER behind in the dust. Screenwriters like Michael Brandt, Derek Haas, Mark Swift, Damian Shannon, Zak Penn and Stuart Beattie have all taken their cracks at the script, and now Warner Bros. has added yet another to the list of trying to get SPY HUNTER right enough for Fleischer to take into production. Deadline reports that Carter Blanchard, who recently penned GLIMMER for DreamWorks, is the latest writer in the film's history to bring the video game to life in movie form.
Good luck to him. If history is any indication, he's sure as hell going to need it.
