Singer/voice actress Maaya Sakamoto, who voiced the Major in young bodies in original movie and in Stand Alone Complex, will be reprising the role of Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell: Arise, a four part semi-direct to video series with the first 50 minute episode premiering in Japanese theaters June 22nd, ahead of its July Blu-ray release.

Kise Kazuchika, an animator on the GitS movies, will be helming the work and providing character design with sci-fi novelist Tow Ubukata (Mardock Scramble) writing. Cornelius (Appleseed: Ex Machina) composes music.
