Hey folks, Harry here... not really much news, but more fuel for the fire regarding the tone of the Legendary production of GODZILLA. If you've never seen the original Japanese film GODZILLA, not the Americanized version with Raymond Burr, but the unedited GODZILLA, you know that the king of the monsters was exactly that... a monster. He was brutal and a nightmare. Darabont has called him a force of nature. Now as a GODZILLA fan, I love all manners of Godzilla - from the original classic through the lighter toned films like DESTROY ALL MONSTERS or GODZILLA VS THE SMOG MONSTER to the reboot that the Japanese did with wonderful model work and visual effects. AND upon that World Premiere screening of Emmerich and Devlin's GODZILLA that Merrick & I attended together. The event was astonishing. Even if ultimately the was not.
That said, I liked that Olsen took the time to go from being happy & jocular to stress the serious tone of their Godzilla. Here she is at the BAFTAS:
