HBO Releases First Official Image From Steven Soderbergh’s Maybe Last Movie Ever!! The Michael Douglas/Matt Damon Liberace Biopic BEHIND THE CANDELABRA!!
Michael Douglas plays famed pianist Liberace and Matt Damon plays his secret lover Scott Thorson, whom Liberace eventually transformed via plastic surgery into a replica of Liberace’s younger self.
Steven Soderbergh (“Contagion,” “Haywire,” “Magic Mike,” “Side Effects” directs from a teleplay by Richard LaGravenese (“The Ref,” “Water For Elephants,” “Beautiful Creatures”).
This HBO movie is Soderbergh’s last directorial effort for a while – maybe forever if we’re to believe what we’re told.
The supporting cast includes Dan Aykroyd, Paul Reiser, Nicky Katt, Rob Lowe, Scott Bakula, Debbie Reynolds, Eddie Jemison and “30 Rock’s” Cheyenne Jackson as “Billy Leatherwood.”
It hits HBO in May.
