Courage of the heart is very rare. The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day has a power when it’s there.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Picture.

Don Bluth was a big deal for me as a kid. Pete’s Dragon was the first movie I saw theatrically (Bluth designed Elliot) and I was just at the right age for An American Tail, All Dogs Go To Heaven, The Land Before Time and today’s featured film: The Secret of NIMH.

And that doesn’t even count the fact that I was an arcade kid who lost many quarters to Dragon’s Lair. So I feel just as nostalgic about Bluth’s unique style as I do the Disney films. Naturally I was very happy to see this photo of Don Bluth and crew shooting a live action lantern plate for NIMH came across my desk. That’s Don getting the focus measurements for the camera.

Thanks to reader “Monty” for passing this one along.

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.

Tomorrow’s pic will present itself in good time.
