Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Another big deal is being struck at Sundance this year. According to Deadline Fox Searchlight is an inch away from picking up The Way, Way Back, another coming of age comedy, starring Sam Rockwell, AnnaSophia Robb, Steve Carell, Rob Corddry, Maya Rudolph, Toni Collette, Amanda Peet and Allison Janney.
If you care about the money thing, it's looking like they got it for around $10 million plus a guarantee of P&A (which means a real theatrical distribution). So that's good news for all of us not in Park City this week.
Judging from my twitter feed, this is one of the more enjoyable movies at the fest and it's easy to see why there's a bidding war around it with that cast. I know very little about it other than that vague impression and since we're obviously going to be seeing it on a screen near us soon, I'm going to try to keep it that way. But here is a picture:
