The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day goes a little mad sometimes. We all go a little mad sometimes.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scene’s Picture.

Today’s pic is a doozy. My jaw hit the floor a bit when I saw it, if I’m going to be completely honest. I’m a big fan of Hitchcock’s Psycho and I’ve read a couple of books on the making of the picture and in none of them was there a mention of the moment captured in today’s pic.

What I have for you, dear reader, is a photo of Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh entertaining a most interesting guest. Around this time, Steve McQueen was wrapping up The Magnificent Seven and was still shooting Wanted Dead or Alive, so he had one foot in films and one still in TV. In fact when Psycho was filming it would have been just about when he shot his second Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode, Man from the South, which was memorably homaged/adapted by Quentin Tarantino in his Four Rooms segment.

It’s possible I have it backwards and that it’s actually McQueen entertaining Perkins and Leigh during the filming of that episode, but this photo was represented to me as having been from the set of Psycho. Either way, it’s cool as all get out.

Many thanks to the Old Hollywood-obsessed Decaying Hollywood Mansions. Head on over to Facebook and give him a Like as thanks for digging up this incredible shot! Enjoy!

Tomorrow’s pic features an American hero. Plastic, but still a hero.
