Mondo Kickstarts Their New Record Label for 2013 with THE DEADLY SPAWN On Sale Tomorrow!!

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here giving you a heads up regarding a super-cool new vinyl release that is sure to vanish quickly. I'm a huge fan of Mondo and their amazing collection of limited edition screen prints. I've got about a dozen posters myself (although not all of them are framed yet) and I'm always on the lookout for what's coming next.

This past year Mondo has taken the same passionate approach of proliferating printed art and applied it to their new vinyl soundtrack label. I bought their first album MANIAC (1980) by Jay Chattaway over a year ago. It's been slow going as they've been testing the waters; however, this is the year they're stepping up and committing to releasing an album a month. They've already got DRIVE (2011) (with a newly commissioned Tyler Stout cover) off to the manufacturers in anticipation of a forthcoming release.

On Friday, January 4th, Mondo's third album will go on sale and it's beauty — THE DEADLY SPAWN (1983) by Michael Perilstein sporting new artwork by Phantom City Creative. I love the album cover, limited colored vinyl, and of course the music is super kitschy cool. The standard release features pressed 180 gram black vinyl with randomly inserted limited colored vinyl available as well (just have to get lucky on that one).

They'll drop the live sale of the album and announce it via twitter as they do all their posters. As with their posters, they're expecting the album to sell rather quickly. Their first two albums, MANIAC (1980) by Jay Chattaway and THE BEYOND (1980) by Fabio Frizzi sold out pretty quickly.

Be sure to follow Mondo on twitter (@MondoNews) if interested. They usually drop their products in the morning between 9:30 and 11:30AM. Check out their website for more information.
