Alex De La Iglesia's latest is coming soon! AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... If you've been reading AICN for the nearly 17 years that I've been writing it, you know all about my passionate love for the work of Alex De La Iglesia, the Spanish filmmaker behind ACCION MUTANTE, DIA DE LA BESTIA, 800 BALAS, THE LAST CIRCUS and a lot more. I've often referred to him as the Spanish Peter Jackson in those 17 years, in the hopes that he would get to make some of his large scale dream projects, but as of yet - Alex De La Iglesia is making the filmography for Alex De La Iglesia and I couldn't be happier. His latest will be on VOD & in theaters starting on January 30th, 2013. So right around the corner. Watching the trailer... there's a part of me that wishes the film were titled, "YOU CAN ALL GO TO HELL," but that's just because it makes me giggle non-stop! I love Alex's dark inky black comedies that he shoots - and this looks to be another great one. Reminds me of a comedic take on ACE IN THE HOLE, where journalists are more about the sensational story than helping those in need. We've all seen this story play out in reality far too often unfortunately.
Here ya go:

In a perfect world, de la Iglesia would be as big as Tarantino.

It's a shame that after all these movies, awards and critical acclaim, he still seems to be more of an obscure insider's tip.

Feel like I've been alone carrying his flag for a really long time. Nearly every new friend I make, I have to introduce them to his work - and then we're like friends forever. So it ain't all bad.

I'll check his stuff out :)

Is there a reason this movie is omitted from his resume in the intro? It may not be his best movie, but is was probably his biggest and has a kick as performance by Javier Bardem. De la Igelsia never fails to entertain, I'll be sure to check out his latest.
