Fox sent me an Edgar Allen Poe head to promote "The Following" and my poodle is obsessed with it. Even when I hide it in closet or a different room, she finds it and watches it.

Comparing timelines, you have a long way to go before you get the Khan uniforms....
by Dallas Mugno
In this new timeline, Kirk and crew get the Enterprise outof the Academy. In the original timeline, Kirk served aboard the Farragut while Pike commanded the Enterprise for 5 years, then Kirk commanded it for another 5. The uniforms went to the grey-pajama unitard while Kirk was an admiral at Starfleet HQ at the time of the V'Ger crisis.....then come the red awesome coats from Khan. ........ Now come the "but this timeline is different" cries from the masses. Yes it is. For a few individual humans (and most Vulcans) the timeline is progressing differently, but the whole of the Federation, Starfleet, and UESPA (see TOS) are largely unaffected in their operations. The leadership of those orginizations will continue to make very similar if not identical decisions to that of the original timeline, including the people that design and rollout their uniform selections.

How can you compare timelines when one is a alternate timeline?

Lastly to those who need to over explain everything because they think everyone is unaware of a particular subject is really unnecessary.

Some people really get a good hard one when they put on their enclcycolpedia hat to show that they are the only one that has the explanation to end all speculation.

Haven't heard this show, but I imagine Herc's every response is just laboriously spelling out affiliate links to DVDs on sale and then yelling HERCVAULT.

Am I wrong?

So Dallas thank you for your ANALylis I'm sorry it took time away from you cataloguing for the thousandth time your star trek action figures.

You really didn't dig the brown uniforms? I always liked em. While being a little overly militaristic they were a huge improvement over the awful ST:TMP uniforms.
-
But tell you mom I loved the meatloaf.
-
I even liked TMP uni's over the brown ones. They should have never let Robert Wise change them to begin with.
-
sets are high tech uniforms are not? the reason the 60s show had the unis they did was because of budget...thats why they were never used again
-
the show is more hosts-get-all-the-facts-and-names-wrong while herc sits back and gets drunk
-
There! Now that's somebody that understands the show! Nice! LOL
-
... I love your law firm...
-
ST:TOS uniforms are the best. Putting female crew members in mini-dresses always worked for me. I was happy they came back for the reboot. Come to think of it though... Troi had some nice outfits and Seven of Nine, well... not really Starfleet regulation, but it worked.
-
sexism, too. blatant, crass, ignorant sexism.
-
Welcome aboard, billslocumb. By all means, call the show. I'd love to talk to you. But I bet you won't.
-
listen every week, but those flaws are there

Also reason 1,004,412 why I hated "enterprise" the tv show was the uniforms. To say that the original series uniforms evolved from "enterprise" was ridiculous.

Regardless if the Enterprise uniforms were bad or not, my girl Jolene looked fine in that blue get up.
by Shermdawg
Seriously, Trip was the luckiest guy on any Trek show EVER.
-
But then again, I hated most everything about that show. Klingon uniforms from ST:TOS were also my fav of all of their incarnations. All the others were too much armor, and the boots... with the little spiked hooks... just stupid as hell.
-
titty windows for the win, am I right?
-
Dec. 15, 2012, 6:26 p.m. CST
welivestill...ornot, you wouldn't even joke about enjoying my mom's meatloaf if you'd tried it.
by spacehog
Unless you're using ''meatloaf'' as a euphemism, and then I can't really vouch for it either way. I can see where they got the ENTERPRISE uniforms, like it sorta feels like something a modern astronaut could wear, but a tangible connection to the present is not why I watch Trek. And I agree, there's no real sense of continuity between those uniforms and the TOS ones. TWOK uniforms were probably the most, I don't know, realistic overall? And appropriate to what kind of organization Starfleet is supposed to be, I agree. But for some reason they were never really my favorite. Then again, I'm weird: I kind of dug the TMP uniforms.
-
Knew i shouldn't have typed that sober....
-
seriously???
-
though I hated the no turtleneck version they used on next generation in pictures and flashbacks
-
My moms meatloaf sucked. That'll tell you a lot about my childhood. bill... I always found the lack of turtleneck in TNG flashbacks odd as well. Not a good look.
-
Your poodle is wearing a sweater. Am I seeing that right?
-
Dec. 15, 2012, 7:56 p.m. CST
If I may suggest a ST topic for the ask mr kern show and that is,should there be another ST tv show and if yes should it continue after generations or after enterprise?

Err... I mean welcome friends. Just had a Hobbit train wreck. I'll cut and paste from the Harryback...wait what?!

It's been a lively day today. Come on in... the water's fine. But the air is a little cold. Hercs poodle is wearing a sweater...

Against my better judgment I decided to go with the HFR 3D. Only 3 theaters are advertising HFR in my area. RED FLAG #1 The closest two of the three happen to be the oldest shit ass Carmike theaters in town. I thought well maybe they've upgraded. RED FLAG #2 I pull into a nearly empty parking lot for a 6:30 show. No line, no wait. RED FLAG #3 Less than 20 people in the theater. RED FLAG #4 The left curtain is crooked when retracted. RED FLAG #5 Previews are blurry. The 3D Previews are worse. I fear I've made a mistake. The movie starts. Shit. Not only is it blurry, but there is no way in hell is it 48fps. It looks like regular dim 3D only worse. I give it a minute, thinking maybe it's me. Opening scene is distorted...hrmmph. Close up of Bilbo looks like VHS dub recorded in EP mode. Fuck this. I get up and ask for a manager and refund. The manager/projectionist already knew my problem before asking. He said he was trying fix it, but it was the best he could do *cos...umm...like...you know you can't really do nuttin' once the movie done start* Riiight. Ok thanks. I'll take that $12 refund now. Fuck. That's a long ride just to see the Star Trek trailer. Well shit. The bright spot is that my 3rd option is not a busted ass Carmike, but a newer theater in Durham (a few more clicks on the odometer). At least I know the manager takes pride in his theater. They're showing multiple versions, so hopefully I'll be visiting Middle Earth tomorrow.
-
... and I gotta get my ass in gear and get to the studio. No Sparky tonight, so I'm at the helm. See y'all later...

So does anyone else think the WALKING DEAD game looks tedious and frustrating?
by Monroville
What kind of engine are they using for that game? Character design/graphics look a little off (that little girl's nose looks like it was stuck on her like a Mr. Potato Head) and the controls and function have got to be frustrating after a while. But hey, at least the game has ninja zombies that come out of nowhere!
-
Plugging in. About 20 minutes or so....
-
Not the appropriate place to discuss it.

TWD game has been out for awhile and has received rave reviews.
by Shermdawg
But yeah, QTEs and whatnot are a standard affair in those type of adventure games. And the graphical style they're going with is the same they used for the BttF and JP games.
-
Did some of the pulled back shots in the goblin cave escape with Gandalf running along the walkways remind you of that game as much as it did me?
-
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?...

With twinkling eyes he does job for all the world to see...

I loved BTTF and am really digging Walking Dead but I've only heard bad things about Jurassic Park... Is it worth a try?

What was y'all's favorite trailer released over the last week or so?
by Shermdawg
Star Trek? Man of Steel? Oblivion? Pacific Rim? After Earth?
-
Also Chris Hardwick hasn't been tolerable since Singled Out and then it was only because no one was paying attention to him.
-
Herc just botched his name.
-
I'm partial the After Earth, myself.
-
as spock has yet to give kirk tales of two cities and i highly doubt spock reads ancient earth literature for fun cuz then he wouldve read watchmen and would be quoting rorshach
-
Signs. Village. Happening. Dig 'em.
-
in los angeles, all saturday night shows have either public service spots, loan shark ads or work at home bs TIME TO SYNDICATE
-
Hate it.
-
Also Amy Adams.
-
pa kent does not mean maybe they should have died
-
Oblivion looks awful though.
-
The Williams score Rashida Jones as Lois The Williams score
-
IS the movie. I've seen it.
-
Also, red tights.
-
NO HUH? NO
-
I still love you though. But mannnnnnnnn, Williams is as important as the cape.

Like three hundred people singing fucking Weird Al AT A MOVIE THEATER.
by Shermdawg

I've just been nice. The Village? Really?
-
word to your mother

Dug the setting, the story and the twist. Plus really great use of color in some of those scenes.
-
They did away with that term a few weeks back didn't they?
-
Dec. 16, 2012, 1:05 a.m. CST
Yes, we need less government protection of Family Guy writers.
by Shermdawg
-
I lurve Donner's Superman. The Williams theme is iconic, but it belongs with the Reeve films. I think it would only distract. Start fresh. Move on. You want Williams ...watch the old movie.
-
Dec. 16, 2012, 1:08 a.m. CST
Another fact: Herc has a bad habit of talking over guests.
by Shermdawg
-
Does he? Oh well. I wasn't making fun or him for having aspergers; I was making fun of him for being rude to a guest in his home when he and I were 17.
-
Loved the Village until the twist. Blew it.
-
Should be used at the beginning and the end. Use it like the Bond theme was used in Casino Royale.
-
They were trashing a poster - who?
-
The talking over phenomenon is a sad byproduct of the phone situation: once someone starts talking, their speaker cuts out, so you can't hear the other person talking.
-
no different than those with high functioning autism ok, well adhd is also on the spectrum, why not do away with that diagnosis
-
My brother and I quote it all the time.
-
Who gives a fuck what critics think? Oh wait...
-
Dec. 16, 2012, 1:15 a.m. CST
the kid is brilliant with no social skills and focuses on one particular field
by walt
it was obvious from the moment i saw and heard him he wasnt being rude...he didnt understand your verbal or physical cues typical of aspergers lay odds that he believed you should already know his relationship with paramount why i like alphas the only show that to this date has gotten the disorder right...even if many times they play up the more humerus aspects
-
Will visit next week. Never read the books.
-
There's an S
-
Fucker.
-
LOL Thanks everyone!!!!!
-
Cannot wait to see The Hobbit tomorrow.
-
Thanks for staying up with me. Where the heck was puttgrass?
-
I'm guessing putt was either catching some mad zzz's or doing something better with his Saturday night. Not that there's much better to be done with your Saturday night than listening to Ask Mr.K.E.R.N.

Well, I'll be on the East Coast this week with parents.
by MovieManStill
Is the show still going to be on late? There's no way that I'll make it. I'm not a "Hobbit" person, so this episode kinda lost me. Shoot me.....I watched the "Rings" trilogy once, and have no desire to, again. I also can't tolerate "The Dark Tower." Anything "medievalistic" (sp?) I can 't watch - did love the contemporary aspects of "Dark Tower," however...
-
What are they going to compose a better one? Unlikely.
-
Let it go. It and Reeve's Superman belong to 70s/80s franchise of films. Learn from Superman Returns. Without both it don't work. Let it go. Man of Steel is a new franchise. A new take on the material. Wish them well in their endeavour. The Williams score would only remind people of Reeve. Cavill is not Reeve. It would kill the film. Let it go, Indy...
