Love Martin Short, too bad the last thing I saw him in on the big screen was Santa Clause 3, and the less said about that, the better.
-
While they still can do it!

I've always champion this show good or bad but this season has really been awful. They have lost their edge.
by Cedric Ford
-
But has dropped off. Last week's Jamie Foxx episode was awful.
-
I'll miss Paul McCartney when he's gone, but he's EVERYWHERE.
-
If they still have an A game. Mr. Short is on an extremely short list of celebrities that could actually cause me to tune into SNL. Please don't fuck this up.

-
This I've got to tune in for.
-
So ridiculous
-
Seth MacFarland has been the best host this season.
-
Just the Lincoln skit alone was better than anything else this year.
-
That and Maine Justice, then they could've called it a night and gone home early, and everyone would've been happy.
-
I like that the new players have been featured so prominently for once, especially Cecily Strong, but Hader and Sudekis are being way under-used. Armisen is just phoning it in at this point. Taran Killam and Vanessa Bayer are gold.
-
Jesus...are they gonna bring Joe Piscopo back for this one too? How about a very special appearance by the surviving cast of FRIDAYS? 1982 called,it wants its sketch comedy back...
-

IS the SNL bar set so low now that Maine Justice is considered funny?
by Xiphos_2
that clip was excruciatingly unfunny and hard to get through.
-
It was silly but gave me a laugh.
-
not Earth shattering hilarious, but it was a funny sketch. Sudekis' judge was a lot of fun.
-

Great. We probably get to see a 70 year old Ed Grimley. Fucking wonderful.

Yay.

I have a great skit to reunite all the past black SNL alumni...even with a more than likely reluctant Eddie Muurphy.
by Cedric Ford
-
I could not stop laughing.

Short is a genius. No one like him. Hope "Glick" shows up tonight
by Behemoth
SCTV, one of the greatest shows of all time, and Martin Short was a big reason why. Possibly the only person I've ever seen who made Steve Martin laugh on camera.
-
Was just the right sort of absurd. Went on a bit too long and fox was out of his depth and couldn't riff well with sudeikis. Overall funny. Though they have Hader who does an incredible Stephen King and they didn't use him.

Great tribute cold opening on SNL but like all these programs that started their shows with a condolence opening as always the talk will die down and forgotten by most.

How come Martin Short is so massively hilarious whenever he's on TV, but never funny when in movies?
by SifoDyasJr
-
from my cold dead hands
-
HA HA HA HA HAAAAAA!!!! Swearing! Thank you Samuel L Jackson! Now everyone's gonna get their panties in a bunch because someone said FUCK on NBC!
-
Dec. 15, 2012, 11:34 p.m. CST
Wow, this is garbage. Samuel Jackson seems to think so too
by Larry_Sanders
I do enjoy Sudeikis's running man, though.
-
Wonder how much that is gonna cost NBC??? I thought I heard "fuck" and "bullshit"
-
What do you mean? They did a nice opening. Appropriate. Why should it move beyond that? I am fucking sick and tired of everyone making this tragedy about themselves. So much cloying, gooey self-importance. The Facebook age.
-
I thought the cold open with the choir was very classy, respectful, and appropriately somber.....
-
This has been the best episode of this season. Martin Short knows how to bring the funny!
-
I never found him funny outside of SNL, but he just clicks with that show. And I even liked McCartney's Christmas song with the children's choir, even though his voice was shot.
-
Never mind. it was just Paul McCartney.
-
Is weak on the slower more mellow songs, but when he sang with Nirvana his voice rocked and rocked hard!
-

-
That actually happened. Good grief, the world really IS ending on Friday, isn't it?
-
Martin Short brings so much energy, I actually laughed out loud during SNL. That just doesn't happen much for me anymore. Multiple solid skits, and lordy, Dave Grohl was in total Beast Mode! ... and McCartney's voice was well-suited for that too. All in all, easily my favorite episode of the season. Thanks Martin Short for raising the bar.
-
The Tony Bennett show, with Short as Tony's little brother, had me rolling, something that almost never happens with this show anymore. Love Alec Baldwin's Bennett, and the suppository ad was fall-down funny. Show slipped a little toward the end, but still the best episode since the MacFarlane opener.

I Will Forever Call Kate Middleton's Vagina "The Kingmaker"
by Crow3711
How has no one made that joke before?
-
Easily the funniest skit of the season along with Louis CK's Lincoln.
-

What a bore! Short should stick to portraying rapists who target virgins on SVU.

Well of course Short showed those youngsters a thing or two on a live stage, he was a cast member in the Billy Crystal, Chris Guest, Harry Shearer era.
by openthepodbaydoorshal
Nice nods to the past with a bit of Grimley thrown in and Jackie Rogers Jr.
-
Hulu sometimes doesn't play sketches if they feature songs that aren't licensed, I noticed the thank yous at the end had Kirsten Wiig, Baldwin, Fey... but didn't see a sketch with them?
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xqd-MjeNTzc If you listen closely, it sounds like he said "fuh" and "bullshih"
-
I'll go with Sam on this one.
-

I'm guessing whatever happened led to my local NBC affiliate to pull the plug on SNL last night.
by Shermdawg
My DVR only got half the show, the other half was the DirecTV "we are aware there's a problem, no need to call us, sorry for the interruption" screen.
-
This was a very strong show by this seasons standards so far. Martin Short (and guest stars) brought a lot of enthusiasm to the table. And FINALLY...another What up with, that!
-
I would have loved a holiday-themed Stefon last night. IMHO his is the best character on the show. The writers are doing a much better job these days with not running characters into the ground by overexposing them, but any show that features Stefon automatically gets a boost
-
Man was that scarily accurate. Close your eyes and you can't tell the difference. She's a real talent. Show of the year so far. I think it is a little bit embarrassing that the 62-year old Short brought so much of the needed energy to this show, full of 20 and 30 year-olds, that it has been lacking all year. Also anybody else getting a crush on Cecily Strong?
-
They overdid him last year, he's jumped the shark. About time we got a new "What's Up With That" however.
-
Is an old school guy, he knows how to sell a skit. He sold that royal skit I don't know if anyone could have done that and still be funny.
-
Hilariously funny on this SNL! And I think he kept throwing the other cast-members curve balls. The whole "barking" moment during the Royal Vagina sketch was probably completely improvised. Bill Hater had to duck out of the scene for a while to laugh.
-
That was hilarious, and I freaking LOVED the What's Up With That sketch? Sam Jackson was awesome and even though Keenan blew the timing on the Fuh! The best was his improv when Sam said Bullshit "Hey Man that cost money" LOL I was dying.
-
Dec. 17, 2012, 8:54 a.m. CST
Sam said Fuh but Keenan missed the cutoff, but he totallying said Bullshit! LOL
by Wcwlkr
It was great! Keenan blew the Fuh because he didn't cut him off in time it sounded like he said it. But he definitely said Bullshit and I was cracking up.
-
fact
-
...but that opening destroyed me. Just perfect. Short totally blew the names of Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear during the credits, which I found amusing.
-
...which no one outside the US can see!...
-
The first song he sang was right in him limited range, and sounded great. Then when he tried "Wonderful Christmastime," we were reminded that age can be a bitch for vocalists.
-

What he really meant was a stadium frank. Can't wait to see him play the skin flute on SNL. ;)
