@@@ AICN COMICS PODCAST @@@
Ambush Bug here. The below hour-plus long conversation took place between myself, Optimous Douche, and our host Johnny Destructo of PoptardsGo.com. Though we had to cut the conversation short due to technical difficulties, we still talked about HUMAN BOMB #1, AVENGERS #1, STORMWATCH #1, HELLBOY IN HELL #1, did another free-ballin’ edition of @$$terpiece Theatre , read some reader emails, and of course, accomplished more general jack@$$$ery!

Looks for more of the Holes rambling about comics on Poptards, follow us on Facebook here, and in future AICN COMICS columns!

FUCK BEFORE WATCHMEN
-
I'm sorry, I meant to say "FUCK BEFORE WATCHMEN!"
-
I'd seriously buy that book.
-
Sorry I know that this is way past its time since the event is over, but I read the graphic novel collections (no need to worry about spoiling anything for me since I've already been following the basic storyline via talkbacks here and other places, I'm at the point where the 5 were given Phoenix powers). I actually love the event stories and I'm enjoying A vs. X a lot. But I was thinking I'm an X-Men fan all the way and I'm actually having a hard time getting behind Cyclops. I think that with evertything that they went through with Jean Grey that he's stupid and that everyone who's following him are stupid. But I got to thinking about it and Cyclops isn't really given any sympathetic moments during the whole storyline, in fact I can't remember the last time that he was treated sympathetically. About ten years or so he cheated on Jean and left her to die with Wolverine and also kicked Prophesor X out of his own home and the team that he started and then he adopted this militaristic approach which I don't fault but its seems to me that he's never in my opinion been given moments where we see a little bit of humanity. I actually like the new storylines where this approach has been taken and the different places that they went to shake things up, I just wish they would have would have treated him better. As for A vs. X it’s more of the same with his character treatment and I really don't get why all of the X-Men flocked around Scotts plan except for Wolverine and Beast, You would think that at least Storm and Colossus who had experienced the horribleness of the Phoenix power and what it did to Jean would have at least given verbal objections, I know that no more mutants was a horrible thing, but they could at least have given them some conflicted moments. Anyways despite that I am still enjoying the crossover immensely and still love the X-Men.

Isn't it pretty basic to post that shizz!?

Was a columnist AICN had for a few months. She was just a girl with a big rack that had videos where she talked about movies or whatever. Anyway, she didn't actually call herself that, but there was a guy who spammed every single Talkback with the phrase "Please no "Tits Out For Attention Girl" this weekend!" and autodidact's anti-Before Watchmen posts reminded me of those days. Example: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/41296?q=node/41302

I'm kidding. Your book (and interior art) were fine. Even though most of the covers were crap. You may now resume ignoring me.
-
...although I have thirty years of comic book "stuff" in my head, roughly .001 percent of it relates to superheroes, and that's the neighborhood you guys live in most of the time. I've tried to start conversations but they either get ignored or die a quick death. S'cool. No skin of of anything and all that. I'm glad y'all are continuing to bring attention to comics, even in this one small corner of the universe. And yes, I realize I have no idea what that first comment relates to and I probably just said a bunch of shit that makes no sense. No worries. I gave up worrying about those kind of things over a decade ago. Heh.

Yeah i didnt like how they wrote cyclops or where theyre going with this character either.
by Norman Colson
he's done alot of douchebag things. I mean alot. it's like he's toeing the line with alot of shady shit. the xforce, killing people. the guy who killed your wife is on your team and you invite him in. wtf? the whole kicking professor x out of the xmen was crazy... How do you kick out the creator without him you wouldnt be xmen. he gave you your fucking glasses for godsake. Gave you a purpose and that's how you repay him. The whole cheating on jean thing? IDK Jean hasnt been completely faithful either. neither has scott... How can you work with your wife on your team when she's always flirting innocently behind your back with the local bad boy? He cheated too, remember that whole kissing psylocke thing? Madeline Pryor?

That means you have 100,000 comics and one of them is a superhero comic and the rest are other genres
by Autodidact
Check ur math bro!
-
...what is exactly yoour comment? I collect almost everything I can manage to get my hands on, so I probably have read some of the books you have collected, and I love talking about comics, so...which one do you want to comment on...?

autodidact, although I swore I would never respond to you again, your comment has left me so exasperated that I simply must ask...
by Jaka
...are you really that fucking stupid?
First of all, I didn't say anything about comic book issues, trades or anything else. I said 'thirty years of comic book stuff' (1982-2012). That means buying, reading, owning, trading, selling, discussing, hanging out in comic shops, downloading, etc.
Then I said, 'roughly .001 percent of it relates to superheroes'. Where in the name of all things sane and cogent do you come up with, 'That means you have 100,000 comics'? For fuck's sake, man! It doesn't mean I have ANY number of comics because the comment had FUCK ALL to do with that.
..... done. Back to ignoring you.

...nothing in particular. I just read all of the books in Chris Ware's 'Building Stories' last week, though. I've got to say, 100% lived up to the hype. I think it's the most interesting, moving and intimate thing he's done so far. Also, it's WELL worth the price. I can't actually believe it was produced and sold for so little. The only downside to it, which is an extremely minor complaint, is that it's hard to file away on the bookshelf with the other trades, or to display it in the box (because the box is pretty big).

You still fail math. Why you so mad though?

I'm really loving Revival, also.

For the record, you fail math, and I'll even explain it to you
by Jaka
I have not supplied you with any number from which to extract .001 percent. For whatever reason, you are pulling 100,000 out of the ether. I do not say, nor imply, 100,000. I have twice mentioned thirty years, which has absolutely nothing to do with 100,000. You may as well have said one hundred, or one septillion, because either one of them makes as much as you randomly deciding that the number is 100,000. There is no math you can do with what I've told you that will supply you with that number. I know this, because math is what I do for a living. Now please stop trying to sound intelligent regarding this subject, because you're making yourself look like a fool.
-
It's one of the best books I've read in years. I even love the old fashioned creator interaction in the letter column. I hope it can maintain the greatness through it's entire run.
-
I don't think you'll regret it. Try any of Ware's other stuff if you haven't read it, too.
-
I made a list once not too long ago for another site, maybe I can find it.
But mostly I wish there was more interest in and focus on weird, off the wall, small press and creator owned titles. Fantagraphics still releases a near endless stream of great books and they get near ZERO attention from anybody other than the A/V Club. I could make a list of other, smaller publishers who are in the same boat.

in order for there to be a .001 of a percent subsample of any number of whole units.
by Autodidact
100,000 is the minimum # of whatevers you need in order to not be a complete moron! I didn't say you have it. In my opinion you're a fucking moron, so we're all on the same page and consistent. Suck balls!
-
And you just continue to make up absolute nonsense in order to try and cover your previous stupidity. "100,000 is the minimum number of units you must have of something in order to not be a complete moron." Hahahhahaa! You must be the fucking definition of the word then. Somebody once told me it's not nice to make fun of retarded people, so I'm going back to completely ignoring you again.

I used to have a free period before math, and I'd go out to my Camaro, which looked like to one Jeff Spicoli wrecked, smoke a bowl, read a Uncanny X-Men, eat a three pack of those raspberry coconut Dolly Madison Zingers that Snoopy hawked, and glide in pretty close to when the bell rang. Still not sure how I got into film school.
