Time for a poll question! Does that bit at the end of the Japanese trailer nail the movie down as a take on the Khan character?
by L.H.Puttgrass
Or are they just messing with us?
-
You can barely see it on the poster. star trek INTO DARKNESS It should be the other way around. STAR TREK into darkness Or really. STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS MOTHERFUCKER!! Say it loud. Say it proud Paramount. Dicks.
-
It's so blatant. I think they're messing with us. I mean they aren't remaking WOK, but maybe put that in there as a wink. I'm curious as to how that scene really plays out.
-
I hope to see you all tonight. I'll behave I promise. L.H. I hope you can too with all your big doins at work. I've got big doins at home tonight. Christmas Karaoke party for the kids followed by the dead eyed misery of The Polar Express. Well at least there's hot chocolate.
-
I'm still pulling for Gary Mitchell, but who the hell knows? I queued up ST II last night on Netflix and FFWD to that scene. Identical. What if it's a red herring?

death_metal_batman, deceased... - I'm wondering what side of the glass is the radiation on?
by L.H.Puttgrass
The Blue Shirt guy reaches out his hand in the classic Vulcan greeting. His fingers are a little shaky and don't actually touch the glass before the shot fades to black. The Dark Shirt guy never moves. It looks like his hand slid down into that position dragging the fingers along. Is he the one in trouble? Neither hand shows signs of radiation burns like Spock in WOK. Without more info, who knows? And why is this ST:WOK throwback radiation scene only on the Japanese trailer? After WWII, Godzilla, and the Tsunami/Reactor meltdown? What's up with that? Poll #2: Are they messing with Japan?
-
They're messing with us. As nitpicky as Trek fandom can get, there's no way that shot would be in the first teaser if it is what we think it is. It'd be like the teaser for the '09 film including the shot of the Spocks saluting each other.
-

hope i can stay up. wanna call in and talk about the trek teaser
by walt
i believe that what jj and company are doing is proof positive of devolution

Poll: My real guess? That Mitchell and Khan are BOTH in this movie in some form or another. Which one is Cumber-buns? Not sure, but I'm leaning towards Khan at this point. Deceased... vaya con dios, my friend. Hope you make it tonight. waltkovacs... by all means, I'd love to hear it. death_metal_batman... I agree with you and celluloid... that hands-at-the-glass scene is a ruse. Abrams knows what he's doing and he is fucking with us HARD. He is laughing his ass off over the internet buzz this has created. In any case, we'll be all over this tonight.

radio sucks and i dont think they do ratings for weekend nightime shows which is why the airwaves are filled with either repeats of wingnut talk or pay for play crap if fish oil is so good for you, why dont eskimos live forever
-
If we start going off on Prometheus, it's Herc's fault. He embedded that video.
-
Well! I'm done! No more Eskimo Pies for me! No, sir! Not falling for that one anymore!

Plus, the hosts keep calling me out. I am apparently not being loving enough.

They better be messing with us. I DO NOT want to go through that shit again with Spock.
by Shermdawg
I don't know who Cumberbatch is playing, but one would think given Khan is the Joker of Star Trek, and everyone knows who he is to an extent even if they're not fans, they would've revealed that's who he is a long, LONG, time ago to generate buzz. Sure there is the possibility that the blonde that most likely will be Elizabeth Dehner could be Carol Marcus but with the last shot in the Japanese trailer I think some folks are just jumping to conclusions. We see a ship crash into the water, presumably the Enterprise, we see the same ship (without its saucer) rise from the water earlier in the trailer, could that be a display of Cumberbatch as Gary Mitchell doing one hell of a Yoda impersonation with his powers? But if he's powerful enough to raise a starship, isn't that a bit too powerful for a Trek villain we've seen going hand to hand? Sure it might just be a shot of a tractor beam pulling the wreckage out in a closing montage of the Enterprise being repaired but it's another instance of the brilliant way they're fucking with the fans by hinting at each. Maybe Orci and whoever else it was that denied Khan being in it was right, maybe neither will appear and it's someone else entirely.

Yes, actually they do. We have a promo that runs on the station and Herc and I do a segment or two every other week on the Scott Cox Show, which is a pretty popular afternoon drive-time show that airs on KERN News Talk 1180. This show has been an up-hill-climb from the beginning. First, just getting it on the air. And second, we are weekend, nighttime am radio. In terms of celebrity there are birthday clowns in this town that have more notoriety than we do. LOL But what the hell... we have a lot of fun doing it and I feel that's what is most important. AND... Hercules coming on board has helped us more than I can say. The guy is a straight up class act and a great partner. Mike and Stef have been pillars of strength to me as well. But committed to this show I am and it will remain on the air (LIVE) until one of three things happens. 1) I die. 2) The company I work for takes the show off. 3) Some bigger station or syndication company comes along and throws a bag of money at me. I would bet on #1. But to all of you that tune in or download every week... God bless you and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
-
Don't take it so hard. Shit, man, I get knocked around harder than anyone on the show. You're here every week, you let your voice be heard, you're ok in my book. Chin up, son.... come on now...
-
...but tonight is REALLY bad.
-
I'm a hard-ass bastard gay guy - I can handle it. I'd call in, if I knew what the hell y'all were talking about, half the time.......
-
But, unfortunately, 90% of you are straight.
-
You regulars need to chat in here. Phone in. I've stopped listening to SNL - painful. But I'll be listening to Bakersfield's best.......
-
And 10% Robosexual. (That sounded funnier in my head. Oh well.)
-
Today was the latest. Doesn't bother me, but they say I give off a "bear" vibe. I have no idea what that means...

I'm now reading my last post and that doesn't sound right.... LOL

Dylan McDermott/ Dermot Mulroney was funny. I also Lol'd at Tree Pimp. The rest was really bad.
-
I've been THAT GUY before. Hell, ten years back I ended up in multiple promos airing countless times a day without my permission because I was THAT GUY. I don't mind supporting obscure radio shows I dig, but if I'm the only one calling in....I'd rather not call in, because I don't want to labeled THAT GUY. Now if it was US GUYS that called in, yeah, I'd be down for that. Maybe not exactly thrilled given how f'n late it is, but certainly more receptive to the idea.
-
And you are calling it your second favorite... So it obviously isn't perfect, even to you... How about I say this, "Prometheus is my 35th favorite movie that I've seen in a theater this year." (I'm guessing there. I'm not sure how many I've seen this year. Compared to years past, I am direly behind. So many movies. So little time. Time that shrinks and shrinks. Year by year.)
-
It pops up, but doesn't start.
-
So there may be technical difficulties. I thought it was my net.
-
We'll get to Prometheus later.

Rickman nails that scene where the crew member sacrifices himself. Such a great movie.

Have you seen THE WAY OF THE GUN?

She doesn't look nearly as bad as the Phantom Menace puppet Yoda. Looks a bit too much like ET in the face though.

This movie. And the last movie. Are, to borrow a term, all ElseWorlds of a sort...
by L.H.Puttgrass
I don't buy it for a second that everything that happened in TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and the ST movies have simply disappeared in a temporal *poof!* just because Nero went back in time after Spock and changed stuff. This is an alternate timeline or universe, if you will. It's an offshoot, a spur in the road, a "Y" in the course of history. I believe there is a growing pile of newspapers on the front doorstep of Spock "Prime's" house in the original timeline. His neighbors are worried about him. Very worried. That's the way I like to think of it. Otherwise... *POOF!*
-
See it. Trust me, it's a wonderful film.

changed my mind about calling in and i like the margaret story lines
by walt
look, if all you guys wanna be excited about what is just a multimillion dollar fan film...fine shit, lucas became a billionaire making fan films of his own shit rodenberry could easily have put on an alt universe trek instead of tng...but gene was never a lazy fuck i drive a toyota...if i slap a porshe label on it, does it suddenly become a porshe? and those who hate the margaret story lines, the harrow love affair, the bohemian story line from season two...hate history...which is pretty much all of america which is why we keep making the same mistakes over and over bring on the zombie apocalypse thank you

Disc version.... is that for xbox360?
-
The collectors edition comes with a special version of the 48-issue collection of the comic.
-
And those goddamn pictures are still making me laugh!!!
-
Good show tonight, hopefully we'll get a definitive answer on Cumberbatch by next week. Catch y'all then.
-
so that's what that guy looks like! too many questions, no answers. "What's Prometheus?" indeed!
-
Otherwise good times. Best opening EVER!
-
Dec. 9, 2012, 11:25 a.m. CST
rben - You got that right! "too many questions, no answers."
by L.H.Puttgrass
And too many of those "too many questions" concerned the motivations of the human crew and not the Engineers and their agenda. "Why did they do that?" was a question I asked through out the movie. Usually about those wacky crew members. I'll stop before I get too worked up. Oh! Yes, that is what he looks like. The police will surely be interested...

Waking up at 3 in the morning in front of the computer is crushing my Sundays. (yawwwwn.)
-
WeLive..., why did you recommend "The Way of the Gun", specifically?
-
naaaaaaaah...
-
...I've meant to check out the show every weekend since Herc started posting these announcements, but I have, ya know, like, a social life and stuff. Either that or I just forget (more often it's this reason). I'll make every effort to check out the next show, and I'll be happy to call in if I've got something to say.
