Pretty good. Some things could be improved, but easily better than most of the other garbage on TV. Shame it's not going to series.

Damn, that's it. No more worthwhile scifi until next spring.

The virtual sets look pretty bad in HD, but they look fine in SD, which is still the way I watch stuff. I do hope they bring a young Lieutenant Tigh into the show.
-
That's a shame. I woulda paid to watch a series.

I have a strong urge to watch some 'Space: Above and Beyond' right now thanks to this.
by Bill C.
That's a compliment, if tempered by disappointment in Syfy's usual modus operandi.

No interest in any BSG since the dreadful 4th season
by DeclarationOfArbroath
Didn't watch Caprica or 'The Plan', and won't watch this.

Swivilie, I've used Coker as a character name in scripts going back 27 years
by trevanian
but I don't think I picked it up from seeing it someplace. The only other character name I've used that long is Rod Jamieson, which comes from THE MOTE IN GOD'S EYE combined w/ EARTHLIGHT.
-
Not perfect, but better than a lot of shit on tv at the moment. SyFy should commission this as a series now! If it's this good with no budget, imagine the potential if they actually spent a bit of money on it
-
just never heard the name Coker used before. Hell, rarely have I heard Husker either. sidenote: Rod Jamieson, cool name. Sounds like 70's porn, but still, cool name.
-
Aww that's too bad. Don't forget to change your tampon bro. But seriously we're all glad you still managed to come on a talkback of a show you stopped watching 7 years ago just to tell us that.
-
Easily better than any of the other programing on the SYFY channel they'd be fools not to make this into a series. If it costs too much cut back on some of the reality programing. This would put you guys on the entertainment map again. Isn't that what you want?
-
Someone still hurt dey didn't wike a wittle TV show?
Sucks for you, B&C is pretty damned good.
-
...is the name of one of the characters in John Wyndham's classic The Day of the Triffids.
-
And shit like Dancing With Assholes kills in the ratings. Such a shame.
-
And that applies to a lot of things, to be fair...
-
I enjoyed it verey much, but it lacked the scale of a true pilot. The BSG mini-series was just epically huge beyond belief.

This felt like a very good mid-season two-part episode.
And WTF is up with the lack of gun continuity???? Last weak the shotgun kept turning into a machine gun, and this week they pulled Cylon machineguns straight out of their asses!
-
this series would have been a hit. Liked BSG hated Caprica. The SFX wouldnt have been a show stopper. This didn't have a chance simply because some executive prick has bet the farm on Defiance and though this might eat into that demographic. I'm still bitter about the lost room.
-
Honestly, that was pretty damn good. I've got to say, I liked the settings and general feel of it. Well-acted too. And even kind of creepy. For such a small budget to work with, I give the people who made this major props. Hope they get future opportunities on Syfy or elsewhere.
-
Regarding Saul Tigh, remember that the Final Five didn't make it to the Colonies until the very, very end of the war, and negotiated the armistice between the humans and the Cylons. Saul was already "old" at that point (having downloaded into a new body following the destruction of Earth), and wouldn't have served as a Lieutenant in the Colonial military, due to the extremely-small period of time between the Fives' arrival, and the ending of the war. Basically, all of Tigh's memories of having served in the military during the war (much of this coming from deleted scenes in Season 2) were implanted by Cavil as false backstory for him to live off of when "exiled" into human society about a decade after the war ends.
-
It's too bad they aren't making a series out of it. I thought the Pilots was really solid and would of watched a series. It's a series based in a war with the Cylons. You can do lots of stories in that universe.
-
@ Hairy nutsack... They probably pulled the Cylon machine guns not from their own asses, but from the asses of the centurions they killed. Or, since the hotel was a CYLON SPARE PARTS DEPOT, they probably had a few stashed there.
Plus, it was nice to hear Six's voice again...
-
This is better than anything syfy has ever put out. I'm done with those fuck wads.
-
The Cylons they killed weren't carrying this type of weapon. And important to note, these are the same Cylon rifles the bots carried in Razor.

And yeah, they were in a Cylon depot thingy, and it's easy to assume where they got them, but that's a harsh jump cut from them carrying Colonial weapons to the Cylon ones. One line of dialogue would have smoothed it out.

But no dialogue can fix last week's mistakes. When Thoth gets shot he's holding the shotgun, on the reverse shot when he falls down he's holding the Storm rifle. LOL
-
Talk about missing the forest through the trees. One continuity problem and suddenly the pilot is garbage? Get a life dude. Also, you do realize that we're missing about 10-12 mins from the final broadcast version of the show right? It's quite possible that some of that dialogue or connecting scenes were cut for the web release. This was a solid pilot and it's a shame SYFY has their heads so far up their asses. I haven't watched a thing on their channel since Caprica went off the air, and it doesn't look like I'm about to start now.

It wasn't made as a pilot for a series in the first place, stop bitching!

Overreact much? I never said the plot was crap, I was refrring to one scene that could have been executed better. Relax.

Yes I know there was a lot that was cut. A huge action scene was cut from the beginning when Husker and Coker take out two Cylon SAM missile installations, a reference to which was left in when Husker boards the Osiris and speaks to the Commander.

Most importantly, they cut out all the titties.
-
And neither was Caprica. SyFy would have been better off with a full reboot/reimagine of Space Above and Beyond. We already know Adama would survive Blood and Chrome and it looked too cheap anyway.
-
Kind of got more dodgey, fx and camera-wise towards the end. They could have played this whole show as a Reboot; since it's all happened before and doomed to happen again, there could in fact been some doubt. Oh well, SyFy... Uni, give up the rights and let someone else play with it then.
-
The SciFi Channel finally makes something worth watching and they won't even think about taking it to series.. I guess all of their backing is going to go into the Mansquito franchise. Lets face it; this channel has been screwing the pooch since it deep sixed Farscape.

I thought it was okay. Not great by any means, but certainly not bad at all.
by Breotan
Of course I could have done without a female version of the android from "I Robot" showing up at the end. :P
