David Letterman calls her "the smartest person I know." She's an author, Rhodes scholar, commentator and even snagged a Grammy nomination last night! I dropped out of junior college and hang around stadium parking lots obliviously offering annoyed strangers smelly bratwurst.
-
I think the show has gone downhill since they got rid of Fred Savage (seriously), and got too full of themselves. Its too obvious at this point that they think they can ad lib their lines throughout an episode, rather than actually craft funny scripts. I generally like Danny Devito, but he is the absolute worst ad libber, and his character has suffered as a result. In addition, not that anyone out there was asking, but I think the show also suffered from Homer Simpson syndrome. Every character on the show wants to be the out of control, bumbling laugh factory. Someone needs to be the straight man there...instead of everyone trying to outdo each other with poorly crafted non-scripted lines. All that said, I still watch, and still (generally) laugh.

Last Resort recycled the beach location, and this week, it looks like they're recycled the exploding boat as well. And yes, Sunny still has its moments, but there's a lot of not-so-funny as well.

Love the whole Jerry situation. He's the most ideal representation of a sad sack, yet he's also incredibly nice, lives in a palace, has a ridiculously hot wife (that I'm sure enjoys that ginormous penis the doctor mentioned), has beautiful daughters....yet he gets totally dumped on by everyone. It's hilarious. Also, how retarded would a real-life The Office Andy be for basically abandoning someone as adorable as Ellie Kemper?

Last REsort deserves better ratings than most of the network crap - I guess serialized network TV is hard to sell for shows not called LOST

If any admissions officer let me into junior college he'd be fired on the spot.

What does a so-called "leftist Letterman" have to do with anything?? Or did YOU not get the comparison?? We ALL know the answer to that , I'm sure!! What was YOUR point about BLACK PANTHERS?? Don't think you had one. You were just being GLIB AND STUPID. but we'd love to hear it, LITTLE MAN!! LOL!!!! Prove what you said about MADDOW. Cite examples with quotes, charts, and graphs. DON'T just SAY it. DO IT, motherfucker.!!! I'm going to go back to bed now... TO FUCK YOUR MOTHER!! NEW AND IMPROVED AGAIN!! BIATCH!!!!!!!

I'm really quite embarrassed and am now determined to take a good hard look at a life wasted.

It's just not completely awesome like it was the last two seasons. I absolutely love the show but its easy to admit this season going on right now is absolutely not their strongest. its too meta, too loose, and like someone above said, feels too ad-libbed. Just isn't working like usual. That said, every has made me laugh at least a few times, and Dennis is still incredibly entertaining.
-
Granted they did ask about him last night ("he hasn't reported for duty"). That's the first time anyone's noticed he's not around? Yet last week there's the investigation and trial of a member of the crew for rape but no one thinks it's something the COB should be made aware of (or needed for)? All the while they are looking for the missing key and the CIA mole. Wouldn't a missing crew member, especially a key one, and one who has been so openly at odds with the Captain, make them all the more concerned about his whereabouts?

Too bad about Sunny, if thats the case. I don't get FX or internet, so I buy the DVDs.
by openthepodbaydoorshal
And last season, Mac shooting insulin in his gut, while extolling the glories of overeating to Dennis, is one of the funniest, yet casual, scenes I've seen on Sunny. I would think the cast, with their long personal history, would adlib like masters.
-
Much better than the Daily Show, which is getting too preachy and has lost all of the funny supporting talent, save John Oliver. Rachel Maddow tries too hard to be like Jon Stewart, and, strangely, Stweart seems to be trying to be Rachel Maddow. Bad, bad, TV. Being very smart doesn't mean you should be smirking smugly at a camera - and mean it.

Holy shit, when its all said and done, LAST RESORT might be the best 13-episode television show I've ever seen
by zillabeast
In Mexico, they design some of their Novellas to run 1 season only. They jam pack it full of material like a motion picture, then break it up over a season. In America, we used to have these things called miniseries that followed the same premise, although over a much tighter span. LAST RESORT may not have been designed from the onset as a one and done, but the premise sure always felt like it. That's what this show should have been. Now that they're cancelled, it makes the importance of each new episode feel precious, and succeeds wildly on delivering the goods. Personally, I think if LAST RESORT had been built as a one-off story told over the course of a season, way more people would be paying attention to it, and the ratings would be big. Not because its a novelty, but because this show is freaking awesome.
