Maybe Someone Can Ask Herc Why Larry Hagman's Death Was Ignored By AICN
by Graphix67
The man was an 80's TV icon and deserved a tip-of-the-hat is all I'm saying.

Orci has admitted that he lied. Ask what they think if Orci lied to them on national radio?
by Just_Some_Guy
Orci mentioned that not everything he said about this new Trek movie has been truthful. What if he lied to Herc and crew on this national radio show? Just saying...
-
That one is already loaded in the chamber. Orci told us that Gary Mitchell would NOT be one of the characters in the new TREK. And I can't imagine Khan being the cat that would "detonated the (star) fleet and everything it stands for". We'll see. I'm guessing that Hercules is sticking to his guns about the bad guy being Khan. 14 hours till air time at this moment. News could break that the villain is Locutus for all I know. Coffee time...

Working in the industry for 25 years, but not being a geek....
by MovieManStill
Seems to work against my favor. I'll try to listen, but I'm starting to drift. Looking forward to an Austin trip soon - it has been a while.
-
12:05 am to 2:00 am CST. Somebody fire up Mr. Coffee!
-
Part of me doesn't blame him if he lied to us about Gary Mitchell not being in the movie; while part of me enjoys getting little tidbits and spoilers when I can, I like being surprised at movies. What does irk me, if in fact Cumberbatch is playing Mitchell, is that the tie-in comic (overseen by Orci) launched with an adaptation of Where No Man Has Gone Before. The comic was touted as the official bridge between movies, and while it's entirely within their purview to do what they want with the movies, I regret being suckered into buying 3.99 comics that are 'irrelevant'.
-
I don't blame him if he lied either. In a weird kind of way it's flattering. But I do want to hear more about the comic thing tonight. Putt!!! What do you mean you got my coffee time??? Don't make me pull a Jay and Silent Bob, showing up on your doorstep to lay an ass whoopin' on ya! ;)
-
If you wanna tune in and have fun with us you're more than welcome. If we don't hold your interest, that's fine too. Have a happy life, live and be well.

I can't speak to the motives of Ain't It Cool's other contributors, many of whom have written other obits and about TV. But if you listen to last week's "Ask Mr. KERN," I think it's obvious why I assumed there were others better suited to tackle this one. If you're still desperate at this point for a summation of the man's life and career, I offer one far better than any I could write: http://www.krgv.com/news/dallas-star-larry-hagman-dies-in-texas-285060/

I think that the "desperate" line is a bit snarky (above).
by MovieManStill
Welive..., it's not that my interest in the radio show hasn't been held - quite the reverse. There is a lot of talk about the industry from the outside, and interviews with people on the inside. I am referring to this site. Many active industry folks have exited for the same reason. A total disconnect. Ten years ago, you'd hear people mention AICN on the set...now, no. (Unless one of those manipulative on-set "tours" is being held - great marketing, though limited.) I'll just listen. I usually agree with Herc's take on stuff. And maybe "deceased" will call in, and entertain everyone.

Need to watch that doc.

I would like the 4disc Prometheus blu ray for Christmas. I've been really good this year.

every major store in the los angeles area is still around but digital, amazon, ebay, etc are eating into their biz some, its their own fault by not offering discounts and being extremely greedy during the fake boom still remember golden apple holding copies in the back to force sell outs and raise prices
-
Did you see Sucker Punch!?
-
but I have never read a comic in my life, and this is all "Charlie Brown's teacher" to me. Kern, are you doing the voiceover for that restaurant thing?

feige has made sure that the creators have respected the source material
by walt
something that was lacking in early marvel movies hulk being the prime example too much power was given to ang lee, who thought he knew better than kirby/lee and every other creator who came before what we got was an absolute mess the second hulk had its problems, but it didnt spit on the source material like ang lee did and bruce remained bruce can anyone understand why bruce wayne is manly, but bruce banner is not?
-
I thought if these scenarios had Superman it would be a lot better. Snyder should do a Fleischer style Superman. And guess what he gets the gig, but I doubt it will be wgat I envisioned.

Yeah, Never Back Down was the fighting movie, with the Tom Cruise doppleganger Sean Faris.
by Shermdawg
Seriously, at one point, they totally could've done a Legend sequel with him as the Cruise character and Frankie Muniz as the elf.
-
Made me feel really comfortable with, at the very least, the action sequences we'll be getting from Snyder's Superman.

Ok, so I'm reading the latest Entertainment Weekly and I get to The Bullseye on the last page to find an image of Larry Hagman in the center of the Bullseye with the comment: J.R.I.P. I sort of understand what you were saying last week. Sorry.
-
Thank you for at least taking the time to answer concerning the diss to Larry. Shame on the rest of AICN however. :-(

I was there right up to 12 to midnight. 12 minutes to show time. Then I woke up a couple of hours later. Lights on. Computer on. Show done. I'm curious. What has to happen in order for someone to feel the need to say, *Gettin rapey up in here.*?

Rapey? You will understand.

my life sux right now...baseball kept me going through summer, this show helps too sad thing is i dont know how much longer ill have the means to listen and no, im not a shut in....just hit hard times a suggestion for a future guest geoff johns...cuz its time to get to the bottom of what the hell is going on at the wb/dc im not buying the whole, "everybody wants a new position, so nobody will make a move" bs the revamped dc sux...its a pr stunt just like before watchmen was....and you can now buy all back issues in bargain bins...as every store and outlet overstocked there are many ways wb/dc can turn their product into a multiplatform leviathan, the way disney/marvel has done....but wb/dc is still playing piece meal johns was supposed to be dc's feige...so what happened? get the story
-
Having been through some nasty times myself, these days, I get where you're coming from. Talking helps. Mister blah blah Man blah blah Returns blah blah, at something called hotmail. Keep moving....as you can see in here, there are cool folks out there. We obviously have the time.
-
This is a direct commentary on the bikini talk. Mr. KERN I know was messing around and I wouldn't dare presume to know Stef's feelings about it. However as an outsider listening in, the longer the talk went, it got kinda rapey. KERN if you check in and want to comment please do. Here's the thing. Stefani's the only girl in this room full of guys and we (myself especially) should remember that. That being said, when you drop a gorgeous girl into a room full of sex starved nerds, things can get crazy.
-
Was it an uncomfortable moment on the show? A little. Did I take it too far? Maybe. Did I ask Stef when we went to break if she was ok and did she give me a grin and say yes? Roger that. I would rip the throat out of anyone outside of the cast that would go after her or make a shit remark about her. I consider Stef a little sister and that is 'nuff said. Y'all have a good-un...

its a long story, and this really isnt the place to repeat it but i have learned a lot in the past 8 months one. when family tells you that you dont have to worry about medical bills....worry two. when someone tells you that they are here to advocate for you and the first place they take you to is the dept of social services and get you on general relief...run for the fucking hills three. the state of california doesnt consider bipolar disorder a real disability and will run you ragged trying to get assistance for something you have suffered for 25 years dealing with, despite you trying to get help and being repeatedly misdiagnosed and mismedicated...one time i was put on a med that sent me into a 2 year manic state...which the doctor thought was great, cuz i was always happy...couldnt sleep, was constantly irritable, spent money i didnt have and lost a job...but i was happy four. no matter how many times you are told "its not your fault" it really is...cuz you are the one to suffer the consequences five. pretty much all psychiatrists suck ass six. when a family member refuses to release money to you and they dont have power of atty...dont just give in, cuz in the end, it will fuck you right up the ass...especially when they say they are holding it so it will last longer and then somehow, in 6 months, its all gone eight. you get what you pay for in an atty wow...this really isnt the place for all of this go and enjoy tonite's fare on tv or at the movies but remember this. if you have a family member who has what is considered a psychiatric illness, but is in fact a medical illness, please dont expect them to turn around their lives in 6 months with a minimum of help. please dont attack them if they fall back to old behaviors in order to cope. please dont treat them with tough love as if they were an addict. and please dont put them in a catch 22 where they are doomed to failure and you can say, "i told you so" and if you have a friend or relative who you think suffers from bipolar...dont be afraid to say something...cuz ten...found out that almost everyone knew what i was suffering from...except me

did i miss a great radio moment on the show? and when will you guys get syndicated already?
by walt
-
Thanks for addressing that. I was out of line and I apologize. Sometimes (especially the live talkback) my comments flow a bit too freely. It's straight from brain to talkback. No filter. My choice of words (rapey in particular) may seem extreme, but that's how I talk and I do not mean in a literal sense. Damn. I feel like I'm digging a hole that I just want to get out of. Tell you what...why don't I just stop, hang back and let you do your job. And thank you to You, Stef, Mike, Sparky and Herc for the entertainment you give me every Saturday. Peace.
-
Also when I said room, I was refering to the chatroom. It reads like I meant the station and poor Stef is fighting off a bunch of rabid wolves... Hole...digging...right...
-
No worries. It's a radio we just try to have fun with. I'm hoping you guys have fun too. And if anyone is NOT having fun, well then, they should eject. But it appears everyone is good so let's move on. Ever forward...

Okay, so I've been working late and will possibly be doing so this weekend even though I'm not on call. Big Doin's!
by L.H.Puttgrass
Anyway, I've listened to the show from the Archives. It was a good show. I just wish I had been awake for it. As for the "Incident" mentioned above, when someone said jerk-off the show's tires were suddenly riding the Rumble Strip. Loudly. But with the wide-on remark the show's tires jumped off the shoulder! Makin' ruts and throwin' chunks of sod high in the air! It's a good thing I wasn't drinking something while I was listening... Spit-Takes-A-Plenty! I hope to be listening this Saturday, if the Big Doin's at work allow...
