While I always look forward to the Christmas Who specials, I am doubly looking forward to this years as we get our first glance of the chemistry between the Doctor and his newest companion.

Hoping this is the start of better times for the show ... No more Ponds, big year ahead ... Come on Moff, prove me wrong!
by GINGE_MUPPET

...soon...enough! I look forward to watching the Christmas special every year with my kids. New traditions and all that. And I can't wait to see more of Ms. Coleman. And you may make whatever innuendo out of that you wish. ??Pseudo?? Out.
-
This doesn't look like Jenna at all!
-
I still say easily the worst Christmas episode so far in the "reboot" era.
-
.... would have been a great tagline, but that one is taken. I, too, was disappointed by last year's special. The prior year's special was great: it ranks among my wife's and my all time favorite holiday specials for anything, period. (I now must watch that, The Grinch, Charlie Brown XMas & Rudolf every year, or it's just not Zagmuk.)
-
Funny you bring that up...woulda been an excellent time to bring them back...

Wow, so no news article about SHERLOCK series 3 production being pushed back from Jan2013 to March, thus making it very likely we'll see no new episodes before 2014?
by TheSeeker7

Doesn't bode well for ever seeing season 4. Too bad. I guess we still have 'Elementary'. And those pathetic RDJ movies.
-
just reboot the homes movies with him in the lead somehow

This must surely be better than last years awful fucking episode. Please!!!

Cant wait! And to the dude above me...there are no awful episodes of Doctor Who.
by paul cook
-
And I love Doctor Who, but that one was... bad. I'll fall from space and land on my helmet! WTF.
-
The toothy grin seals the deal for me. If RTD was still in charge, they'd look like regular boring snowmen.
-
Victorian era, allowing some dress-up and cleavage? Check Ladder extending from the airborne TARDIS, signaling an impossible escape of some kind? Check. Evil looking snowmen (yes roysten, they do resemble Frank from DD)? Check. Depressed/despondant doctor finding a new reason to go on? Check. Sounds like Christmas to me. Wouldn't miss it.

Jenna Louise Coleman has stolen my heart is is alrealy my favorite companion ever! Now if we can get more topless BBC scenes from her, I can die happy!
by R Howell
Seriously, she is beyond cute and needs to cram into my TARDIS (it's bigger on the inside, if you know what I mean... because I don't...).

theseeker7 - BBC still says Sherlock Season 3 will show in 2013
by DoctorTom
They just won't say how late in 2013. Want to place bets now that the night of Doctor Who's 50th anniversary in November 2013 we get a Sherlock episode? (Hopefully in addition to and not instead of a Doctor Who special)
-
Sorry, that's the vibe I'm getting from the second picture. Maybe they'll work better in motion than in the still picture. It makes sense to set this one in the Victorian times. Set it in modern day, the threat would be taken care of by one member of UNIT with a flamethrower. Or by Mickey with a souped up leaf blower. (Didn't Jeremy Clarkson show us one of those once powered by a V8 engine?)

doctorwhorules - yes there are awful episodes of Doctor Who
by DoctorTom
Timelash The Twin Dilemma \ Time and the Rani The Doctor, the Witch and the Wardrobe Fear Her Slipback (yes, it counts despite being a radio adventure - it's an official story put out during the hiatus between Seasons 22 and 23, and proves that Eric Saward can't pull off imitating Douglas Adams) You might find one or two nuggets in these that aren't awful, but the stories as a whole were pretty dire. Especially dire if you compare them against the greats like City of Death, Genesis of the Daleks, The Caves of Androzani, Blink, Midnight or The Doctor's Wife

Another cheesy looking Xmas special.....complete with obvious villains.
by LORDOFLIGHT
We've had killer Xmas trees now we get killer snowmen. I wish they'd just ditch these Xmas specials.

Doctorwhorules....W.T.F. you been smoking......there's loads of rubbish new Who episodes.
by LORDOFLIGHT
Especially some of the R.T.D. ones.
-
Come on, there are entire **eras** of the series that are mostly awful! And I say that as a long-term fan.
-
dumped the stupid spy crap and are playing it straight...mad men in britain on the bbc

Just tell me when Matt transforms into the next Doctor
by FrodoFraggins
-
...has easily been the least watchable, unenjoyable series of new Who for me. Compressed storytelling, broad strokes over subtle emotional beats, and an absolutely wasted and (to use a Brit term) rubbish resolution to Amy and Rory. They should have been left well-enough alone when the Doctor dropped them off at their home late in an episode last season. I really like Matt Smith as the character, but he is being poorly served.
-
More evidence of Matt being the return of the 2nd Doctor..
-
I have seen Dr. Who twice. Once, they were attacked by plastic. The second time, these aliens took over the government and were farting a lot. Now, I see murderous snowmen. Why does this show have the following that it does? Can someone explain to me how this isn't one of the shittiest shows ever made? It's a program for children.
-
I wouldn't call last year's XMas special "bad" per se. That is, there was nothing about it that was done poorly per se. It simply was not good, either: the story was unspectacular, the plot was unspectacular, etc. Indeed, it might be better than I credit it: but the prior XMas special was so good (we've already watched it twice since Thanksgiving!) that Widow might just be the nice looking girl next to the bombshell. (For some of you hardcores, "girls" are half of humanity: for example, the companions are not just clean-shaven boys with prosthetics on their chests.)
-
The tv show has been on for 50 years. If you can't see the quality of the show, I feel no desire to "explain" the show. You either have taste or you don't.
-
Yeah, I think Moffat's hit the wall, creatively.
-
Now I can *definitely* see how a show based partly on fart jokes is worth my time!

So, you watched two episodes of Doctor Who and you think you know it all
by HornOrSilk
I guess you saw Jar Jar in Star Wars and think "Why do people like Empire Strikes Back"? Right? Seriously, what a troll-like comment.
-
Why do people think something is off with the idea? I mean, the first Christmas special we had.... attack of the Christmas Tree.. so why not Snowmen? The point of the Christmas special is different from the norm... so let it have fun and enjoy the season as well...

Now, if Matt Smith was wearing a fireman's helmet, that would be a perfect Harlequin romance novel cover.
by Bill C.
Okay, and JLC would need to be flashing some cleavage, but still.
-
Take it easy. It's just a kiddie show.
-
They're getting a little much... The design work isn't too great -- at all. This whole hype-it-up-like-it's-a-movie thing of Moffat is also getting old quick... I dunno, guys. Love Moffat. Love Smith. Love the show right now. But, at the same time, I'm getting a little annoyed by this Moffat cleverness. Hopeful about the new companion and possibilities... And, I also hope that next series, they drop this no two-part episode rule crap. Love the longer stories.
-
did you see the latest news that JLC wasn't supposed to play Oswin in the Asylum episode at all?
-

Are these posters ever actually printed, or are they merely for Internet consumption?
by Royston Lodge
Seriously, do they actually post Doctor Who posters around Britain to promote upcoming episodes?
-
I think it's misdirection done on purpose. That is, I think she was told to say that, to help keep the mystery of her character alive.

Look on Amazon. Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009QMYLIU/ref=s9_simh_se_p79_d0_i4?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=auto-no-results-center-1&pf_rd_r=ADFEDBB37A574E6F8F7F&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_p=1263465782&pf_rd_i=doctor%20who%20poster%20dinasours%20spaceship
