‘He Asked If I Could Keep It Playing While We Wait!!’
Herc’s Seen WALKING DEAD 3.7!!
The Walking Dead 3.7 FAQ
What’s it called?
“When The Dead Come Knocking.”
Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to series newcomer Frank Renzulli (“The Sopranos,” “The Practice”).
What says AMC?
“The Governor presses for information. A new guest arrives at the prison, forcing Rick’s hand.”
Is the guest arriving at the prison an emissary from Woodbury?
In a sense. The logline speaks of Michonne.
Is Michonne part of the prison population now?
Rick doesn’t leave her outside.
Is Tyreese introduced this week?
There’s a husky, bearded fellow guarding the Woodbury wall in the final minutes.
Does the episode start with a flashback?
The episode begins with Glenn and Merle.
Does Andrea learn tonight that the Governor has Glenn and Maggie?
Woodbury’s a big place.
The big news?
Merle catches Glenn in a lie.
What else is AMC not telling us?
We learn a bit about Milton, The Governor’s nerd. Lori’s baby gets a name this week; it’s not “Lori.”
What’s good?
The mystery of Michael Coleman. The Governor. Michonne cutting to the chase. Merle’s interrogation techniques and Rooker’s reading of “Would they like that?” Andrea's undies. The series’ hottest cast member spends a lot of the episode topless.
What’s not so good?
Again I wondered: “Is this prison not on any maps?”
How does it end, spoiler-boy?
“It’s over now. It’s alright.”
9 p.m. Sunday. AMC.

Thank god for this show, and for it really hitting its stride this season. I don't think I would make it until Breaking Bad's return otherwise.

do you rememeber in season 2 when haters were out in force
by rakesh patel
and fanboys were like this show is the best ever, why you coming here bagging on the show when you don't like it, just don't watch, dont come in here and spoil the thread. those days heh. i have nothing to bitch about this season. this episode looks like a corker.
-
Who is Laurie? Last week's episode was a bit contrived, what with everyone bumping into each other at the same time, but they've earned a bit of leeway. Never seen a show improve so much in between seasons, I was never a hater but I didn't like how they killed off Dale last year or the CDC episode in season 1. But every one this year has been great. And the series hottest cast member is Maggie right?
-
that 'the good' is seeing Maggie topless most of the episode? When it's coerced stripping and possibly rape? Herc, you misogynist cliche'd creep-geek fuckbag.
-
When he says, "The series’ hottest cast member spends a lot of the episode topless." He's talking about a dude.
-
Oh man, then I hope it's Merle! He's dreamy.
-
Nov. 25, 2012, 5:19 a.m. CST
Ok Herc has changed it now. Ignore what I said about Laurie's undies.
by theGoldbergV
And you know Cutty has been cast as Tyrese? Has he already appeared on the show? Cuz I swear when Andrea and Michonne were first brought to Woodbury there was a guard that looked loads like Chad Coleman. Wondering if they introduced the character first but not the actor ala Michonne last year...
-
Glen and Maggie are the benefactors of the same treatment that Rick and Michonne get in the comics? Because if so...this is going to be really painful to watch.
-

Calling it now: Maggie gets boinked by Merle while Glenn watches.

So Hershel's taking it off? He better watch out that's how you get type cast.

It's absolutely shameful and embarrassing that no one at AICN thought to do an obit for Hagman.

We get obits for storyboard artists, but neither of these?

so okay with that. hopefully ill be able to watch it tonight
-
11:15 EST and still not here? Checked last week's talkback to see if he hid them, and not there as well. Hopefully he's not banned as he's been dead on every week.

Very cool.

Just to continue f-ing with us fans of the comic, they cut off Glen's hand during the interrogation.

I like The Walking Dead as much as the next guy, but I'm sorry, for a first season that was comprised of all of SIX EPISODES, the fact that it was EVER as much as $45 is highway fucking robbery.

Both hate and love the old capture and torture the good guys for info bit
by cromulent
And maggie and glen are the goodest of the good guys. oh this is gonna hurt I bet.
-
Couldn't that possibly be a conversation between Darryl & Carol? She most likely endured a considerably traumatic experience, trapped alone in the prison. Not knowing whether anyone would be looking for her, waiting for inevitable gory death. I am thinking she's going through some post traunatic stress and Darryl's talking her down.
-
IMHO it's mean spirited and cheap taking the most decent people out of the show, and both de-handing one and and ultra-raping the other. I don't think we'll see it. I think it will be suggested that Merle would be quite happy to skullfuck Maggie, but I suspect it won't actually happen. Glenns hand may well be a casualty, but if it goes, I predict he won't survive to the second half of this season.
-
Sorry about that
-
oh my god please tell me this is the creators alluded to ricks hand being cut off...DO IT PLEASE
-
...the biggest mistake he made in the graphic novel series was cutting off Rick's hand, and if he had one do-over it would have been NOT to do that. I highly doubt they will go that route. As neither Merle nor Daryl were even in the graphic novel series at all, I don't believe much of this will play out in similar fashion. We've already deviated tremendously from much of the Governor/Woodbury/the Prison sequence from the series in about 2 dozen ways.
-

why would they cut rick or glenns hand when they've already done that with merle

purple toupee - just read the spoilers you posted (potential spoilers in my post)
by bloody_shit_on_my_dick
Sounds like it's going to be a spectacular episode. This season has been balls out crazy, and I love it. ***Spoilers Below*** Implying the rape of Maggie by the governor/ then shoving a gun to the head of Glenn to get her to reveal the location of the prison...DAMN! Bad day for that hot piece of ass Maggie. Too bad this shit aint on HBO, we'd get to see dem titties. (I know she's appeared topless in a flick already, but fuck it, she's hot as hell. Lauren Cohan (Van Wilder 2). Google it.)

Am I the only one who thinks things are moving a little too fast this season?
by Linguo_IS_Dead
So far in seven episodes, they found the prison, took it over, the old man lost his leg, the prison was sabotaged by an angry convict, the baby was born, Lori died, T-Dogg died, they've added two new convict members, we've been introduced to Michonne, introduced to the Town, the Governor, Michonne escaped, Andrea and Glenn were kidnapped and tortured, Michonne found the Prison, and now they're attemping a rescue mission??? IT'S CRAZY!!! They've had no time to let things settle! When the spent the entire season 2 at the Farm, at least it gave the group a sense of false security that made the overrun by walkers more frightening! What's that expression..."action kills tension"!!!
-
Nov. 25, 2012, 9:44 p.m. CST
I often wonder how much of "the wilderness" would be filled with Walkers.
by jimbojones123
This group has, at a minimum, killed at least 1000 Walkers in the past year. Seems like Woodbury puts down 5-10 a day. Aren't there herds out there roaming? Plus, after a year of decay an a pretty big percentage, One has to wonder if the Walker population is starting to deplete and weaken.
-
Nov. 25, 2012, 9:45 p.m. CST
I like that stuff happens every episode, it never gets boring.
by Randy
It might hurt the tension later, but I think the show has some killer pacing this year, very Breaking Bad meets Lost. The characters aren't fucking around this season, they gotta get shit done and they do it, every episode has WOW moments.
-
There were quite a few times when the scene held for another 2-5 seconds tonight instead of taking the natural cut away. I really liked the uncomfortable added element tonight. Worked for Glen's scream. And the eating of the hermit. I really dig non-conventional production. Very Austin Powersish.

A survivor living in a cabin within one to two miles from Woodbury
by mr.underwater
Yet the governor's patrols have never found him? Uh... okay...
-
ok i loved the episode..but just to nitpick..if you are trying to get a reaction from a zombie. and you know you are going to tie his arm down, maybe you should prepare by looking for something other than a hand signal??
-
Nov. 25, 2012, 10 p.m. CST
What kills me with the pacing is the apparent lack of time.
by Linguo_IS_Dead
It's tough for me to tell, but how much time has really passed since they took the prison? Immediately during the takeover's 2nd day, the old man lost his leg. Even if it took him a day or two to regain consciousness, and the another to start walking, then they got attacked again and Lori died. After that, Rick spent one night going crazy killing walkers and answering phones, then the next day Michonne showed up!! They can't have been there longer than a couple weeks...so how safe can they feel?
-
man that's a lot homaging of 80's comedies going on right there.
-
Also, when are people gonna stop getting within biting/grabbing range of walkers/walker corpses??? In the future, they might want to start giving these things a wilder birth when working around them.
-
Lump in throat. Good stuff.

How come no one is talking about Glenn vs. Zombie. That scene made the entire episode. Wow. Go Glenn!
by American Mythos
-
This may be the perfect time for hillbilly biker guy back at the prison to show his true colors. Not a lot of opposition with Rick and Co. on the rescue mission. I fear for Maggie's sister. ...or they may completely ignore that storyline.
-
...was well performed and very moving.
-
The way it was setup and plays out within the confines of that room felt like one of Jigsaw's traps. Very cool scene.
-
Nov. 25, 2012, 11:59 p.m. CST
For a fleeting second, I thought we were going to see TV history
by zillabeast
The way they paused that moment...I thought Maggie was gonna be basic cable's first free flowing set of titties. Alas, it was not to be.
-
Then you obviously didn't hear the part about the Woodbury people thinking the prison was overrun. AKA though know where it is but don't care. You watch the whole show right?
-
I think they addressed that pretty clearly. The Governor knows about the prison and exactly where it is, but Merle told him it was over run with walkers and couldn't be cleared. And man, "[t]he series’ hottest cast member spends a lot of the episode topless" was pretty tasteless.
-
this one really brought my hopes for the show crashing down. I think in this case, it's mostly down to the direction + editing. Just about every scene seemed really awkward/stagey. Okay, the writing was also to blame. Some of the worst yet, actually. This was just a bad episode of a show that has peaked, so far, at mediocre.
-
Your life has peaked, so far, at mediocre. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
-
You're confusing characters. The "biker guy" is Axel. In the books he became a member of the group and had a relationship with Patricia. The serial killer in the prison was Thomas, the straight laced looking guy, who had convinced everybody he was only in prison for tax evasion. He's not on the show.
-
Haha. I'm so glad others picked up on this. You stink, Herc. I mean, at what point did anybody on this show act like they didn't know where the prison was? It's never even been brought up. And then you decide to throw this gem of a question in on the episode where they blatantly said they knew about it? hahahaha YOU STINK.
-
Some good moments, but no one took their time with anything. After 6 killer episodes, this one was just alright. I guess at some point the plot just has to move along. I know they've talked about Neegan eventually making it into the show, but in some ways it feels like they're compressing his storyline with Woodbury. Or maybe I just feel that way because of the beating Glen got, and that the Governor leads his warriors with less lies than in the comic. Also, did Oscar have Tyreese's hammer today? Seemed like it.
-
my feelings have revealed my life's peak, so far, to be slightly Northeast of mediocre. Nearer to "rather pleasant, but uninspired".
-

The black dude watching the wall at Woodbury wasn't Chad Coleman aka Tyrese.....
by Bricklyne
I realize all black people must look alike to you Herc, but seriously, that wasn't even close.

Mean no offence, but why do people want to know everything that`s going to happen before they see it ? I suppose if you`ve read the books then there`s only a few surprises where they deviate. Or have you all seen it already ?

by higgledyhiggles
No major blunders so far.
-
During a rape scene??? Seriously some of you people are not right. Will be watching this later, but while I'd be happy for those sweet Maggie titties to get an airing, it's not a turnon for me for a girl to be half naked while quivering in fear and dread. I guess I'm just weird like that, you SICK FUCKS
-
There were some good moments, like the reunion scene, and Glen's tussle with the walker, but parts of it felt clumsy, especially the ones with Michonne. I don't know how the comic character is supposed to be, but the tv character comes across as illogical, if not stupid sometimes. She's obviously got a brain, and a voice, but why doesn't she use it? The prison encounter sequence harkened back to the frustrating moments of Lost -- don't these people talk to each other? They'd save themselves a lot of hassle if they did, even at the expense of some dramatic tension. And why did she turn into a pussy when they encountered the hoard outside the cabin? I though she was a badass, no fear walker hunter? It's inconsistencies like this, and the choice of weapons to suit whatever gore factor is required at the moment, that stand out. Speaking of continuity issues, the here one moment/not there the next nature of Maggie's bra strap was also in plain sight.
-
...things that make perfect sense. Of course Michonne is acting illogically. She's been on the run for 9+ months and the one friend she had with her (that we know of) abandoned her. She clearly has major trust issues and can't feel safe. As far as her not attacking walkers in the woods, she fell in line with Ricks group because she is an excellent judge of character. How she judged Rick's group positively was demonstrated visually. 1. Rick's treatment of Michonne was juxtaposed with the torture of Glenn/Maggie. True, Michonne didn't see the torture, but she knows the way the Governor and company are. By juxtaposing those two scenes the narrative was highlighting the difference between Rick and the Governor (a theme all season), and if we know it, Michonne knows it. 2. She was shown observing the Carol reunion, which featured Rick's embrace of Carol, mourning over Lori, and happiness about baby Judith.
-
That is why she couldn't be a zombie killing machine when the group encountered the horde near the cabin in the woods.
-
I saw it a whole different way I guess. It looked to me like she just stood back and admired how well Rick and the others worked with each other to calmly take down a bunch of walkers. She didn't feel the need to step in yet in her weakened state.
-
of staying at the prison for two seasons, they're flying through the material. I knew they would have to turn up the pace, but never saw it go this quick. The first two seasons (19 episodes) covered the first twelve or so issues of the comic. In only 9 episodes, they've already covered pretty much the next twelve. My guess is they'll cover the next twelve in the second half of the season. And if they're going to stay two seasons, they aregoing to have to deviate a lot more from the comic.
-
She overhears Glen & Maggie. Gets the baby formula. walks to the prison. passes out. And IMMEDIATELY on waking says "I didn't ask you to save me!" SERIOUSLY how can anyone like this stupid character. Why else would she have walked to the prison with the baby formula!! Oh but she killed Elmer Fudd in the cabin...what a badass moment! please. Hopefully this character is gone after this season they killed off Dale early do it to her!

fast forwarded this ep because of Andrea, then went back and watched again and I’m glad i did. Another great ep.
by rakesh patel
bit by bit i liked that rick was on the other side of the fence and waited to see what Michonne was going to do before eventually acting. He's no longer the boy scout. Michonne needs to speak louder ( was she channelling batman?) and share more. Walking Dead writers, please none of the s1 & 2 lost universe where characters just didn’t talk to each other. Michonne need to get in with this group quickly, why not talk about Andrea? It's just unrealistic for Andrea not to have mentioned the group whilst hanging out with her for 6 months. I know she looks before she leaps, but come on, she's in the group now, that should have been the first thing she mentioned. it made no sense for her to want to go back to Woodbury with rick and the rest. i dunno, maybe the Andrea bit was cut from the show. The scene where rick grabbed her leg.. seemed awkward. Carol is back in the fold and i guess she’s found her role in the group as surrogate mother to Judith. Actually i thought the reunion was done well, pulled the strings with Carl and Rick. As soon as i saw Andrea ass i thought ugghh i dont want to know. I don’t know why but Andrea is just not gelling with me as a character. The biggest revelation to me was Glenn and Maggie, they didn’t seem like the comic book versions, but this episode well its completely changed my opinion. Some great work there done by both. When Maggie gave Glenn that little pep talk on the farm it never felt he man upped to me, even when Shane riled them up to shoot the walkers in the barn and threw glen a gun asn said something to the effect of “ are you going to protect your woman? “. It just never seemed convincing. this ep it did. and when he held her in the end of the ep, she topless, him bloody and battered. Yeah that made me a believer. I liked Carls and ricks pep talk i kind of thought he might have more of a heart to heart about what had happened. needs to have more time together Carl looks to have a bit more to do next week, i hope he pulls it off. Dr Creepy and Andrea, both characters I’m not gelling with so those scenes for me were a waste. The Governor is perfect. truly menacing and creepy with Maggie’s interrogation and pseudo comforting her. Jeez what a evil bastard. Brought it up another notch. He’s now truly the nemesis. The cabin scene seemed a bit silly, running into the place without checking it out. still it showed the group how ruthless Michonne was ( well she had no other option) and how t-dog v2 morals are just lining him up to be a red shirt. Merle is obviously as nutty as the Governor, with the Governor taking Merles word that he’ll put the camp before his brother! It seems to me that the Governor is going to die and Merle is going to take over running of the camp. Allowing Daryl who will be conflicted about his behaviour, but still kin, to stay with the rick and the group. Uh yeah that black dude wasn’t Tyresse, schoolboy fucking error.
-
Govenor and respect coming from Michonne when they heard about such a small group clearing the prison out. Next week should be good. Andrea should have let Mr. Coleman bite Milton. Dumbass.

sorry to say,but no rape = weakens impact and governors character
by grendel69
A guy who puts heads in fishing bowls and watches them for entertainment would have no problem raping a woman he could give a shit about when he wants information from her. That's the pc correct world we live in,even during zombie apocalypse we can't abuse women(aLthough its ok to brutalize men). Problem is it severly weakens the governors character. It takes a evil ruthless character and gives him too much of a conscience. Sorry, but this was a fail as bad as Daeny and House of Undying.

carlotta_valdes - YOU ARE THINKING OF THE WRONG HILLBILLY (Thomas the pedophile cannibal, not Axel), WHO DOES NOT EXIST ON THIS SHOW!
by R Howell
Axel, the small white prisoner on the show, was a GOOD GUY in the comics. He was taller and chubbier, but he was the one prisoner who survived the longest and became part of the group (until killed when the Governor attacked). True, they MAY merge the Axel character with the Thomas character, but right now there aren't any defenseless little girls for him to prey on and it just doesn't seem like it will happen anyways.
-
Nov. 26, 2012, 10:33 a.m. CST
If they are inddeed going to spend two season at the prison/Woodbury, then things are moving WAYYYY too fast (they shouldn't have even introduced Woodbury until the next ep)
by R Howell
Seriously, how the hell are they going to drag this out for ANOTHER 20+ EPISODES? In the comics, they spend a great deal of time at the prison clearing it of zombies and then settling in and making it a home. THIS IS WHY THE ARC WORKED SO WELL, BECAUSE THEY HAD ACTUALLY FOUND A HOME WORTH DEFENDING! It took them a lot more time in the comics to finally get to Woodbury, and when they did, things moved at a swift pace from that point on (mostly by introducing the Govenmor the way they did with cutting off Rick's hand and raping Michonne). The MAIN problem with this otherwise stellar season is that unlike last season, things are moving TOO FAST! If the show had taken an extra ep to make the characters feel "safe and comfortable", it would make the shitfest I assume is coming all the more shocking. I am most worries about how they will deal with the interactions between the Governor and Michonne. If he doesn't brutally rape and torture her like in the comics, then have her get her even more brutal revenge by doing all the horribly graphic things she does to him, then the impact of the Woodbury arch will be so diminished that it will seriously affect my enjoyment of this show. The same is true of Rick's fate, though I'm not saying he is going to have his hand chopped off like in the comics. But SOMETHING horrible has to happen to him to make it more personal, and it MUST be beyond brutal.
-
Every four episodes we get to see ablack guy killed and imediately replaced within the group. Oh yeah, possible spoilers concerning Oscar, Tyreese and the next episode, above.
-
who'd have thunk it? MFW Merle called t-dog a spear chucker. i have no face.
-
I have a feeling that they will bring the Woodbury/Governor arc to an end, while continuing stuff at the prison for another season. Could be good or bad. The safety of the prison will be hard to combat without another human threat. Maybe the fourth season will be the alexandria arc, transposed to the prison.
-
Nov. 26, 2012, 11:17 a.m. CST
They could make the prison last two seasons.
by Michael_Jacksons_Ghost
At the end of this season, Rick and the gang are back at the prison after the "death" of the Governor. The season 4 mid-season cliffhanger will have the Governor ride up to the prison on a tank saying "Kill them all". So, you will have about 8 episodes of them making a home in the prison, only to have it fucked up by the Governor. Season 5 brings in Abraham which will be played by Ron Pearlman.
-
This thing can only go 5 or 6 seasons, so that's the logical way to play it out. Either Rick and the Gang set up in Woodbury and it plays the role of the happy little village they eventually move to, or the prison serves that purpose. Then they establish trade with a bigger town, but Neegan shows up. Neegan remains the big bad until the series ends, which I assume is where the comic is going. Rick's journey needs to end at some point, in both mediums. The Neegan stuff is as big as you can go, with the highest stakes. Unless Rick becomes President of a recreated United States of Zombieland.

The survivor they found in the cabin acted like he'd been asleep the entire "dead walking the earth/apocalypse thing". He was yelling, banging on his own door to be let out, and yelling to the zombies for "Help!" He obviously regarded the other survivors as a bigger threat to him than what was waiting outside. What was that all about? That was a pretty poorly scripted moment in the show and did absolutely nothing to move the plot along, except maybe show how ruthless Micchone could be to the other survivors. Also why does Micchone not mention to Rick and the others that she knows another member of their group. She has to know them, Andrea had to have told her about them. I feel like they are getting a tad sloppy. Plus they are making The Governor out to be a paper tiger, he was more ruthless and disgusting in the comics.

This episode had so many good parts, some flaws, but overall part of a great season.
by kindofabigdeal
Things I loved: Merle's racism, Glen fighting the zombie, the feeling that their might bet tittays on basic cable (the scene was tense and well acted), Michonne kicking ass with the group, Andrea's pantyloons, questioning Merle's loyalty. Things that were meh: The John Ritter looking dude's failed experiment. It had atmosphere but lacked logic. No rape (not to condone rape but it would have added more depth and raised the stakes a bit). Naming the baby Judith. Andrea becoming an alcoholic slut of the Guvna.
-
I am actually glad they did go through with the rape scene but played the intensity up like there was going to be one. I think that part of the story-line might be too much for the viewing audience.
-
When at the prison she says "I didn't ask for your help." No? So why go to the prison with a basket full of formula? To say hi and walk away? And why wouldn't she tell them everything that happened? Or why wouldn't they ask her more questions? Sloppy writing again this week but still a very solid episode. I dread Darryl meeting Merle. If Darryl dies I am done with the show.
-
she said that simply because she didn't want them to think she was indebted to them. its a dog eat dog world in the walking dead universe. she's appreciate that they saved her and patched her up, doesn't mean she's now their bitch for life. ya gotta read between those lines. BTW Danai Gurira plays her well. and she looked well tasty on s2 première of talking dead sans dreads. i not sure why ya'll are clamouring for a rape scene cause seriously guys that is fucking creepy. it played out extremely well by the way it was done.it didn't need to go further. And no the pace of the show is not fucked up. its exactly the way it should be, by keeping applied pressure up. It makes no sense equating the comic book to the series, and whilst i like the prison i could do with them being forced to abandon it. no where is safe.

No rape + no dismemberment = A VERY BORING NEUTERED GOVERNOR!!! The WORST thing this show could do would be to deprive Michonne of her revenge like in the comics!!!
by R Howell
Seriously, if they don't have him do AT LEAST one of these acts, then THE GOVERNOR WILL BE A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE ON THIS SHOW!!! It's not that I WANT to necessarily see these things happen to the main group, and I'm postitive that either one would be difficult to watch, be it was also a gut-punch of a reveal in the comcis that helped cement the REAL Governor as one of the most insanely evil characters ever concived, and also made the comic what it was as well. I'm not saying that Rick has to be the one to face getting his hand chopped off, but SOMEONE major (Hershel doesn't count) needs to have something like this happen to them (I keep thinking Darryl will suffer this fate for some reason). As for Michonne and the Governor; what goes down between them in the comics pretty much MADE The Walking Dead what it is, and without their conflict the show will suffer greatly for it (hey; SOMEONE has to...).

...and you're absolutely right. (POSSIBLE SPOILERS) Though I have a feeling based upon the way Axel was awkwardly hovering around the goodbyes before the rescue trip that he might get Thomas' storyline to heighten tension at the mid-season break. Just a feeling is all.
-
They already did the TV interpretation of that storyline in "The Enemy Within."
-
Absolutely! Like many of you, I pined for Danny Trejo (currently chewing scenery in SOA) to be The Governor this season. Nevertheless, I applaud what David Morrisey and the writers are doing with the character. For the world the way they've interpreted (for basic cable) The Governor would have to be a charismatic son of a bitch with just an utterly sadistic side in a mindfuck sort of way and that's exactly what he is. While it's easy to nitpick at Michonne's choices thus far, the character always struck me as someone who remains emotionally aloof. It's taken her awhile to become a part of the group and I suspect that's how it'll go here. That said, good to see how much the group has changed in how Rick reacts, but with Carl now providing that contrast of conscience. And once again, Steven Yuen has the best scene this week! That zombie fight was intense. Bravo.

I mean Carol.

I'm on the west coast, and some friends of mine around the country reported the same thing.

They tossed the hobo out of the cabin, zombies are tearing into his guts, lots of blood and gore....cut to "Sponsored by KFC" followed by a fullblown KFC commercial in the break.

LMFAO!!!!!

Cool.
-
Did you actually watch the episode Herc?
-
I'd agree with that except the question you have is exactly posed by Rick to bring her around, so its not like the show missed something (*you came here for a reason*), it strikes me less of sloppy writing and actually a case of nuance with Michonne's character.

I don't understand how 2 and a half seasons into the show
by Bass Ackwards
People are still worried about *how* the show is going to follow the comics, the show has made it pretty clear that its taking its own liberties with pacing and characters, and that's just fine. Just worry if the show is telling the story its telling well (and this year it definitely is!) and get over the idea that its doing something *wrong* because the comics did it a different way (and again, I don't know how you can be this far into the show and still have that concern anyways, since the show has already taken so many liberties).

For the first time I'm at a complete loss as to where this show is going. I was watching next week's preview and it's obvious Rick and his group are going to attack Woodbury. There's tension between Rick and Darryl ("he's my brother"). Andrea and the Governor standing side by side shooting at Rick and co. I think it is very well possible that Rick and his group will move into Woodbury after getting rid of the Governor and exposing him for the sick, manipulative fuck that he is. I would lose my shit if Darryl turned on Rick, though. That would not be cool, no siree. And not very believable, since Darryl has much invested in his new 'family'.
-
There are a couple of elements in the air that make this real interesting, Andrea and the Governor, Daryl and Merle, and I also gotta wonder if Axle's allegiance is wavering a bit after seeing them just kill off the innocent guy in the cabin (that scene was a bit random, I suspect the whole reason it was written in was to create that conflict for Axle).
-

Michonne is just horrible in the show. It would be a far better show without her at all.
by happybunni
I know you fans of her pick and choose moments from the show, like "OMG she chopped a Walker's head off with her sword! Sooooo badass and amazing and wonderful!" .. Just because you liked her in the comic book and want to like her here. But no. She is vastly terrible, and bringing the show down. The whole character is badly written.
-
Something just feels "off" with all of their scenes, like they don't fit in with the rest of the show.

For fellow comic book readers: It looks like Woodbury will become the community Rick took over as leader in the comic series...
by Prof. Pop-Cult
In the comic book, the community that the Governor ruled and the one which Rick and his group were invited into and eventually peacefully took charge of are two separate communities. But it looks like the TV series is merging the two settings in one. (I always wondered what happened to the Governor's community after his death.)

Andrew Lincolns acting is fucking phenomenal. The scene with Rick and Carol bought tears to my damn eyes....this season is just superb, and now we only have one episode left then it goes on hiatus...gahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
What a letdown. All last season, people here were going on and on about how "badass" she was and how great a character she was. Well, what did we get? An angry black woman whose facial expression never, ever changes. The actress is one of the worst I've ever seen. Her scenes are the worst this season.
-
Virtually everything shes does or says is irrational, not in a meaningful character driven way but a 'what were the writers thinking' kind of way. She gets right on my tits.

TO ALL THOSE BITCHING: MICHONNE ON THE SHOW ACTUALLY MORE OF A "3-DIMENSIONAL" CHARACTER THAN IN THE COMICS!!!
by R Howell
Seriously, in the comics she is barely there and hardly says two words an issue. Her only real contribution was what the Governor did to her and what she did to get revenge, AND THAT'S PRETTY MUCH IT! For those who read the comics, please think back and tell me what else she has EVER done in the books on any level that makes her more of a character? When you think about it, NO ONE has really done anything important or interesting in the last three years except for what happens to Carl, and that was almost two years ago! The writers need to flesh her character out a lot more and give her some background for the viewers, but already she has done more on the show than she ever did in the comics!
-
Why didn't she tell Rick about Andrea?
-
I just typed up a whole response and this SHITTY FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT FROM 1998 COMPLETELY DESTROYED IT. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU STUPID ASSHOLES?
-
Before this fucking archaic talkback ate my post, my point was that people who don't like Michonne obviously don't appreciate subtlety and need everything spelled out for them. If you seriously need someone to explain why she wouldn't instantaneously trust Rick and tell him about Andrea and everything else, you are just making yourselves look like complete dumbasses.
-
Tyreese finds the prison and entere through an unsecured area. Carl finds them after hearing screaming. A member of Tyreese's group is bitten and dies. Her name is Donna. Hello Allen and kids! Carl locks them up when he finds them. Axel hits on Beth, then hits on Carol when he finds out she's not a carpetmuncher, as Merle would say. Rick and co. save Glenn and Maggie. Michonne kills Gov's kid, gets in a fight with him. They wreck the aquariums and she stabs him in the eye with a piece of glass. Andrea walks in, lets Michonne go, tends to Gov. Ends with the Gov declaring Merle a traitor and revealing that Daryl has been captured and is in the zombie arena. And you'll get to think about that for a couple of months. Yay.

Here and elsewhere people seems to be having a go at this character. Having not read the comics I'm pretty satfisfied with her so far. She's a puzzle, thats for sure. But I'm sure she'll eventually open up and it'll be more emotional when it does happen because of the slow burn her arc has been thus far. Its kind of like the characters on Dollhouse, she's basically just a cyhper now, but that'll change over time. She's not stupid, she's just not able to ask for help, despite it being obvious she wants to help the group. Plus the way she reacts to things tells a lot about her character, she was geniunely impressed with the way the group took down those walkers. And what she chose not to say, namely about Merl, the Governor killing the army guys, etc, further informs us about how little she trusts people. This year on TWD they have done a lot more storytelling without dialogue (the opening scene in the premiere, Rick and Lori's discussion by the fence, Daryl psyching himself up to waste a zombie-Carol) and I just see Michonne as another example of this. Down the line we'll get her story...
-
I agree totally! Even the scenes with Rick. When Maggie and Carl came out with the baby and the last ep when Carol found out. Both brought a lump to my throat with minimal dialogue. If Lori had died last season, we would have had a full episode of nothing but Rick talking about how it made him feel.
-
Oscar does die. Supposedly, Rick gets his gun bag back in the raid (unsure of thisone however) because Andrea had it at the end of last season. What else in in this supposed bag? Rick's radio. Morgan will be back. He will die quickly, as well. Tyreese WILL GET HIS GYM SCENE. Tyresse's group cinsists of five. Tyreese, Allen, Donna (dies in ep 8) their son (not twins, and a bit older than the comics) and a girl named Sasha. Her relationship with Tyreese isunknown.
-
You can see it in his face that when he pushed her down on the table and got behind her that he came in his pants. One and DONE! I think he was a little embarrassed to continue at that point.
-
Rrrraraaaahhhh!! Good for you, Glen. Good for you.
-
All the TV writers need to do is go back to the "comic Michonne" that carried on conversations with herself and with her BF...at loud. When she did it, I felt for her. When she got caught doing it, I really felt for her. Let her have those little convos, and let somone witness them, and her character value multiplies...GUARANTEED....(there's only one way but up...) I love the comic character, but I realize the disappointment from TV viewers. You don't know the torment, shock, and transition she went through.

Michonne not telling them about Andrea makes her look like a dumbass.
by happybunni
Like really, how many problems is that going to cause? And for what reason? Because she's an idiot? I mean she came to Rick and them in the first place, she trusts them a bit because Andrea did and apparently respects them. But does she tell them something they're going to find out about anyway, and would probably want/need to know? No. She's a freaking dumbass.
-
Nov. 28, 2012, 12:02 a.m. CST
If she doesn't realize that's Andrea's group she's even worse.
by happybunni
She heard Merle asking them about his brother. I don't believe that in however many months her and Andrea spent together, Andrea never told her about the group she was with. Michonne should have at least overheard something from Woodsbury conversations, Andrea spoke about people in her group a lot.
-
She just wasn't going to let on and didn't give a shit about playing catchup. She knew the moment she saw Daryl who the fuck he was and wasn't about to tell him about Meryl. She wanted a raid on Woodbury(preferably with Meryl getting got), and that would only complicate matters. So she told them the minimum of what she needed to tell them to get what she needed. I expect like a 4 on 4 in the Courtyard by the time this is done. Thats the reason for intro'ing the 'fights'.
-
What has she done as a character? At this point, she's really not done a lot character wise except cut things with her katana and frown at people's shenanigans. I was really hoping for more. Either she's written bad, or the actress is bad. But come on, moody ninja who just glares?

Everyone who thinks Michonne should die because she's a cliche...
by Richard
Needs to STFU. I will point, once again, to Daryl Dixon in season one. Prototypical angry Redneck who was rarely in a scene where he wasn't griping about his brother being left behind. Season two, he develops relationships with other characters, becomes more interesting. The character developed. Michonne has had no relationships with other characters (other than Andrea, and we rarely saw much of that) so is basically going to be a stereotype until given a chance to show who she is. And i honestly think that not having relationships is a part of her character. She's lost her boyfriend and the one friend she's made in the apocalypse has turned her back on her. When she finally does truely open up to someone (Tyreese?) It will be emotionally engaging because she is such a closed up person. I do feel this was a misstep on the show. Not long after being introduced in the comics, she revealed that her pets were her boyfriend and a friend of his, and proceeded to give Tyreese a BJ while he was still emotionally attached to Carol, causing Carol tp attempt to kill herself. I think Kirkman and Co thought it would be cool to get Michonne into the end of season 2 without thinking of the ramifications of how that would effect how her character is perceived.
-
The only people complaining are old racist white guys that actually read comic books. Everybody else I know likes the character a lot.

I like Michonne, BUT... she didn't tell Rick that Andrea is at Woodbury.
by Hardboiled Wonderland
I'm guessing Andrea dies in the crossfire, Michonne feels remorse, cuts Rick's hand off and blames him. Also, Woodbury has kids... yet they rush in with guns blazing, no real surveillance?!
-
Did they not smear themselves with entrails to put the walkers off their scents in the forest?
-
with their black characters. The father and son in the very first episode were handled very nicely, but since then we have silent nonentity T-Dawg, then silent T-Dawg II, and now Michonne, who's character arc is messed up because she relates to no one, whereas in the comics her humanity was expressed in the revelation of the identity of her "pet" walkers and sexual connection to Tyrese. In comparison, the white characters, and Glen, are given back-stories, relationships, dialogue, action scenes...are full characters. The creative team actually seems confused about how to depict black characters as fully human beings. Bizarre, and the precise reason those production/writing staffs need diversity.
-
You're right about Michonne mentioning Andrea. It is highly unlikely that, during their months together on the road, Andrea didn't mention her friends by name, and that Michonne wouldn't put it together. Possible, but unlikely.
-

@hipshot, yeah it makes no sense. I can understand Michonne remaining silent on a lot of things...
by Hardboiled Wonderland
... but not mentioning her friend is there ("don't shoot the blonde woman!") is bizarre. also bizarre, Rick's tactics... let's rush up to the front gate, don't bother looking for weak spots for a stealth mission, and then rush in guns blazing.

Carl shooting from behind chain links, and parking the car on the road known to be frequented by Woodbury
by E. D.
Still can't understand what goes through anyone's mind from the writers to director to reviewing dailes, who can watch all these inconsistencies and just plain stupid plot devices and not cringe with embarassment. Ever fire a revolver without putting its barrel cleaning through the chain links of a fence? Guess what happens. Ever park your SUV right smack on the road that your enemies use a lot. You know, the ones you are sneaking up on to surprise? So many lazy plot excuses, even when a couple things like the Governor's handling as a character by Morrisey and Glen/Maggies acting during the interrogations go off well, there's always this bad taste lurking from crap like this. Oh, and let's not forget the zombies-out-of-nowhere du jour with that artificially close-in camera work to pretend that it would be a real surprise. Btw, ever get an answer for how Laurie's entire body, bones and even CLOTHES are gone? You do know what an eaten body would look like, we've seen it in the very first EP in Season 1. The very first body Rick sees once out of bed is that woman on the floor who's face is somewhat there but body is chewed on all over. And that is likely what many zombies did to her, not just one. Or even bicycle girl, legs eaten but lots of her left. Hardwick needs to grow balls on Talking Dead and pin down Mazzara or someone and get them to admit they don't care about physics, realism, drama or even continuity. Just have a zombie killed and any setup for it is good enough no matter what it violates logic-wise.

Not a huge Michonne fan yet but I will let her grow and develop.
by BilboRing
She is annoying now but hopefully she starts to open up and do more as well. Daryl is my favorite character right now but he didn't do too much for me in Season 1. Plus she is hot as hell.
-
Should be pointed out that some of the complaints about Michonne revolve around how in the comic the character opened up to us through her relationship with Tyrese and the revelation of her imaginary conversations etc. In the comic, this stuff didn't happed the minute we met Michonne, it happened over a period of time with the group, she's just joined the group one episode ago, give the show some time I'm sure we'll start to see more of her nuances develop.
