SOA: tonight and the next two weeks will all be 90-minute episodes to close out the season
by Uncle Pooky
FX is now officially the smartest network to ever exist. Respect the talent and give them what they want!
-
SOA >>> everything else on this page combined.
-
now the show is as long as an hbo or showtime show. Your move amc , 90 min walking dead
-
after boardwalk empire, homeland, and walking dead, I don't know how much more murder and mayhem I can take. Boardwalk got me right in the feels. By the way I hate Tara now, Jax's old lady deserves the death penalty, what a dumb stupid asshole. It almost makes Clay a good guy now, he tried to have her taken out.

Pretty good SOA, Charlie Hunnam gave a good performance
by Monolith_Jones
Donal Logue is great on this show. Tara is all over the place as a character, one minute savvy the next naive, I mean come on when Otto said he wanted his crucifix her red flags should have went up when she saw that it wasn't a little inch long piece but a eight inch monstrosity. We also get another A-Team sequence where the music kicks in telling us that there will be no consequences, the Sons will always win. Also what's up with Chuck rhyming? It's really irritating and gimmicky. New Girl, while not hilarious, was very good. Rib Reiner and Jamie Lee Curtis were great additions, Rob Riggle was good as well. Raising Hope was good but not as funny as recent episodes.

The triumvirate of Jax, Clay, and Gemma each has their own agenda... choosing to share bits of info, twisting and tricking each other and the other moving pieces of the club and their world in order to achieve their goals. Then, a chance event or encounter will throw a wrench into someone's plan, forcing them to change things up or admit to what it going on. Inevitably, the others catch on to what the agendas were, causing more dominoes to fall... all the while, the viewer sees all this happening and can't help but feel tension as the pieces fall, and there's nothing we can do to stop people from getting hurt and dying. Mad Men? There's no machinations at play, no horrible secrets, no danger. Just the "stresses" of a normal job at a normal company.

Everything.

Just admit it Pooky you like SOA better because it's more violent
by Monolith_Jones
That's all it has on Mad Men. Mad Men is better written, directed and acted. Real life is tragic enough without ridiculous gunfights. Even if the Sons are out numbered 4-1 it doesn't matter because the Sons are the coolest, toughest, fastest, strongest, smartest guys. Always. It's only slightly more realistic than The Walking Dead I'll take The Wire, The Sopranos, and Breaking Bad, shows with actual dramatic tension, over a lightweight hour-killer like SOA anytime.

sorry for insulting you crow, but we can't all follow TV shows simply because the critics tell us to

Ha. Please. I Started Watching Mad Men Late, Skeptical as Anyone
by Crow3711
I think I finally relented and gave it a shot after it won its third consecutive best drama Emmy. Whether you take awards seriously or not (I don't usually), you can't call yourself a fan of good tv and not at least check out a show that accomplishes that. And it becomes abundantly clear by the final episode of season 1 that its quite simply, objectively, the finest piece of television going right now. Carousel is one of the finest episodes of TV I've ever seen, and that doesn't even get in to later seasons and episodes like The Suitcase or Guy Walks Into an Advertising Agency. I don't give a shit what critic agrees or doesn't, that my steadfast opinion as an informed viewer who watches damn near everything worth watching on TV. And as a person who watches that much tv, I just find sons of anarchy nearly unwatchable. Repetitive, macho, tiresome, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive. Matt Weiner is a douchebag, but a complete genius. Kurt sutter is just a douchebag. Are theses the opinions of someone who doesn't know what they are talking about?
-
But it's still my favorite episode. Anyone who had seen it will know why that's an easy mistake to mak.
-
of course i didnt towards the end of last season either
-
mad men and soa, can't compare the two shows at all, completely different shows, like comparing Slayer and Bill Joel, both great but not the same style. Could use a better example but close enough. I'm sick of Clay not being killed of already, but Ron Pearlman is the Man! Great actor, glad he doesn't have to have on so much makeup. Hellboy 3 please some day

Why do you guys keep having this SoA vs Mad Men debate?
by Bass Ackwards
I thought it was a random argument to see the first time I came across it, I find it even stranger that it keeps recurring. I assume this is the result of just a few really insecure SoA fans who insist on bringing up this debate in every talkback, being under the impression that if they denigrate Mad Men they somehow elevate the status of the completely dissimilar Sons of Anarchy.
