Holy 60s TV mash-up, Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
Forgive my brevity with today’s behind the scenes pic. I’m up to my eyeballs in Holiday Gift Guide stuff, so I’m only coming up for air for a few minutes to post today’s shot, which was taken on the backlot as two iconic ‘60s TV series collide and the Boy Wonder met the Robinson children. Pictured are Burt Ward, Bill Mumy and Angela Cartwright, in costume no less.
Thanks to Bill Forsche for the shot! Click to enlargen!

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.
Tomorrow’s pic shows a comic duo being mobbed by tiny fans.

Is it true his ghost still haunts the bordello where his bullet riddled body was found?

Tell me my socks will be blown away by the gift guide! Oh, nice pic, btw. I wonder if they shared a stage back in the day or if this was some sort of media ploy?
-
Dr. Smith's dream come true.

Angela Cartwright was born just up the road from me in Altringham Cheshire! Her sister is Veronica Cartwright from 'Alien'... that was er... quite interesting...

You think Burt Ward had started doing tagteam threesomes with Adam West by this time?
by j
How old was Angela Cartwright right there? Would it have mattered in the 60s?

I thought this was going to be from when Batman teamed up with the Green Hornet
by rev_skarekroe
I've never seen those episodes.

The Batman/Green Hornet episodes were great (except for the part when Burt Ward actually lands a punch on BRUCE LEE ugh!) You must seek those out!

Cool photo! Only question, what the freak is with the big bolder?
by Jack Desmondi
Looks to be a Lost in Space prop, but the background looks like Gotham?
-
I think the background is more likely to be the entrance to Stages 10 - something of the backlot.. Love backlot photos, the idea of people wandering around fully costumed up making you realise that being Batman or whatever is actually just someone's job..

She and Veronica look so much alike at that age..

The Batman series debuted January 1966. I'm guessing this photo was taken when they were filming in late 1965. It could be 1966, when she was 14, but I don't think it's as late at 1967 because she'd had a growth spurt by then and was looking much more, uh, 'womanly'.

rev_skarekroe: I did see the Batman / Green Hornet team up episodes, interesting story about Burt Ward and Bruce Lee . . .
by elmo
Robin vs Kato was a big topic then, and supposedly, Bruce took it a little more to heart about being beat on by Robin. Burt was nervous as to whether it was going to play out in real punches and told Bruce to remember that it was all an act and to not get carried away in their fight scenes. Burt says that he knew Bruce, that they lived in the same condo complex and socialized and worked out together. Not too sure about that, but it was interesting at the time. And, as my young self remembers, the fight scene (which ended up a draw) was OK, but couldn't hide the fact that Burt was completely outclassed.

it makes me feel like a kid to see this, thanks so much!
-
It's looking like the TV series is going to be on DVD/BluRay around this time next year!!!

Too funny! Just sayin'

Cheaplaffs Johnson from Six Gun Justice and the Happy Hour kids show. At the end of the series of sketches the host tells the kids who are watching that Cheaplaffs ended up dead in a cheap motel in Hollywood. Is that all based on a true story, that some actor died in a fleabag Hollywood motel? Or did SCTV, or someone else before that, invent that story?
-
which I think has only been Batman so far... that Batgirl BTSPotD was the best...

Its all kinds of awesome that one of my favorite sci-fi shows, Babylon 5, had Bill Mumy as a totally kick ass character in Lennier. Ahhh...Sci-Fi channel, how I miss thee...

I was a little too young to watch these at the time (I turned 4 in 1968 when both shows went off the air) but I saw them both in reruns in the early 70s and loved both. Three iconic screen teens, all of whom turned out pretty well. Thanks for the great nostalgia!

This thing writes itself.

Even though these shows were technically before me time (not by much), they were a MAJOR part of my childhood. The Batman series and Lost in Space were my favorite shows when I was a kid (along with Speed Racer and The Monkees). During the summer, I used to rush home from my day at the public pool to see Lost in Space repeats every 4:00pm. Probably the first series I dedicated myself to watching every episode in order.

I love Bill Mumy's story about being shared shitless by Alfred Hitchcock.
