FUCK IT TOO!

Hahah straight into the crapper!

It hates superheroes but it's about superheroes who fight other superheroes because they where capes instead of cool leather jackets and dusters and crap like that. Beside Marshall Law is like The Boys before The Boys and at least more self aware, which Pat Mills is more Alan Moore than Alan Moore and did everything before him...just in Britain. Actually, is Garth Ennis self aware at all? Wait...I did somewhat like that WW1 fighter pilot story thing he did with Howard Chaykin but that's mostly just cause I like the drawings of Howard Chaykin when they don't involve Black Kiss.

Drawn by Greg Land and written by Rob Leifeld.

Optimus letting JD confuse Legion and Proteus on the podcast without a correction, Claremont is going to come for your X-Men card.
-
Unfortunately I have a rare medical condition that turns all of JD's words from English into the white noise of whale rape. Has he actually talked during a podcast?
-
Where did JD confuse Legion and Proteus? I must have missed that.

I plan to buy the next TPB of THE BOYS and be done with it

Same with THE WALKING DEAD

...since the series has ended. We DID mention this was the final issue in the podcast, didn't we?

When you started discussing the plot of the last arc I got up to take a piss and turned on the dehumidifier for a couple minutes to avoid spoilers. I have read the entire series and it's been pretty uneven.. I'd almost even say more bad than good. Hughie's endless grapple with the sluttiness of his girlfriend not interesting enough to merit 50% of the story the way it does. This made volume 8 of the boys one of my most hated comic purchases ever. I have affixed a post-it note reminding me that it's terrible and not to read it if I'm re-reading these during some winter storm 20 years from now. The over the top violence has become way too sparse. The rivalry with Vought-American is drawn a bit thin and the constant tease of another big reveal never amounts to anything either. I stuck with it because of what Ennis did with PREACHER. It seemed like THE BOYS would have the same satisfying overall arc but the overall situation in THE BOYS has just not changed much since about issue 6. I wish I had never sold off and loaned out so many of my PREACHER comics. I had the whole goddamn series and all the off-shoots basically.

Atheist are wrong in the Marvel U?

JD says he remembers Legion as the guy who fought Wolverine on Muir Island who turns Wolverine all wavy. In actuality it was Proteus (shortly after escaping Muir Island) who did that to Wolverine in Uncanny X-Men #126. I do find it interesting that John Byrne talked Claremont into not making Proteus Xavier's kid because he would have been illegitimate and then 5 years later we give him an illegitimate son (Legion) who almost kills the New Mutants in his first appearance.
-
Actually the lists are about 50/50 on whether he talks during the podcasts. We know he edits sound effects and emails into the podcast, so about 1/2 the listeners think all of the supposed "JD Talks" portion of the podcast is actually added in post, while the other half of the listeners believer JD is actually talking live during the broadcast, but Matt, Bug & Optimus ignore him and what he is saying during the podcast.

Picked it up last Thurs. Intruiging concept but i wonder how it will play out and how long the premise will last when you have 2 Cyclops, Beast, Iceman and Angel in the same reality and Jean back. I find it odd though, that Beast's answer to their problems is to travel back in time (as you do) and bring past versions of the X-Men into the future alongside their present counterparts...as if entering the potential consequences time travel into the mix will NOT COMPLICATE life any further? Having said that, after Wolverine, my favourite X-Men have always been the original 5 and their long standing history, friendship and family...especially Iceman and Angel (well i prefer Archangel) who are so criminally underrated. Now...if they could just find a way to somehow credibly bring Xavier back from the dead, patch things up with the team and be a regular presence in their lives as the mentor and founder...i miss those days. Since Onslaught in the 90's, it has never been quite the same.

@autodidact: I will say I don't think Starlight is a slut. A slut would enjoy doing what she did. She hated it, and grappled with guilt over it. She was a young girl put into a no-win situation. @tigger11: I didn't catch that. I remember JD asking about a story involving Legion and Muir Island, and said it was around the time he first got into X-Men comics, so I thought he was referring to the Muir Island Saga which Legion was a part of. The Proteus story happened back in '79/'80 and I don't think JD is that old (although maybe he was referring to a reprint, which is possible since I read a Classic X-Men reprint of that story when I was young).

Well there's being a slut and then there's doing slutty things. I think you can refer to either or both as "sluttiness"
by Autodidact
You are correct she's not an inborn "slut" but the judgement is not mine... the pages of 75 issues of THE BOYS have been about 50% devoted to Hughie's varying take on the issue, including times he's thought she's a slut and called her one.
-
About JD and Legion, he may have been talking about that, I just can't think of a fight between Logan and David I would describe as JD did during the podcast. Though I realize JD probably didn't read Uncanny 126 when it came out Classic X-Men #34 reprints it and it and the Muir Island saga are only about a year apart on publication date. An interesting think I just found out however is that the Muir Island Saga has never been reprinted at least according to the Marvel Wikipedia.
