What’s it called?

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to series vet Scott M. Gimple (“18 Miles Out”), a holdover from the Darabont days.

“As Andrea grows closer to the Governor, Michonne makes a decision about Woodbury. Glenn and Maggie go on a run. Rick struggles.”

Does the episode start with a flashback?
It starts with Merle getting a message.

Is Carol at the other end of Rick’s phone line?
It’s not Carol. It’s far more interesting.

Michonne makes a decision about Woodbury? Does she burn it down or beg to return? What business could she possibly still have with the place?
She doesn’t beg to return.

Andrea grows closer to The Governor? Is that why they call it Woodbury?
Woodb … Get out of my office!!

What else is AMC not telling us?
Glenn and Maggie’s run is a pretty compelling one.

What’s good?
The phone. Merle. Michonne.

What’s not so good?
After tonight, only two episodes left till February.

Rick spies something through some chain-link.

Never have seen walking it worth it at this point?

    by Longtime Lurker

I have heard such contradictory things about this show. Never got around to it. Is it worth investing the time to catch up? Thanks

  • I mean after two weeks ago, I thought that was about the pinnacle of how "BIG" we can go? Consider the bar for tonight's episode to be astoundingly high.

    The phone question

    by LethargicJ

Is there really anybody alive who doesn't already know who's on that phone?

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 4:05 a.m. CST

    the phone...

    by maxwell's hammer

lethargic: if you haven't read the comic (which many people haven't), I don't think its really that obvious who is on the phone. Its been fun watching many non-comic readers speculate about how that's going to play out. OF COURSE it's obvious to us, but it isn't to everyone...

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 4:39 a.m. CST

Do we find out what happened to Carol tonight or what?

    by alan_poon

I've seen a still from the episode and I fear the worst.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 4:55 a.m. CST

No idea who's on the phone.

    by happybunni

I assumed it would be Woodbury basically cold calling numbers trying to get people to come to them.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 6:37 a.m. CST

Not read the comics. No idea who is in the phone.

    by theGoldbergV

What they've done by killing Lori and T-dog (and maybe Carol) is make no one safe. Last week when Maggie went off with Daryl? I thought she was a goner... It makes it much more tense. I think really at this point it's only Rick, Carl and Daryl who are safe. Everyone else is expendable. Not loving the woodbury stuff so far, I like the character of Andrea and the actress, but everything she's been given so far is all a bit obvious and meh. Of course Morrisey and Miles from Rubicon are great though. I thought the plan would be to connect the prison story to Woodbury before the mid-season break, it's not looking that way yet though... Surely Hershel and his other daughter are biggest candidates for biting it next

    by SupermanIsMyGod

I guess it'd be too difficult since we know her voice, but I'd like to see them keep the phone thing going for a couple episodes, the revelation that it was Lori in the comic was a great one, and we lose that if he picks up the phone and goes "Hello?" "Hey, its me Lori...wazzzzuuuppp" That said, even us savvy comic readers don't KNOW Lori is on the phone. The TV show has screwed with our expectations many a time already, and I'm glad for it.

yeah i agree on that, however, the pace of the show is wayy different from the comics as we learned, they are just at 1000000km/h this season, it wouldnt be a surprise for example, if we dont get to hear lori´s voice but instead we guess her identity for rick lines, also sarah wayne callies is still credited...

Michonne is a big disappointment so far...

    by ImperialMarchFace

She just pouts and barely speaks. There's no reason for the audience to give a shit about her. It's not like we saw her and Andrea together or all those months. She had better do something cool soon.

    by FadedLineVigil

I want to love this show so badly. I can't exactly put my finger on what is missing for me, but I never find myself reallllly digging an episode or really itching to watch the next episode. It's just barely good enough for me to watch each week but takes 3rd place on Sunday nights after Dexter and Boardwalk Empire. Anyone else feel like this? I love horror and zombies and such and I certainly appreciate much about this show, but it just never really excites me or sucks me into the universe.

    Comics Andrea > Series Andrea

    by fanboy71

By a country mile. Not only was she totally miscast (Andrea is 25 or 26 when the comic begins), but her charcter is one of the backbone of the group, unlike the annoying character on the show who I would not even care about if she were eaten alive by walkers. And I hate that they didn't keep Dale around long enough to have that relationship, and that she won't get her scars now that the prisoners have been assimilated or killed. That was a character builder for sure. It's great to see the non comic readers wondering what's going to happe, who's on the phone, and bitching about Michonne being a one dimensional character. Just wait.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 5:33 p.m. CST

This season only seems "better" because its moving faster than previous seasons.

    by HollywoodHellraiser

The acting isn't any better and the Ninja Zombies still exists. Plus you have to admit that was a piss poor way of getting rid of one black guy(a fan favorite BTW) and replace him with another black guy in the same episode. WTF?! Also you basically have Maggie and Glenn just screwing all the night as opposed to real character development. And Rick goes off or struggles has been done to death. The only bright spot is Michonne, Merle, and The Governor. But even those is wreck by some bad writing. Oh well. I suspect WWZ is going to end the zombie fade once and for all.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 6:21 p.m. CST

I'm a comic reader and Michonne IS one-dimensional

    by ImperialMarchFace

on the show. I don't know why they wasted the opportunity to have her tell Andrea about her chained walkers. How is that ever going to come up again? This show is very improved this season, but character development is still a big problem. We actually found out one detail about T-dog (I cringe every time I'm reminded that that was the character's name), AFTER HE DIED.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 7:47 p.m. CST

    I'm thinking...

    by vladvampire

If they are going to chop off Rick's hand, ala the comics, and since they have strayed far from the comics on some plot points (like Lori's death in the comics compared to the show), I'm thinking it'll be Merle chopping off Rick's hand as some kind of revenge for his losing his hand due to Rick handcuffing him to that pipe on the roof.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 8:22 p.m. CST

    Ricks Hand

    by DVaderRIP

Not going to happen, never, no way, no sir. That hand is staying the fuck on. So that leaves a question... what shocking event are you going to go for, if not that? Well, if I were in the pitching meeting, I would suggest the following : Chop off Carl's hand.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 8:36 p.m. CST

    But dvaderrip...

    by vladvampire

Carl get's a shocking moment in the comics...he get's his eye blown clean out. If that's not shocking enough...well, I don't know if the show'll last as long as the comics take them, but they are deviating enough from the comics as it is, maybe they'll just toss the comic plots into a hat, shuffle it, toss them in the air and then grab the first one that falls in their laps.

    The Phone and The Hand

    by MrD

filmstu - Given all that has transpired, it shouldn't be shocking that Rick is a bit bug nuts. It's more shocking the rest of the group isn't. This is a coping mechanism, a way to give him closure, and I think it works as a narrative mechanism. As for the hand, it's staying. Kirkman has admitted it was a mistake to chop it off in the comics, because it has been nothing but a pain in the ass since then.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 10:12 p.m. CST

Okay, they're starting to lose me again

    by Monroville

Both Maggie AND Glen had guns on Merle (with their fingers on their triggers), so when Merle clumsily groped behind him to grab his back gun, why didn't either or both of them waste Merle? And how did Merle get to Maggie so fast without her even firing a shot? And plus -1 for the ninja zombie behind Darryl. And another -10 for Andrea being total playa bait. But it could be worse... the comics are nothing but "build you up and tear you down" to the point of institutionalizing it.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 10:14 p.m. CST

But will Glen meet the vampire bat?

I wonder if Andrea is playing the Governer

    by Adam Jones

She's flip flopping more then Romney did during the elections. First she says she doesn't like the arena stuff, then when she see's her 'freedom' being taken away, ala, not needed at the wall anymore, the one place she knows she can escape if necessary, she says she does like the arena stuff. Now she's getting all cozy with the Govrner to gain his trust only to allow her to sneak around perhaps??? I haven't read any of the comics so I really don't know but I could see it leaning this way.

  • Nov. 18, 2012, 10:28 p.m. CST

Oh, and tonight really wasn't all "A Big One" imho.

  • Characters freezing because if they acted normally, it'd interfere with the script. I'm with Dagwood, this episode was a major drop-off from the quality of the first three. Too many placeholder scenes, characters back to being script robots.

  • ... and this episode?

Have Glenn and Maggie ever killer anyone before?

    by Randy

Maybe it being a living person screwed them up, as they didn't go through what Rick did and learn you gotta kill sometimes.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 12:48 a.m. CST

    Lame episode

    by LethargicJ

Not the worst episode of WD ever but certainly the worst this season. We've had a fairly action packed season so far but this one seemed to go back into season 2 form of not enough zombie, way too much pointless talking. That story that Daryl told about his mom felt like a useless 3 hours of TV all by itself. Then those horrible Governor/Andrea scenes were just nauseating. I was extremely bored for much of the show. I agree with the people saying Rick isn't going to lose his hand. Practically it seems like it would be too much of a hassle to be fooling around with hiding your lead actor's hand for the rest of the series. Much like how they switched Dale losing his leg to Herschel losing is leg, it seems to me that they're switching that Rick/Michonne kidnapping story from the books to Glen and Maggie for the show. Wouldn't be surprised to see Glen be the one to lose his hand and Maggie the one raped and tortured.

Hmmm...Glenn was part of the group that left Merle handcuffed on the roof. Wasn't too happy about that. And he's racist. Merle is a racist asshole, can't see Glenn ever liking him to begin with. Mystery solved.

After the last two eps, an ep without mass zombie-murder was needed.

    by Humie Bubbie

It had to slow down at some point, the last 5 episodes were non-stop. Darryl being the new Tyrese kind of makes sense. I was kind of hoping Oscar would be some version of him, he's at least the right size and look. And Michonne is a one-dimensional character, even in the comics. She kills things, she fucks any black guy that joins the group, and occasionally says that she used to be a lawyer. She's not complicated, she doesn't need to be.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 1:58 a.m. CST

    Play to your strengths

    by Truxton Spangler

TWD has lots going for it. This season has been a definite improvement. But this episode bogged down a bit, and brought back some memories of S2. Two more to go before the mid-season break, right? What will they have in store?

  • But in that episode, Glen turned to jello, so yeah. Who knows. Inconsistent character development isn't above TWD's writers, but in this they may be consistent. Still felt too forced though. Glen and/or Maggie should have got a shot off before Merle.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 3:34 a.m. CST

@lethargicj, you're right but you got it backwards

dandelien, why they want to kill Michonne. Pretty simple...

    by FreeBeer

...Same reason Glenn wouldn't tell Merle where Daryl was, they don't want people going off telling people where they lay their heads. Simple. The Governor has a good thing going and he wants to protect it.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 5:54 a.m. CST

This season is much better Andrea -

    by unfaithfullyyours

    - is all over the place. I also don't believe anything she says. This would have been helped by them showing us a bit of what her life was like for all those lost months. The pacing and placement of her scenes at the beginning was really weird and wonky. Also I still have no idea who Michinne is, what her backstory us or why she's important. That story really needs to rise up to the level of everything else which is really much much better and really engaging.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 6 a.m. CST

    Rick's back from the crazy

    by Cinemajerk

Havent read the comics, but the tv show obviously condensed the phone thing down to one episode rather than dragging it out. All the Dead people on the phone were in Rick's head, telling him the only safe place was death. Rick was on the edge after Lori's death and wracked with guilt and regret, as anyone would be. He could have chosen death...but decided life was better. Him hanging up on Lori, and the static on the line was basically Rick coming back to reality. He won't be picking up the phone again IMHO.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 6:08 a.m. CST

Andrea would have sex with Charles Manson

    by Cinemajerk

She certainly has a thing for unstable psycho killers doesn't she? First Shane. Then flirting with racist Merle for crying out loud! And now getting all googly eyed and bedding the Govenor? WTF?! Bitch has issues. she doesn't exactly know about the Gov's private head collection and toothless zombie daughter in the closet....but...still. She dropped her BFF Mischonne to stay in Woodbury and fuck the Gov? Can't wait until she breaks the Svengali like spell the Gov has over her and start kicking ass. Mischonne is my new fav character.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 6:16 a.m. CST

Glenn would have been killed by Greedo...

    by Cinemajerk

Let's face it, Glenn is no Han Solo. He obviously doesn't shoot first. You'd think the Zombie Apocolypse would have harden him up a bit. Especially with his girl by his side. Heck, he even told Herschel back at the jail how he wished they'd have killed all the prisoners first. Guess he wish he'd have shot Merle too. Doh! Maybe NEXT time he won't hesitate. But now he is tied to a chair about to get beaten. And Maggie is in the next room about to get physically abused by the Gov most likely. I think if Glenn makes it out of this, he will exact his revenge.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 6:58 a.m. CST

    Another good ep.

    by rakesh patel

Got to say I'm really happy with how s3 is progressing. nice back and forth between the stories. stories are progressing nice towards the eventual showdown. ricks breakdown handled well, even the quietness of the aftermath where everyone is not saying much is done well, rick does bat an eyelid when glen says he's going to make a run for formula, he knows the group is taking care of things. i lol'd when Merle said to the governor who died and still couldn't remember gargiulo's name. As well as the prisoner dude who wanted slippers. everything is making sense apart from Andrea and her choice in men and friends. I'm surprised that Merle didnt order Glenn to take him to see Daryl straight away, i would have thought that was his first priority especially considering that merle to some extent is bound by the guvs conventions. I liked how miccone just walked up to the fence. smart. ( probably been easier if she had a car ...) but yes, that approach had some forthought.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 7:12 a.m. CST

    cant blame glenn or maggie.

    by rakesh patel

Glenn knew he was an asshole, but he';s been side by side with daryyl for the last year. they've probably saved each others life a dozen times. it still would be a bit awkward for him to say " hey, guess what! saw your brother today and shot him!" he did what he saw was reasonable by getting darryl to come to him. ( although has to be said i wouldn't have gone for that option either, Merles been abandoned once by these people, what's teh guarantee they're not going to do it again?) Poor Maggie was following glenns lead. she doesnt know merle but knows of him through daryl. daryls a good guy, why shoot his brother if they can avoid it. i it went done seems pretty believable, although as i said before i would have though merle would have demanded they go and see daryl.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 8:26 a.m. CST

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 8:31 a.m. CST

    by Drew

Michonne still isn't half interesting or bad ass. I really was wishing Rick would shoot her in the head. The archer girl on the wall had more "comic" Andrea feel to her than the "tv" Andrea. I almost wonder if they did that on purpose. Something tells me Maggie is going to get raped but not by the Gov. I think Merle will be rapist.

Glad it slowed down a bit because the last few weeks were very intense. The guy playing Rick deserves an Emmy. He is a great actor. Shows so much feeling and emotion. Good stuff. Michonne rocks. She's all killer and loves doing it. Yes the Merle vs. Glenn and Maggie scene was a bit sloppy but I was okay with it. Glad Carol was found alive. I knew she was not dead so all you fuckers who told me I was wrong last week can suck it.

How about Merle/The Govenor cutting off Darryl's hand instead?

    by Scott Baiowulf

Darryl has been Rick's #2 essentially taking the place of Tyrese in the comics. Since it's been announced by Kirkman that "A fan favorite from the comics will be introduced in epiosde 8", I'm betting Tyrese will finally arrive. Once Merle finally reunites with Darryl he might be none too pleased to find how much he's become attached to the man responsible for him losing his hand. It'd be a great way to keep an element of the comic without having it happen to Rick. As for the Maggie/Michonne switch, judging by the clip on Talking Dead last night with Merle beating Glenn and still getting no info, it'd make sense that them torturing Maggie would be what makes him break and give up the prison location. It's actually a much better play than the comic. He's much closer to TV Maggie than he was comic Michonne and he still gave up the prison to stop her from being tortured. 6 for 6 so far this year. Can't wait to see how the mid season finale plays out in two weeks!

    by FitnaTheForbiddenMovie

That Glenn isn't going to make it out of this season alive. In the comic (SPOILER), Tyrese gets his head cut off by the Governor in front of the prison gate. I can totally see him doing it to Glenn to force Rick to open the door. That would bring Glenn's fate up to speed with the comics. I'm more curious about Darryl, though. He's become such a great guy, it would be a shame if he turned on Rick and joined with his brother.

    by Humie Bubbie

It should be easy enough for her to find it on a map at that little strip mall after hearing Glen and Maggie mention it. And they didn't necessarily drive there because it was far. They drove there for the protection of the truck and to carry the supplies back.

  • @hardboiled wonderland Michael Emerson does appear to have aged dramatically since season 1. Perhaps he gained then lost some weight. @cinemajerk Thanks for the comic view point there. I gleaned a little of that from the TV version, but the "safe place" = "death" did not dawn on me till you pointed that out. I do like Rick's mini-arc in this season, though. Someone else lamented that Michonne's pet zombies had an awesome back story that was wasted by the TV show. That does suck. How do they make awful mistakes like that? Woodbury science-nerd implied that Michonne was using the neutered zombies for camouflage. Now it makes less sense that Michonne is surprised that having zombie stink on her gives her zombie-stealth. Finally, how is Daryl not deaf/reeling from having prison-black-guy shoot 4-6 times next to his ear without warning?

    Thnx Prem1x...

    by Cinemajerk

I'm digging the season so far too. I take what I wrote about how Glenn should have shot Merle. After thinking about it, under the circumstances, I understand why he may have hesitated. He still has alittle humanity left in him, unlike Merle who is a stone cold pscyho killer. Should be interesting when Merle meets back up with his bro Daryl and Rick meets up with the Gov. Guess that will be the cliffhanger till Feb. I am also sure that Andrea is bound to lose her puppy dog crush on the Gov once she finds out what a sick fuck he is. Or she has to chose between the Gov and the old group. I'm glad Rick is back from crazy land. The way he held "Little kick-ass" pretty much confirmed he's back. Which I think is a good thing. Excited about Mischonne finally joining the group. A group I think she will be happy to join unlike the whack jobs in Woodbury. Lol. Next weeks preview seems to hint that Rick & the gang go on a rescue mission to get Glenn & Maggie back. I do hope Glenn & Maggie make it out of Woodbury alive. But that's what's so great about this show....ya never really sure whose safe. All in all....this season looks to be heading toward one hell of a climax!

    Prem1x- About Michonne

    by angry kitty

My guess is that she used the zombie pets to help with being among the walkers - based on visual appearance? The presence of these walkers was the key. She may not have made the connection with the smell being the primary factor, which is what this show seems to be leaning towards in terms of new walker "rules of engagement"

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 12:18 p.m. CST

I also am glad Carol is alive!

    by Cinemajerk

The love developing between her & Daryl is as strong as the one btwn Glenn & Maggie. I think you need that in a show like this. Fighting for a group or self survival is all well and good in a zombie Apocolypse....but real relationships make it more interesting. I always kinda looked at TWD as a soap opera with zombies. And ya gotta have some soap in a soap opera just like ya gotta have zombies in a zombie Apocolypse! Heh heh heh ;-) Anyway....

Merle's hand was self chopped off, and I remember thinking that was a nod to the comics, knowing they'd never chopped one of the main character's hands off. Or they might. Who knows with this show.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 2:38 p.m. CST

I can see why Mischonne goes to the prison...

    by Cinemajerk

Not really. For one thing, she is shot in the leg. And for another, she observed Glenn & Maggie talking and buying baby formula. If one thing is clear, it's that Mischonne is a GOOD judge of character. She saw thru the BS facade of Woodbury & the Govenor pretty damn quick. Her going to the prison with the baby formula is a calclated risk on her part. But it shows the caring side of her character. Plus it also gives her an opportunity to heal. Wether she stays with the group AFTER she heals up? Who knows. But to me it makes total sense. She may be a lone wolf samurai badass wondering the countryside in a zombie Apocolypse....but like the Samurai, she has honor. Remember Toshiro Mifune saving the baby from the burning building in the 7 Samurai? Anyway...that's my two cents on why it makes sense. Lookin forward to next weeks episode.

    by Cinemajerk

Heck...they gave Lori a c-section without anesthesia before her son shot her in the head and her corpse was devoured by a zombie who thought it was Thanksgiving and ate till he couldn't walk! Shoot man! Cutting the hand off of a main character ain't no big deal in the zombie Apocolypse.

Give it time. Seriously. I rewatched season one before this season started. You know what character was basically a stereotype and I could have cared less for during season one? Daryl. Anyone who thinks they should kill off Michonne because she's a stereotypical "mad black woman" at this point needs to rewatch season one and tell me they should kill off the stereotypical "angry redneck".

  • The one Rick gave a walkie talkie to and told him to check it from time to time for a message. Thought he and his son had a cool story. Would like to see them show up again. Hey, perhaps a love interest for Mischonne? I wonder if he was ever able to shoot his wife? That was one of the creepiest saddest moments of season one when she wandered up to her old house. Anyway...sooooo many possibilities and side stories. This series could go on forever. Heh heh heh. Love it.

I am sure there's a reason. First, he doesn't know there is a prison. He's assuming they've found someplace nice because they look cleanish. Second, he's going in alone to his old group's camp, when the only person that MIGHT be on his side would be his brother? Get them to Woodbury, get the information and take a FORCE to the prison. Plus he'll get brownie points from the Gov for finding all this out.

    Its a Beautiful day

  • I can't believe what I've read on this thread. Pacing is what this show has needed and it got it this season, in spades. Kudos to the writers, all of whom have punched it up from "Little House on the Undead Pairie". Okay, with that rant out the way, let's get down to brass tacks. Between Carrie Mathieson (Claire Danes) on Homeland hooking up with Brody yet again and Andrea hooking up with the Governor, it's been a week of bad choices for blondes. I am appalled by her characterization on the show. She's willing to throw her friendships to the wind and aside from being something of a crackshot, she has become exactly nothing like the book version of her character. Next episode should be phenomenal. I am looking forward to the tension in those interrogation/torture scenes in Ep. 7. Here the departure from the book will bring on another dimension, b/c instead outright badasses like Michonne involved, we now have Maggie in a very vulnerable position and I don't know what Glenn is going to do about that. Other than that, I am encouraged overall and look forward to Michonne finally joining the group.

  • He would have been more likely to make them take him back to the prison, but not all the way, just enough to see where it is, then he'd kill glenn rape maggie then kill her, then go back to the governor and plan an attack to raid the prison. I know the rumor is that glen is going to get offed this season so maybe they just wanna play it out and have his death be the mid season cliffhanger but come on, Merle is acting out of character

I'm genuinely disquieted by Maggie and Glenns probable fate. Glenn is almost certainly a dead man (after a fair bit of torture), and without a doubt Merle will be conducting an internal examination of Maggie with his COCK halfway through the next episode. But I have to agree with some people above - if that were me, I would have put a round into Merle without hesitation. After everything they've been through? Seriously, I'd probably just double tap him to the forehead. Then when he had a gun to Maggies head? Honestly, I would have prayed and put one between his frontal lobes. Maybe he'd have popped her instinctively, maybe not. But you let him have control, and bottom line it's only going one way - and that's not your way. As it is, while she'll survive her part of the ordeal, I think he's as dead as a doornail.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 7:20 p.m. CST

@redhead: out of character and stupid.

    by tailhook

One thing both Meryl and Daryl haven't been shown as is stupid. And your contention that Meryl all of a sudden is going to take detours and start raping and killing like some madman is stupid. Not to mention, if you happen to get spotted doing your little recon mission, the jig is up. Its perfectly sensible to get them back to town to where they can be secured, and simply work them over for the information you need and use that to then bring reinforcements and plan a mission for the next day to wipe them out. But simply going off at the hip trying to do last minute unexpected recon? No. Thats not Merle. He got what he needed, and he got back to safety to where he could get more.

  • It's very pulp-y, if that makes sense. Like it isn't particularly very good writing, and the character work has some gaping holes here and there, but -- season 2 spots notwithstanding -- a lot of very dramatic stuff is very often happening, it's almost soap opera-ish in this way, but with a much bigger budget and higher concept. There's a lot of twists and mysteries abound, and that's what I think keeps people coming back, despite the fact that it'll never been mistaken for anything the likes of Aaron Sorkin, David Chase or David Simon might write.

  • Nov. 19, 2012, 7:31 p.m. CST

and yea I hate to say I was rather dissapointed by Glenn...

    by TheSeeker7

Even though I'd never really thought about this until now, Glenn might very well be my favorite character, he's probably the one I relate to the most (not hurt by the fact that I've got a huge crush on Maggie lol), and he REALLY dropped the ball there. He was totally in the right there to have shot Merle right between the eyes, it was simple self-defense at that point, and instead he runs, then lets Maggie get caught. And yea I agree with the one person above, it might've even been worth taking the chance to fire at Merle's head even when he did have Maggie in a choke hold.<br> <br> I'm just soooooooooo glad that Carol's alive. And not even anything to do with me loving her character or anything, but just that if she really were dead, as it seems lots of us people were afraid she had the last couple weeks, that would've been some massively shitty writing on the show's part. When we nor even any characters saw her die, to have it almost just have it in passing like that... thank god it wasn't so.

very good - I never thought of that. That would give Andrea something to find out, to make her sour on the Gov. by ghost_matt

Watch the promo for next week. When Glenn is sitting at the table it looks like his arm is all bandaged up. They definitely should have put a bullet in him the moment he started going into his patented "good old boy Merle" speak. They could have buried him somewhere and Daryl would have never known nor cared. Even if he did find him somehow they don't ever have to say they ran into him. Also when Merle had her like that a gun shot that close up near the center of his face means instant death, no way he pulls a trigger. Look at some gore sites, there are some sharp shooter videos out there taking guys out who have guns right on other people and they just fall backward and the gun flips out of their hands lol. And that is a shot from a long distance away, a gun shot from 5 feet and his half his head gets blown off.

Merle interrogates Glenn, tries to make him sound like the bad guy for leaving him on the roof in Atlanta. Maggie can hear Glenn being beaten from the next room over. The walkers by the prison catch on to Michone's disguise. She fights for her life and passes out. Carl and Rick save her and bring her in. Poor Michone has gone from one prison to the next, locked up and swordless. Carol reunites with the rest of the group. Michone tells Rick's group about Woodbury. One interrogation down! Merle continues working on Glenn, who's face is looking pretty fucked up by now. Glenn threatens that Rick will come looking for him, along with Shane, Dale, Jim, Andrea... Merle is amused. Herschel stitches up Michone. Rick and co plan a rescue mission. Carl and Rick have another father-son talk. Carl's the man of the house while Rick's gone. Carl names his sister "Judith." Over the course of the episode, Andrea helps Milton with a zombie experiment. The subject is an elderly man who's volunteered to have his transformation be observed. Milton uses a record player and other audio/visual cues to study whether any trace of the conscious or subconscious lingers in the dead. The experiment winds up being a complete failure and Andrea has to put the poor guy down for good. Merle turns up the heat on Glenn. He lets a hungry zombie loose in the room while Glenn is forced to fight while still bound to a chair. Glenn makes an impressive stand against the walker and is able to kill it by smashing his chair into a wall and using a shard of wood. Meanwhile, Merle tells The Governor that Glenn isn't breaking and he's going to work on Maggie next. The Governor replies that's alright, he'll take care of it himself. Maggie won't talk, so The Governor orders her to stand up and take off her shirt, or else he'll bring Glenn's hand to her. He takes off his belt and bends Maggie over. Cut to commercial before we see the end of the interrogation. Did they or didn't they? A definitive answer is given in a later episode. The Governor does not go all the way off-camera. The rescue group goes it on foot and is soon surrounded by walkers in the forest. They take refuge in a not-so-abandoned cabin. The owner has been living under a rock and is very confused about the whole zombie apocalypse thing, waves a shotgun around and tries to open the door to the swarming walkers outside. Michone stabs him. Rick tosses the body out the front door as a distraction while the group sneaks out the back.
