Not nearly as good as first two seasons of Galactica, and also kind of pointless. Give us a sequel dammit, set in our future.

Given what happens to Starbuck at the end of the series, she could even return in any sequel stories

Course, any Cylon models could also return, recreated by the decendents of the Cylons that flew off in search of their own homeworld at end of series

As to why they took the tailguns and engines out off the Raptors. I can think of a couple situations in the series where tailguns would have come in handy.

Don't like watching stuff this way, it's like a commercial break that lasts a week before the show comes back on

We need something NEW. Caprica should never have been turned into a prequel.
by Raptor Jesus
New science fiction. Please.
-
...and they don't make it into a full series. Maybe next they can do a one-off 'Battlestar Galactica: Fur and Whirs', featuring specially-trained Daggit Viper pilots?

The 3 minute trailer for what would have been season 2 of Caprica..
by CeejayNightwing
Showed that the wait would have been worth it. Boody dumb ass fanboys ruined everything by boycotting the show because they just wanted to see space battles!

B&C's not bad so far, though I keep getting distracted by one thing...
by Bill C.
...the wait for the "war is hell" moment that makes William Adama sympathetic. Thus far, he's been a stereotypical gung-ho Maverick-type dick with fleeting moments of sensitivity...the other characters have been more interesting, IMO. That said I'm wondering what they might be holding back, materialwise, for the announced unrated home video release...
-
I'm digging this. One full season of the entire cylon war would be awesome.
-
Wow, honestly I think this really needs to be more than just a two hour movie event. I think they could build a whole series out of this. With a target of about 6 to 7 seasons. I think this is what Syfy needs to start rebuilding it scripted shows.
-
I think that moment will come at some point, however we are getting Adama at the very beginning of his career there is still a ton of seasoning that will need to happen before we that kind of moment from this young Adama. He hasn't grown into that Admiral we see in the Original reboot.
-
Please! Seriously, this rocks. And IMO there needs to be some actual Space Opera on TV. Someone somewhere has the power. Don't let this one slip away.
-
And far better than I ever expected since the news broke it would not go to series. A shame. I guess this is what Lucas was talking about when he said he wanted TV quality CG effects to be affordable and polished enough for that Star Wars Underworld thingy.
-
It just doesn't help that this version of him is such a jerk (albeit with a faint hint of the older Adama peeping through in episode three). I'm hoping that "war is hell" moment is a whopper by relation, though, so perhaps it's entirely deliberate...

AMC or one of the paid cable networks like HBO or Showtime should adapt The Lost Fleet series into a show
by lv_426
The Lost Fleet books have a premise that is similar to Battlestar Galactica. There are already about six books in the series so far, which leaves plenty to adapt from if the first season were to be a hit.
-
I'm so glad that Syfy, in their infinite wisdom, decided to devote their resources towards more episodes of "Ghost Hunters", "Paranormal Whatever" and "Giant Shark v. Giant Octopus", instead of bringing this to series. They are the best.
-
The problem is that the president of SyFy has gone on record as saying she doesn't like 'space opera' - so the odds were always against this going to series. That's why the channel has "Haven", "Paranormal This", "Ghost That", "Supernatural Whatever", and "Reality Show About Make Up" instead of a show like "Blood & Chrome".
-
Not lil girls in lame matrix to lame frame robot, ghost hunters who turn out the lights and scare each other, wrastling, or alligatorhippotamusrex!
-
Thats a shame then because its nixing something out of personal bias instead of thinking it through. But I guess the idea is that the shows they have on now are "ratings winners". Never the less BSG had great ratings when it was on. IMO Blood and Chrome would bring that back big time. A lot of fans seem to be digging it so far.
-
I always thought the most interesting thing about BSG, what kept it from being a cartoon or a retarded version Starship Troopers, was the Cylons, what they were, how they evolved, where they would go next. At the end of BSG, that terrible fucked up ending, the one interesting thing was that shipload of the last Cylons taking off into space. Where did they go? What did they do next? Did they continue to evolve? And then we got the prequel Caprica which in many ways was seriously flawed, and numbingly slow, but ultimately it raised a lot of interesting questions about the inner life of the Cylon, how it achieved self-awareness, and what that means. So the idea that they're just going back to a shoot-em up space opera seems incredibly boring to me.

warrenbishop and hughhoyland -- how about instead of space opera SyFy could do shark opera?
by lv_426
Battleshark Oceananica It would be set in the future on Earth, during wars over energy and with giant high tech submarines and mega battleships, and sharks of course. Sort of a cross between Battlestar Galactica and Seaquest.
-

But, lv_426, that would mean they'd actually have to spend real money...
by Bill C.
And it's obvious that that idea became full-blown anathema to the beancounters-in-charge years ago. ('Defiance' might be the new exception that proves the rule, I don't know.)
-
Also, is it my imagination or does the Raptor design look identical to the Raptors from the original show? If this take place decades earlier, shouldn't the Raptor look different?
-
I love the way they portray the ships moving in zero-g. Not quite scientifically-accurate, but not Star Wars-style biplane dogfights either. A nice balance between the two extremes.
-
No, it is different. Different engines. Different rear wings. Different weapons.
-
Shark Opera! Don't give them any ideas!! Haha. Thanks again for the reading suggestions. I'm in the middle of "The Fall of Hyperion". I just read a passage that was one of the most interesting things I've read in sci-fi. Sad that Syfy decides to go for 'lowest common denominator' 9 times out of 10. I was tempted to write 100% of the time. Perhaps 'Defiance' will be decent - but I'm not holding my breath.
-
Huge BSG fan, I like this series, especially the way the Galactica is teeming with staff as it should be. Sometimes it's visually busy but way better than a single full-size prop and three people standing around a tiny (obvious) sound stage. The kid playing Adama is quite good, the end of the Second Chapter has some awesome destruction eye candy, iIam loving it and if you are truly a fan you will too. All others continue bitching and pissing over free, well done content.
-
The set piece is the Raptor from BSG, just re-built. But yeah, new canopy, whole new rear end, gun turret.

So did anyone else yell at the screen "THEY DID NEED TO KNOW THAT!" when she said they weren't on a need to know about the damn challenge passwords? WTF
-
Seemed like a need to know detail to me.
