Agent Coulson from Hot Toys

Some days you have to wonder whether celebrities appreciate the honor bestowed upon them via their personalized action figures. It’s a big deal. Getting your very own mass marketed toy means you’ve finally arrived into the cultural zeitgeist. Toy companies assume that consumers will pay good money to own a piece of plastic with your likeness. Considering Agent Phil Coulson’s importance to the Marvel cinematic universe, you have to wonder why we’ve had to wait this long for an official action figure of Clark Gregg. The wait will soon be over. Gregg released the first official photo of his new 1/6 scale Coulson on his Twitter feed yesterday with the message, “And now this aging fanboy can die happy…” I like that Clark Gregg. We'll be sure to post more pics and info about the figure as it comes in.

Castle Grayskull Update from MattyCollector.com

Matty has officially announced that Castle Grayskull is a go. The company reached the minimum order goal and will produce a new 6.5-inch scale playset for its Masters of the Universe Classics line of toys. The original 1981 prototype will serve as the basis of the design, with the addition of an extra battle ledge, elongated jaw/face, a removable minaret on top of the dome and more. The set will cost He-Man fans $250 and arrive in the later part of 2013. It’s up for pre-order here until January 4.

Arkham City Wave 4 from DC Collectibles

Why would anyone live in Arkham City? If crazy folks like Deadshot, Talia al Ghul, Nightwing and Batman make nightly appearances on your streets and rooftops, it’s time to move. As a warning for anyone thinking about moving to the big city, DC Collectibles will issue a new wave of action figures based on the popular videogame. These 7-inch scale toys will come packaged with characters specific accessories in March.

D-Arts Megaman from Bandai

His fans in Japan know him as Rockman. Here in the USA we call him Megaman. This classic videogame hero will soon celebrate his 25th birthday with a new D-Arts action figure from Bandai. It will feature an extensive array of accessories including shot effect parts, 2 interchangeable faces, an additional right arm Mega Buster, swappable hands and his trusty robo-mutt Rush. Look for him to arrive in the states this February or he’s available for pre-order here.

Santa Gizmo from NECA

You may not want to leave cookies for this Santa on Christmas Eve, because if he delivers your presents after midnight, very bad things could happen. Based on his appearance in the 1984 classic Gremlins, this version of Gizmo features a new head sculpt, a Santa hat, candy cane and trumpet. This fully poseable Mogwai also has the moving eye mechanism found in NECA’s other Gremlins action figures. He will be a Toys "R" Us exclusive this holiday season.

And finally this week, Thinkway Toys sent me a box of electronic goodness. They offered to let me review The Dark Knight Rises Infrared RC Interactive Bane and Batman action figures, but they threw in a couple other toys into the mix. Here's an unboxing preview of a few items that we'll be reviewing in the coming weeks...

That's it this week. Be sure to follow my toy blog ArticulationTimes.com on Twitter and Facebook and subscribe to the AICN Youtube channel.
