AICN Toys: Hot Toys Agent Coulson!! Castle Grayskull!! Megaman!! ARKHAM CITY!! Santa Gizmo!! And More!!

John Ary here with a quick look at a few action figure lines making headlines this week. As always click on the photos for an embiggened pic and for more information follow the pre-order links...
Agent Coulson from Hot Toys
Some days you have to wonder whether celebrities appreciate the honor bestowed upon them via their personalized action figures. It’s a big deal. Getting your very own mass marketed toy means you’ve finally arrived into the cultural zeitgeist. Toy companies assume that consumers will pay good money to own a piece of plastic with your likeness. Considering Agent Phil Coulson’s importance to the Marvel cinematic universe, you have to wonder why we’ve had to wait this long for an official action figure of Clark Gregg. The wait will soon be over. Gregg released the first official photo of his new 1/6 scale Coulson on his Twitter feed yesterday with the message, “And now this aging fanboy can die happy…” I like that Clark Gregg. We'll be sure to post more pics and info about the figure as it comes in.
Castle Grayskull Update from MattyCollector.com

Matty has officially announced that Castle Grayskull is a go. The company reached the minimum order goal and will produce a new 6.5-inch scale playset for its Masters of the Universe Classics line of toys. The original 1981 prototype will serve as the basis of the design, with the addition of an extra battle ledge, elongated jaw/face, a removable minaret on top of the dome and more. The set will cost He-Man fans $250 and arrive in the later part of 2013. It’s up for pre-order here until January 4.
Arkham City Wave 4 from DC Collectibles
Why would anyone live in Arkham City? If crazy folks like Deadshot, Talia al Ghul, Nightwing and Batman make nightly appearances on your streets and rooftops, it’s time to move. As a warning for anyone thinking about moving to the big city, DC Collectibles will issue a new wave of action figures based on the popular videogame. These 7-inch scale toys will come packaged with characters specific accessories in March.
D-Arts Megaman from Bandai

His fans in Japan know him as Rockman. Here in the USA we call him Megaman. This classic videogame hero will soon celebrate his 25th birthday with a new D-Arts action figure from Bandai. It will feature an extensive array of accessories including shot effect parts, 2 interchangeable faces, an additional right arm Mega Buster, swappable hands and his trusty robo-mutt Rush. Look for him to arrive in the states this February or he’s available for pre-order here.
Santa Gizmo from NECA

You may not want to leave cookies for this Santa on Christmas Eve, because if he delivers your presents after midnight, very bad things could happen. Based on his appearance in the 1984 classic Gremlins, this version of Gizmo features a new head sculpt, a Santa hat, candy cane and trumpet. This fully poseable Mogwai also has the moving eye mechanism found in NECA’s other Gremlins action figures. He will be a Toys "R" Us exclusive this holiday season.
And finally this week, Thinkway Toys sent me a box of electronic goodness. They offered to let me review The Dark Knight Rises Infrared RC Interactive Bane and Batman action figures, but they threw in a couple other toys into the mix. Here's an unboxing preview of a few items that we'll be reviewing in the coming weeks...
That's it this week. Be sure to follow my toy blog ArticulationTimes.com on Twitter and Facebook and subscribe to the AICN Youtube channel.

I finshed Arkham City without even seeing Riddler or Deadshot once
by Autodidact
I had this feeling all through that game that I was playing it wrong.

CACA!!! Actually that's pretty cool.

I don't know why anyone would want an Agent Coulson figure...

don't you guys run out of room in your abodes for all your collections?
by IAmLegolas
or do you end up getting storage units? What's the point of collecting something if it's not out on display and you can't physically see it? I was in the collecting game from 1996-2006 but tapped out after buying a Lord of the Rings RISK game that sat in the closet for a year (and even bothering to swap it out when the "complete" Trilogy version came out). You run out of room and it never, ever stops. Nothing will ever replicate the enjoyment of the movie, TV show or comic it's based on.

John, did they send you the Vanellope Von Schweetz and her Racing Kart figure set?
by Kamaji
If so, how much do you want for it? I'm looking for one to review/compare to the Disney Store version for my entertainment blog.

he's ok - I wouldn't go as far as to say the mutha fucker's great...
by Righteous Brother
and in essense, a figure of him - is just a figure of a middle aged man in a suit.

Let's play! I'm agent Coulson! No way you got to be agent Coulson last time. Mahhmm!!!
by UltraTron

I didn't look too closely at the Vanellope, but I don't think it includes her racing kart.
-
As someone who has moved around a lot (6 states in 12 years) I've given away or sold much of my collection. I consider it "cycling." I keep my favorites in a box. Once I run out of room in the box, it's time to make some difficult decisions.
-
And Coulson's likeness isn't even the best of them. There's a large Black Widow figure that looks exactly like Scarlet Johansson. Even in close-up. See? http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=901888#gallery

Anyways I was going to preorder the Castle Grayskull and I was a day late and it said "No longer available" and was under the goal. Then all the sudden it made the goal 2 days after it expired and is available again. Weird politics Mattel. Plus after the whole Hover Board mess Mattel had I decided why pay $250 for something I can custom make bigger and better for less then $100.

As the famous 40 Year Old Virgin quote goes...
by openthepodbaydoorshal
" Is that the Six Million Dollar Man's boss? That's Oscar Goldman." Isn't there a Dirty Dancing "action figure", so Gregg can pose with his wife Jennifer Grey?

The bro-appeal designs for the Arkham Asylum/City video games
by Bedknobs and Boomsticks
are hideous.

Yo, I am so stoked that this playset will get made!! The Four Horsemen are the best sculpters in the biz, and their love for Masters of the Universe is apparent in every thing they create. This will be the best playset of all time!!

The Christmas of 1983, ROTJ stuff was sold out, so I got Greyskull instead..
by tickled_by_elmo
I loved it, although I do wish I would have got that Ewok village.. Ewoks suck, I know, but the 7 year old me sure wanted the village with the booby trap net and the C-3PO throne.. The trap door in the throne room on Castle Greyskull was pretty awesome though..

Yay, finally, an action figure of Bland, Faceless Government Suit-and-Tie Man!
by buggerbugger
I can kill him over and over again and none of the other action figures will even notice! Pew! Pew! Pew!
-
pass.
-
Take away the emotional man crush on Captain America subplot from the Avengers and he's just Mr. Exposition. After a couple of movies where he's just a 2 dimensional suit for Shield, they figured they needed to shoehorn in some backstory about his treasured captain america cards. Other than that, he's just a redshirt.
-
Not to mention there's been a little inflation over the last thirty years. I guarantee Phil Coulson costs quite a bit more than a 12 inch Luke Skywalker did in 1982.
-
There's no "bag of flour" accessory. They even included the damn trading cards, but left out his most iconic weapon-what the hell?
-
Since he couldn't decide.

Once you did it right and stopped the assassination then you fought him. it wasnt integral to the game but it was an awesome feeling going against the master assassin. the ridler trophy rooms was fucking hard i was able to only unlock one of them. there was more, but i just didnt have goddamn time!
-
My nephew collects all the Hot Toys 12 inch figures. ALL of them. An Avengers fan would want Coulson as much as they'd want that lame Hawkeye or "guy in a long leaner coat" Nick Fury.
-
Theres many things id collect wreck it ralph toys not on the radar hate i mean HATE Sarah Silverskank! Hated her in every movie shes been in hated her tv show hated here appearance in that adam sandler comedy!
-
LoL in 1977 i got the pre release set of obi wan leia c3p0 r2d2 chewbacca luke han and vader. Yes the telescopic vader luke and obiwan pre recall Consumers sold them for like 8 bucks for the box. was awesome. 1983 i got the entire line of gi joe Humungus to an 8 yr old aircraft carrier a few jets jeeps tanks and like 20 action figures along with most of the transformers line.. nothing good came out in 1983 for starwars as RTOJ was released SUMMER 1984! Dumbass! Hence NO EWOK anything for another year! whent he movie released and the toy lines were created!
-
Looks like they found a batch of unsold crap from the 1980s release and line of toys no one wanted repackaged them all and are trying to resell at a obscene mark up!. Look at it no articulation, metal skeletal system, arms leggs attached by rubber band. Just like they used to make toys in the 1980s. In reality it looks so well made for the 1980s be a collectors piece just to show how much toys have evolved into these great master pieces they sell today.. No? Go to Ebay look up Luke Skywalker 1977 and compare that drab one mold toy to the 2012 collections hell compare it to the 2006 versions..
-
AWESOME
-
Return of the Jedi came out on May 25 1983 not in 1984!!!!! Also how did you get all the GiJoe aircraft carrier in 1983 when it was released in 1985? Are you joking by saying these things or are you the 'Dumbass"?
-
If you just zoomed through that game, you fucking wasted your time. Are you telling me you never saw the Mad Hatter? Or Hush? Or Azazel? You didn't find Nora Fries? Or capture the Riddler? Seriously dude, you didn't play that fucking game. Go back and do it properly. That game is the total fucking embodiment of The Dark Knight - fuck Nolan - and you blew it off.
-
It boggles the mind that someone could play that game and NOT see the big neon green question mark clues all over every single part of the game. No one could possibly be that stupid...or could they?
-
tho I dunno about him dating Aunt May As for Castle Grayskull, I'm so pumped it went through. I don't know if Young Justice is going to continue on matty since the the 2-pack did not reach the order minimum and the JLU 3-packs reportedly aren't doing well.
-
Nov. 19, 2012, 9:38 a.m. CST
I am feeling shame about Arkham City.. No, I didn't see Mad Hatter, or Hush, or Azazel, or find Nora Fries or capture Riddler. But yes of course I saw the big green question marks.
by Autodidact
I don't thihk I bothered with a single riddler challenge. Is that how all the other content you mentioned opens up? Apart from skipping Riddler quests I don't understand why my game ended so quickly. I was pretty surprised when the end titles came up. I think it even shows me only at like 22% completion or something. I didn't carry on with the Catwoman stuff because I'm not real interested in playing Catwoman and also I don't like the little minigame you have to play every time you land on a wall with her. Maybe I'll replay it.
-
...that Hot Toys Coulson isn't some $7.50 action figure you can pick up at your local TG&Y or Woolsworth.
