Listen To The Whole Of Howard Shore's Amazing Score To THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY For Free, Legally, And Now!!
Empire has it HERE! Lovely it is. So lovely.
I fell in love with Shore's scoring when he worked on David Cronenberg's THE FLY back in 1986...and have been rooting for him ever since. He knocked it out of the park with the LORD OF THE RING trilogy...and it sounds like he has here as well...

I very much enjoyed a lot of. Surprised to hear strains of A Shortcut to Mushrooms in one of the tracks. The Ring theme during the Gollum scene was surprisingly playful and sad at the same time. Eager to hear the whole thing!
-
I don't think it's up to the same standard as his work on the LotR.
-
is it region-restricted?
-
I wonder if we'll ever get to hear any of that one.
-
Don't pause if listening to that stream. It just goes back to the beginning of track 1, even if you are an hour in. Mute your speakers instead.
-
then I decided I wanted to listen to the first time on the screen. Going to save it when it's all together. Looking forward to this!
-
. . . no way I listen to it before I see it.

I'm usually not a sentimental guy buy listening to this and hearing the LOTR-theme in the first song made me teary-eyed for real. I remember 11 years ago when I went and bought tickets and the OST for FOTR. So much has happened in that time... So very, very much. Oh... and the music for the Hobbit is good. I think it's just as good as the LOTR-soundtrack but since we've already heard this partucular style from HS before the freshness has gone away and I think that is why some ppl doesn't like it as much as the LOTR-music.

Man, I remember listening to the TT and ROTK soundtracks before the films came out, and waiting in anticipation to see the music translated to a specific scene

He is a badass-- Silence of the Lambs-- and Ed Wood has the best score of any T. Burton film in my opinion (sorry Elfman).

It’ll be best to take it in all at once. If the dwarves’ song from the first trailer is any indication though, this should be a great score. I noticed the Neil Finn song had a lot of similarity to that one. I guess he was basing his on Shore’s song and not the other was around? Anyway, I can’t believe the movie is only a month away!

SINCE.

Honestly sounds better than the first one to me so far. More mythic and olde.

I like.

...in IMAX. Oh yeah. Can't wait. Just hope PJ's brought his A-game and not the bloat that was Kong. Thankfully no daily production diaries to kill the magic this time.
-
As Peter Jackson intended.

I almost thought I was listening to the Lois/Superman love theme from the original movie when I clicked "play"

I mean the man did create "The Blues Brothers" moniker. Still to this day, i can not believe he was shafted from the "King Kong" remake; even though Peter Jackson obsessed over James Newton Howard's "Dinosaur" score - the rest is debatable. The man will never fail in the fantasy genre.
-
Sure, the LORD OF THE RINGS and THE HOBBIT are great scores and all (and for those of you pining over the fact that his KONG score was rejected, isn't it actually BETTER that he wasn't associated with that?!?), but for my money, a far more impressive score is the one he did for CRASH, the Cronenberg one that nobody saw, not that other shitty movie called "CRASH". Shore did the whole thing on distorted electric guitars, phenomenal collection of music.

Looking forward to hearing Shore's latest accompanying the visuals, so I'll wait.

On a side note, I've been playing around with editing Jackson's King Kong for myself, and there's actually a terrific movie in there when certain things are removed and re-edited. The existing score has some reasonable moments, but I'll always wonder what Shore's Kong score would have sounded like. Unfortunately, The movie would have still needed a heap of trimming, regardless.
-
Seriously. That brought back a lot of great memories; when my friends (fellowship) and I leaved and breathed the LOTR films for 4 years. FANTASTIC SCORE!
-
JUST as PJ shot it.....uggggggghhhhhh Why can't it be Dec 14th already?????
-
It sounds wholly a lot like material that was unused from the LOTR trilogy. The ending song is magnificent however.
-
....but does anyone else think Shore snuck in a nod to his work in The Aviator?

Anyone else think it's strange that The Hobbit comes out in a month and there's still no buzz
by Knuckleface
There was more palpable anticipation for Tron Legacy than there is for this. Maybe people stopped caring when they found out they'd have to wait another 18 months for the ending???

Too bad I can totally forget anything streaming here in Ethiopia
by caipirina
well .. some more weeks and I can attempt a real download. But overall cool they make it available to wet people's appetite ... And when the movie comes out, I should be able to see it in a real movie theater ... sorry, does HFR means High Frame Rate? Something I remember from some theme park rides?
