HAWAII FIVE-0 To Remake
1973 Episode ‘Hookman’!!
When I read the EW headline “'Hawaii Five-0' to remake 'fan-favorite' episode of original series – EXCLUSIVE,” I knew – even though the original “Five-0” ran 284 episodes – it was going to be “Hookman,” the tale of a deranged amputee with ties to Steve McGarrett.
Michael O’Donoghue and Dan Aykroyd reference the episode early in this segment from Lorne Michaels' NBC-special-turned-motion-picture “Mr. Mike’s Mondo Video”:
“Star Trek” icon Peter Weller will both direct the episode and star as its title character.

Yeah, whenever I think about Star Trek Peter Weller comes to mind... ... ...
-
...holy fuck, the Hawaii 5-0 remake is still on the air? Seriously?
-
the Killer.
-
remember when weller appeared in house for about a minute?
-
he was alright in longmire
-
GOne too soon in dexter
-
Pretty good in the white tulip epsiode
-
wasted in 24 i thought

Never actually watched him in this. odd, because i am a sci fi fan, concept never gelled with me.
-
thats my tenuous star trek link.

Bet they want to remake the ep where Steve is temporarily blind
by kabong
and falls in love with a nurse played by that actress who was the mother in Happy Days.
No, not Erin Moran. She played the daughter. I said the mother.
Just forget it. Forget the whole thing. It's off. I'm getting off this thread.
One last thing: cancel that insult to Five-O.

One of 5-O's best episodes with one of Morton Stevens best scores
by fordat1
It was an episode that was just about as perfect as an episode could be. A Great Premise, well directed and cast, plus an INCEDIBILE score by the late Morton Stevens (who wrote the show's title theme).... It's going to be real interesting seeing how they pull this off with someone who really doesn't have hooks for hands.. But Weller is a really good director and actor and I'm sure he'll pull it off.
-
did you ever rememeber that dude from a man called sloane? dude had a proper metal hand.
-
rip john ritter. looks like a lot of that cast has had long periods of unemployment. apart from that chick who worked in eureka.
-
or "cum" as known to his mates. jesus that must have been awkward having a wank with that metal hand. useful if you wanted fresh coconut juice though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQjIzivlcsg

lol, and look at that, both dudes in a man called sloane and hooperman were in robocop.
by rakesh patel
My subconsciousness is running overtime.
-
That excriment(sp) known as Enterprise was not Star Trek, it was an abomination and what is so special about an episode called Hookman?
-
I don't want to know who's playing "Fat Captain Stubing Soaping Up In The Prison Shower" this time around.
-
I enjoyed Odyssey 5. Too bad it didn't last longer. Weller, Chris Gorham. Sebastian Roche played slimy/smarmy well as he always does. And the old dude from X-files. This version of 5-0 would be a decent procedural, but I just can't stand what passes for "chemistry" between McGarrett and his midget partner.
-
... at least Weller has had experience with having his hand shot off and replaced.
-
w/ songs composed by Neil Diamond, Neil Young and Neil Peart..
-
Dammit he WAS Stottlemeyer in that episode!

? So they couldn't reach a deal with Star Wars Icon Ahmed Best?
by theDORK
really?
-
You'd have heard a whoosh, but it was probably above the roof of the building you're in.
-
I usually associate him with Buckaroo Banzai or Robocop. Or even Screamers. Star Trek?
-
"Psych "icon" Peter Weller" - Psychon
-
He directed some great eps.
-
That movie seemed really messed up to me as a kid. Someone please tell me it is worth rewatching.

He was in Enterprise (the Trek series that wasn't called Star Trek)
by V'Shael
He played Colonel Phillip Green, who had appeared in Classic Trek episode The Savage Curtain. A xenophobic human-only racist leader from the Eugenic wars aftermath.

And am too durnk to care.

So say we all.

I wish Peter Weller played Steve McGarrett in the new Hawaii 5-0
by Royston Lodge
Then it might be a fun show.

I also wish Tom Selleck would do a sleaze-of-the-week role.
by Royston Lodge
The ratings for that episode would go through the fuckin' roof.
-
If you watch it and imagine (it doesn't take much imagination) McGarrett & Dan-O as a bitchy, gay couple, the show makes perfect sense; and is in fact, a helluva lot more enjoyable, downright hilarious at times.
-
If he's not one thing, he's another...
-
... I believed for a single second that any of those characters were actual cops. Dick Wolf should put together a Law & Order: Honolulu series and show 'em how it's fuckin' done.
-
just goes to show- no matter where you go, there you are.

Star Trek icon? What are you talking about? Seriously.

In the new series, McGarrett would be doing the soaping for him.

How about the Vashon trilogy? Or the "evil" Five O Team...
by matineer
There are so many good H50 TOS episodes. Hookman is excellent. It will be tough to match this at all, but I think Weller will turn in an excellent performance.
-
He did play the personification of ULTIMATE evil on the show.. Yin to Ally Sheedy's Yang.. and icon on 24? you mean the old fella who's wife got knee capped by the friggin Bauer? LOL.
-
does anyone remember the buddy merc comedy Fifty/Fifty? would soooo love to find that on dvd. It's just one of those weird lil movies that's really really hard to find. I never even see it on tv, kind of like RAD. anyway.. I won't begrudge the man work.. much like James Woods.. these are 2 guys who do NOT work as much as they should, and its always a hell of a blast to see them. Even his run on "Dexter". Hell I MIGHT (just MIGHT) have to break down and watch Hawaii 5-0 just to see this.
-
I just on a lark, I guess I've ALWAYS looked it up 50/50 and NEVER found it.. searched through Weller and found it, on dvd for 6 bucks!! So.. thank you yet again Amazon.. lol.
-
... the UK couldn't extradite the bastard! He's going to be on TV! Damn, Hollywood is powerful ...
-
Steve gets pulled into a alternate Hawaii and finds a dangerous evil Kono ruthlessly murdering her way to a position of absolute power and dictatorship. and she has a evil goatee.
-
Herc ALWAYS does this you bunch of freaking crybabys. And there are always people saying "Since when is ____ famous for ____" Fuck.
-
Everyone's in on the joke. It's more fun that the political bullshit some insist on posting on a geek movie site.
-
To be in on the joke, it would have to be funny. Is the guy who played Hookman, private eye J.J. Armes, still alive? http://old.tvrage.com/person/id-191307/Jay+J.+Armes Anybody got the action figure?
-
He would have hooked me.
-
I had the Jay J. Armes action figure back in the 70's. I remember it was damn well made
-

The best Peter Weller moment is tha boner he got in that movie.
by BigTuna
In the 90's, he did a low budget PI movie and had a love scene with that Brunette Baywatch chick and you can see his boner pop-out unscripted from his undies when she's on top of him Hilarious.
-
Nice. That was the character I remember from when my parents would let me stay up late in the summer and watch Five-0. And Wo Fat of course. The real Wo Fat, not the Chairman of Kitchen Stadium's nephew.

Vashon family would fit the "family-friendly" network dictate.
by kabong
McGarrett took down three generations.
For the current series, of course, the youngest Vashon would have to be McGarrett's love interest.

Time to educate you numbskulls. Hookman was played by Jay J. Armes, no pun intended.
by Grammaton Cleric Binks
The man is a double amputee who is missing both hands. As a kid I only recall seeing a few episodes as it was on late, but somehow I managed to watch this one. It is badass. Armes is a real life private detective who is missing both hands from a childhood accident. I don't know how many sets he has, but one has a built in pistol so you literally can't disarm him. He even had his own action figure. With all due respect I don't think Dr. Weller can improve on this episode.

I had a party!
