Picture of a piece of something from the set of STAR WARS EPISODE TWO'
Father Geek here with a report of something being moved around by folks on the Fox Lot in Australia. All of the AICN spies are preparing for a full scale invasion of the FOX LOT where you will see all! Peter Parker SPIDEY cameras have been placed in the upper rafters of every studio prepared to offer realtime video of the film being shot. Of course, they could be lying to us, but if I were George, I'd get people up in the rafters to check!
Harry,
On a recent excusion to Fox Studios Australia while setting up the underground railroad to smuggle you onto the lot, I managed to get a photo of some type of speeder or ship, under construction on the backlot. I also stumbled
across a massive set, which looked like the side of a star destroyer.
Anyway, staff on the backlot told me that cast and crew arrive within a
month and a lot of sets have already been completed and everything awaits your arrival.(including the Jedi
council chamber).
Its not a great pic I know, but still....
.....See ya.

Ugh where's the pic? It's not loaidng.
-
Okay I see it now.Interesting...
-
An early model, maybe?
-
Ah me - cheap sarcasm... Still, who knows, eh? As long as George doesn't direct and has someone to re-do the script, keeps Jar Jar down and, and... Well. Still, that funny red droid thing in the photo looks cool, as do the spaceships on the side of the street. Hey, apparently I know someone who knows someone who is doing prosthetics for this flick - maybe. And who told me 'Not a chance in Hades, bud!'. So, of course, I will keep you posted.
-
and it makes up for the Elston Gunn/Anakin comments! Can't wait for the Real Time video if thats true.
-
I think the ship looks pretty good, although basic. Not much variety that you can come up with, when most ship designs have already been thought out. But we all know that it is THIS ship that will determine whether this movie will be good or not! (hehehe)
-
My faith in the STAR WARS franchise has been restored by that picture. *** See the EPISODE II that George Lucas doesn't want you to see at http://www.superosity.com/d/20000228.html ***
-
I hope they make a toy for that. I hope Episode II is good. My heart is pounding already.
-
Has anyone considered the possibility that it might be a floor?
-
A standard looking nose wheel and door. Just like your everyday fighter jet.
Whooshhh. Lets hope Jar-Jar is a victim of Engine Ingestion. -
I think it's the nose piece to a Sith Infiltrator, like the one Darth Maul piloted.
-
only not as greasy.
-
Looks interesting. This little bit of news is alot better than the whole Battlefield Earth movie I saw the other day. What is it though? maybe it is floor a part of a ship who knows? cool to look at though.
-
Lucas had his ILM goons actually breed him a huge Dorito to feed to his mutant neck! Too bad he can't C.G. out that overgrown thyriod he calls a chin!
-
What little red droid thing? That looks more like a FORK LIFT to me, bud. Spaceships on the side? If they look like cars, then yeah, those are spaceships allright. Seriously, did you look at a different pic than I did, or are your eyes really that bad?
-
T-minus ? til this talkback turns into one big "Phantom Menace sucked shit" fest.

WE COULDN'T TAKE THE PRESSURE!
The Undead have spoken... -
"IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN NOW, I WILL BECOME MORE VAGUE THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE"!!!
-
They'll never call it 'The Phantom Menace'.
-
I really hope that Yoda gets to kick some ass in this film! I also hope Mcgreger gets a better role than the stay behind and fix the ship role he had in Ep1!
-
C'mon guys... Take it easy.. I mean... I'm dying to see see Ep2 like anybody else.. but what to get excited about that pic of the spaceship... I mean it's star wars... of course there are spaceships... Big deal! Get a grip! Let's just wait and see....
Let's just hope it's going to be better than ep1 -
. . . my, what an unpleasant little man. Zero, I've been visiting this site for quite a while now (under a different name). In the past, your posts, while generally negative, and, shall we say, sexually explicit, were often pretty funny and never degenrating into this appalling racist abuse, and screaming hatred of all things Knowles. Why do you feel the need to do this? What has changed? The only explanations I can think of is a) someone else is masquerading as you using a similar user ID or b) You've gone crazy. BTW, this post is not a flame. I am just genuinely puzzled by your behaviour. The only reason I am not posting as my usual ID is due to the fact that I don't want my usual inbox filled with the hate splurgings and death threats of this new neo-nazi crowd you may or may not have fallen in with.
-
Anyone with experience in photoshop can enhance this photo like I did and discover this is only a piece of scenery being moved face down. That piece sticking up is not the fin of a space ship, but rather a flap to hold the scenery upright. Sorry, this pic doesn't show us anything.
-
Man, must have clicked the wrong link, I was looking for the AICN talkback, not the Teen Nazi Puketalk page... oh, my mistake.
What's the betting that some gimp at the studio thought "Hey, let's take that triangular off-cut of plywood around the lot with a forklift, and see how many websites we get on?" Is this the most extreme set of responses to such a tiny item of alleged news? I think so...
Nice. -
anyone else notice that this so called "revelation" is an almost exact copy of vader's executor star destroyer?
-
If one looks closely you can clearly see a VW parked along the road with a license plate that says 28IF. This refers to the fact that Paul would have been 28 if he had lived. Alos he is said have been driving a VW when he was killed. Also if one, once again, looks closely, you can see he is walking out of step with the other Beatles. Given these details, closer scrutiny is warrented. Zubalove, OUT.

Great, finally something in star wars that isn't cgi.

That could be fucking anything. Here's a thought, DON'T PUT UP EVERY LITTLE "SCOOP"(IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT TO CALL IT) THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH STAR WARS. I realise that might sound like heresy or something on this site but next time you get something worthless, put something worthwhile up instead. You must get dozens of good scoops every day but i bet some of them are never viewed by us because the space has been filled by yet another miniscule star wars notice.
-
If a picture like this can generate this much talkback, watch out! SW2 hype is gonna back Episode One hype look like a yawn fest.

Sometimes the shear quality of the insider scoops on this site blows me away! For all we can tell from this George might be having a new coffee table delivered. However, the cameras in the roof thing sound fun. Maybe we can start to get some pictures which can not be confused with DIY furniture soon!!! (only joking - keep up the good work)
-
I am amused by this 'diversion.' However, we must focus our attetion elsewhere. Began preparing your posts for invasion.

last year i went to see the Matrix in hopes of seeing the Phantom Menace preview. A year later, I'm really looking forward to Matrix II.
-
Some kind of space ship/wing type thing is being used in a Star Wars film? No, it's just a little too obvious for me.......
-
"You came in that thing? . . ."
Hey Star Wars haters: the rest of us don't care about you. We have something that makes us happy and you don't. Live with it. -
If so many of you hate The Phantom Menace and George Lucas so much, why do you spend so much time whining about it? If Lucas is such a hack, why do you bother obsessing about his every move? You're like the geeky kid in the 8th grade who swears he's not in love with the cheerleader but keeps a shrine to her beauty in the back of their closet. It's just a movie, not the meaning of the universe. Take Shatner's advice and fer chrissake get a life, already!

As you all know.. I (dash101) have been reviewing and helping Harry out where I can with information for the past year or so. For thoughs of you who don't know me, well I guess you do know right? ** Anyways, Harry does not censor these messages. His piss ant brother might, but Harry doesn't. He is not a 'nigger' or anything else. This is his site and that type of language will be edited out. Why? Not because he is pulling a big brother, but because he can!!
-
I dont know if making a sequel to Matrix is a good idea. Why spoil a good movie? The first one was great. Tpm on the other hand was a failure so Im looking forward to the next one, in hopes of it being better(which wont be a big accomplishment), although Lucas can screw up any movie. The guy who Lucas brought in to help with the script must be having a hard time. Hes probably secretly laughing at Lucas. Get David Fincher for the next prequel!
-
That looks a lot like one of those Interceptor thingies they had..or a concorde transformer. Basically it's the Oldsmobuick of starships. I'll hold my enthusiasm until I see something inventive.
-
An indistinguishable photograph of something that *could* be a piece of something that *might* be appearing in the next Star Wars movie... and they all come running. Sad.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph... are we seriously getting so fevered over this movie already? I said this once, several months before Episode I came out, and I'll say it again now -- can we all just grow up and RELAX a little... like Christmas, if you're patient, the movie will come.
I wish Lucas would hurry up and get these next two movies in the can just so we can get past all this mind-numbing hype and move on to serious news about serious movies. -
In the original trilogy the rebellion used 4 different types of fighters: the A-wing, B-wing, X-wing, and Y-wing. The A-wing was small, flat, triangular, and one of the oldest types of that group.
-
Wasn't that the triangular UFO Mulder saw back in season one?
-
At least that is what it looks like to me.
-
Man, that is one nice chunk of plywood. Better than the ones I see at Home Depot. Makes me all a-tingle for Episode II: The Set Construction.
I'm anxiously looking forward to more scoops like this with cool, can't-get-em-anywhere-else pictures of nails, two-by-fours, hammers and maybe some power tools! -
I'm surprised that no ones thought of this, but isn't Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes" shooting at the same studio at the same time as "Episode 2".
If so this spaceship may not be from "Star Wars" at all and may be the Starship that the humans occupy when they crash land on the "Alien World" in "Apes".
Maybe...

I have lost all interest in Star Wars. Sure, I was a fan of the originals, but Lucas' most recent edition to the saga sucked more than a White House Intern. I'm sorry, but Mr. Lucas is about the least gifted filmmaker to ever walk this Earth. There is absolutely no cinematic skill to the Star Wars films. The acting is cardboard, the cinematography is boring and the special effects don't hold up on video. So, why is everyone creaming their pants like they've opened up a ReadiWhip factory in their shorts? Go out and get some lives - there are better films to be excited about. Lucas had better shape up and let someone with more talent take the directing reins. And about that picture ... how is that making anyone excited? It could be the ILM picnic table from IKEA for all I care ...

I'll just chime in and say I too think it looks like a Star Destroyer.

Harry has the right to delete whatever he wants, because he owns the site -- lock, stock and barrel. Now, I think that some of the deletions that have been going on are somewhat erroneous, but if you don't like it, then get the hell out of here! If we all leave out of disgust, the site will sink into the internet nether-regions, never to be heard from again. If you really hate Harry, it's better to make your stand by just going away (after some very amusing vitrol-filled posts first, heheheh). Hell, start an ANTI-AICN site. AICN TalkBack is KNOWN on other boards as being a bunch of angry, whiner-loser fanboys. I repeatedly participate in the Talkbacks, making me one of you, but at the same time, I can't say that label isn't without merit. Harry's "deletion" attempts may very well be an attempt to clean up that reputation -- and CAN YOU BLAME HIM! On the other hand, I have to say that the notoriety this site has gained does not come without its price, and that Harry needs a thicker skin. Just my $0.02. I will continue to be amused by the goings-on here until the day I am banned.
-
That thing looks just like the escape pod thingy from the Royal Starship toy the released last year. Oh yeah, and to all of you negative idiots, how ya doin? You seem to have staved off the urge to kill yourselves for one more talkback. Good for you. :)
-
Zathras hopes that's not a private office, or the dumbass who occupies it will be getting fired. It could be a Star Destroyer, since they've got to come in sometime. Does this mean they still actually build.....*GASP*.. models?
-
Actually, I believe the ships in TPM were 99% models with CGI overlayed.
-
Zathras just looked at the larger pic, and the ship has nose gear extended (with a red wheel?). It also looks like a typical "lifting body" style design, but appears as though the right wing is not yet completed. The ship is not symmetrical. That's probably why all those two-by-fours are propping it up. It needs another wing and two rear wheels to hold it up. Does it seem like Lucas's spaceships are getting more conventional looking? Queen Amidala's royal ship looked like a silver-plated Blackbird spy plane.
-
GIANT PAPER AIRPLANE!!!
wait a minute... who said it looked like an "EARLIER MODEL?"
its a prequel!!! -
So when is George Lucas going to get around to making episode two of American Graffiti? *ducking*
-
By enhancing the photo I have come up to several conclusions.
1 - The material is plywood or other similar material.
2 - The shape IS symmetrical even though others don't think so.
3 - If you were to look at the shape head-on, it would look like this ( -+- )
4 - Therefore, this would be a classic example of a support structure,, but for what...
In conclusion, using the angles, highth, width and production news I will ascertain that this is in fact the internal support structure for a class of Star Destroyer.
But what class of SD?
It is definetly not the Executor because it was completed and presented to our Lord, Darth Vader after the battle of Yavin. It isn't an Imperial Class because they were known to be new ships during the time of ANH. But relying on SW history, I will say that this is definetly a Victory Class Star Destroyer.
For all the laymen, a Victory Class Star Destroyer has the same shape of an Imperial Class SD but..
1 - it has small fins on either side that, when deployed, look like >-+-< to help assist it during atmospheric entry! Yes I said atmospheric entry
2 - it is about half the volume of an Imperial Class SD.
3 - if you were to scale a Victory class up to an Imperial Class, you wouldn't know the difference except for two cutouts, one on either side, that hold the fins.

I'm a Star Wars fan, but I'm not THAT great with tech stuff. Is there any indication that Palpatine actually BUILT his own fleet (the shipyards?), or did he revamp another one (Mandalorians)?
-
Look at the yellow escape pod in this picture of the Queen's Royal Starship Toy. http://dave.itsgames.com/qrs.jpg What do you all think?
-
Why didn't you get a closer look. All what you have done is left everyones brain totally fucked! Now we have to wait until 2002 to find out what the fuck it is!
-
Have I wasted my valuable time to look at piece of frikkin PLYWOOD? What the fuck is this supposed to mean? Am I meant to be excited? Please, gimme a call when you have a real scoop. As for all this racist stuff, Harry can delete whatever he finds offensive from HIS SITE, remember?
-
The real news is, that after close digital enhancement of that picture, upon examination you can see Harrison "I used to be a good actor before started playing frumpy middle aged men roles" Ford helping to carry the piece of plywood onto the set.
What the piece of wood is being used for is anyones guess, my guess is construction.
-
looks to me like it could be a small-scale model of an early edition star destroyer. possibly the cruiser for Darth Sidious and the Sith.

I haven't posted in a while. Other than the Hayden Christian news, there hasn't really been any stories that I have deemed post-worthy and I've been busy at work, but after reading superninja's post above concerning Harry's right to ban, I had to put in my two cents. Having been deleted and banned from this site a few times before, I know how frustrating it is to see your post disappear from the boards, but I also understand that this is Harry's house and he makes the rules. The racial comments above and in Easton Gunn's Talkback were uncalled for, but they were probably entered just to get a rise out of the talkbacks. SSZero and Chainsaw Hooker are probably getting a good laugh and twirling their moustaches at us all for going on about it. Those posts were ignorant. Period. I support Harry for deleting racial or hateful comments. There have been times when Harry's red-headed temper (something I know too much about, being a red-head myself) has gotten the better of him and he has deleted posts that weren't offensive or bad, they just plain pissed him off. And that's okay. As long as we reside in this AICN-iverse that Harry created, we live by his rules. Deal with it. I totally agree with superninja when he said that this site is way too negative about everything. Try liking something people. It won't hurt you. Everything doesn't "suck". I think that the site started going negative after TPM was released. Everyone who thought this movie was going to be the second coming got a heavy dose of reality and the fanboys couldn't deal with it. They are only movies, people. Enjoy them for what they are. Some films are better than others, but to post "this is gonna suck" after every story on the site is ignorant.
-
If you look real hard you can see Darth Maul's head in the tree...Lets get serious here its just a freakin board...probably going to be used for the bathrooms. Get me a picture with something more on it...Stop wasting Film!!!
-
Will everyone stop speculating about this damn picture !! It could be anything for god's sake.
Until we get something we can properly make out there's no point in making stupid assumptions. -
but watching you people have at one another is real entertainment. Now for some movie-type news a little more concrete. I got a (mass-mailed) letter from David Gerrold yesterday. For those who don't know, he's most famous for writing "The Trouble With Tribbles", but his best work (IMHO)is The War Against the Chtorr series, a fascinating set of books. Anyway, he's consulting with folks on how to put the books on screen. If you've read them, you know why it would be difficult. If you haven't, you're missing out. He didn't mention names or dates, but coming from the lips of the author, it's more concrete than a picture of something (could be a piece of a set, could be a piece of flooring, could be scrap wood) taken somewhere (possibly a movie lot, how can I tell?). If The War Against The Chtorr takes ten years to put to film, it'll be ten years well spent. Considering how long the books are taking, it's more likely to be twenty years well spent.

Oh man, my new favorite guilty pleasure is reading star wars talkbacks. I love the guy who writes a two page rant dropping n-bombs. Dude there is no shame in paying for sex, it will make you feel so much better. My favorite thing in message boards is when guys come in spewing garbage nobody cares about insulting everyone (including the people who run the board) then both complain and BRAG about getting banned. Some triangular piece of wood from 200 feet away results in rants and people dropping n-bombs. I LOVE IT!!!!!

HOW COULD THEY BE IN PURPLE IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!! -

by superninja
I love Star Wars. Period. I don't love TPM -- don't hate it either -- but I think there were major problems with it. I don't automatically revere George Lucas because he gave us Star Wars. To me, there is nothing wrong with any of those opinions. There's also nothing wrong with anyone telling me why they think I'm wrong and TPM was the greatest movie ever. But people around here seem to get off on belittling each other, which is just plain wrong. It seems that everyone here wants you to be either black or white in regards to your stance on TPM. It is a movie, and for someone who is a moviegoer, not just a Star Wars fan, I don't see what's wrong with being critical of it AS A FILM.

No really, for those of you who have done their history, while making TESB, the Star Destroyer models RARELY went past 8 feet in length. The only exception was Vaders Destroyer and one Star Destroyer
This thing is too big to be a model of anything, it has to be at least 15-20 feet. What happened, the skill of modelmaking is gone and now they can only build these huge fucking things? C'mon, if we are to believe that this is a part of any thing SW, it is probably part of a set, if even that.
Think about it, why would ANY movie as secretive as this be moving "TOP SECRET" stuff like this in public, during the day .
I mean crap, for EP I folks were killing themselves to get smuggled photos and copies of stuff out of Lucasfilm and now shit is being paraded in the street? If it was in the middle of nowhere and this person had to use a telescopic lens and such, MAYBE, they might have a chance at being believable, but no way, this is too easy.
If we are going to debate over anything, at very least talk about those pre production sketches over at www.starwars.com in the episode 2 area and not over this bullshit. -
Maybe it's just the incredible volume of posts by superninja, maybe it's because the racist comments were already pulled when I got here, or maybe it's just the delicous whiskey haze over my brain; but this talkback seems surprisingly free of rants. All of you give yourselves a pat on the back for retaining some sense. And also,(I'll try to make this quick so as not to be too redundant) having had several of my own posts deleted from the talkbacks, it's his site so it's his right.

The original Star Wars was great, right? Episode IV, A New Hope? Lucas directed that!! i have a little faith that he can direct ep. ii and make it good....but that faith is very little, so i say you get wolfgang peterson, who would kick ass (c'mon...he's done everything from THE Neverending Story to Das Boot)....and I am proud to be an occasional member of the AICN talkback pissed-off geeks.

Adrian here from England.
As an avid Star Wars supporter i am as keen as the next person to catch a glimpse of Episode 2. But come on whatever the long flat prop on a fork lift truck is, isn't that exciting.
Surely the annoucement of Hayden Christensen and the accompanying artwork on the official Star Wars site is more interesting?
I will allow my excitement to get the better of me when pictures of production and design are released, mainly of Boba Fett.
I am 27 so remember as a young boy being taken to see the original films upon there release. That was excitement! -
For a long while I have watched all of you. I have witnessed the wasted potential of all of you pointlessly attacking one another over trivial matters, like enraged predators killing one another, because there is no prey. I admire your energy. However, you all lack focus. I have a plan to unify the great potential that would otherwise go to waste. This Friday, May 19th, marks one year elapsed since the release of that bile-inducing film. Instead of dwelling on changing an irreversible past, we will create a threat formidable enough to change the future. I want each of you to help create a human virus in this otherwise tranquil cyberspace. I want you to put up posts expressing your disdain and hatred where it is of no relevance. I want you to invade chat rooms, drawing people away from their pathetic banter. You will e-mail those who can be allies and over the course of this day, we will make the world aware of our displeasure. This will accomplish two things. It will increase awareness of our faction and will simply wreak havoc. You are all more than capable of letting your hatred flow through you...why not use it constructively? As for those insipid souls who wish to remain loyal to a cause that no longer has any meaning, they are to be mercilessly flamed. All of them. Do not put yourself in jeopardy by ill-advised overaggressiveness. Our strength shall be in ever-multiplying numbers. My order was destroyed many years ago by an unwillingness to cooperate. I do not wish to see this again. The door is open to invade the rest of this realm and beyond. NOW, TURN THAT ANGER OUTWARD AS A COLLECTIVE, AND MAKE YOURSELVES KNOWN. ANY OF YOU SO INCLINED MAY MAKE YOURSELVES SPECIFICALLY KNOWN TO ME. PREPARE, AWAIT, THEN ACT. THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING. WHEN SUCCESSFUL, THIS SITE AND BEYOND WILL BE ALL TOO AWARE. DO NOT DISAPPOINT. I will continue to watch the proceedings with great interest.

Erm, like that was my attempt at humour. Okay, it wasn't much chop, but, like, you know I thought that 'mistaking' the forklift for a red droid and the cars for spaceships was a little droll. And that everyone would have seen it for what it was. Of course I could have mentioned the clearly naked stormtrooper in the bottom left hand corner. Quite an unusual helmet.
-
Look at that thing! It's pathetic. Lucas is just ruining the whole Star Wars thing with such a poorly done... thing! This movie is going to suck worse that the outtakes from Battlefield Earth!
Sorry, the board seemed a bit light on people ripping the next movie, so I thought I'd fill in. -
This is great news! Forget about Chewie or Boba Fett or a young Han Solo! The Big Fucking Yellow Triangle (who was my favorite character in Episode One) is returning! Superninja - I'm not positive, but here's some thoughts of mine
by xenomorpheus
The Emperor dosen't seem to be a "hands-on" type of ruler, he prefers others to do his dirty work. I am sure he used the Naboo invasion as an example to start the massive build-up of ships to stop any other "agressors" that would attempt any type of action like that. He is going to be using the massive resources of the galaxy to serve under his 'leadership' and and will make sure that anyone who gets smart to what he is doing, a.k.a. rebellion, get's the full brunt of his force as an example to others. Hell, we almost need another thread to discuss the possible course of actions for the Emperor, but a manual of his actions is already written, it's called Sun-Tzu: The Art of War. An ancient Chinese script, it lays out the raw tatctice of war and power that are still viable today.
-
IMHO, I believe he uses the Kuat yards utilized by the Mandalorians during the first Clone War...
-
Who cares what is going to happen in EP2...come on, there are bigger things coming up...3 times LOTR! (think about it..wow!)
-
I know I was there. The crew got bored and made this thing. They went to the top of this building and pushed it off the side to let it loose. It was pretty wild to see it fly around in circles, till it accidently crushed and killed an innocent bystander. ooops.
Any news on CNN about this? -
I wonder if Lord of the rings will be any good... I liked the books and Bakshis movie though. But for now, Im waiting for Ep.2. With or without the piece of plywood in the picture.
I saw a pic of the new Anakin, and I have to admit he has the looks for the role. I also heard something about Boba Fett wearing different armor in Ep.2.
I agree with the Planet of the apes theory. The piece of wood looks like the craft from the old movies. Maybe Lucas can use it as an escape pod when Ep.2 flops? Naah, it will most likely be better than TPM.

I see that all of you are taking blind guesses at something completely irrelevant. This is most unfortunate. I suspect you will feel differently by Friday, if you have any resolve whatsoever.

Looks like the side of a Star Destroyer......... My Arse. It looks like a trianglar piece of wood.........on closer inspection however...... nope, its a piece of wood. Is this what we are gonna have now for the next 2 yrs???!!!! Geek-dom is just simply God's way of making sure the socially crippled don't get to reproduce and this excitement over what IS a piece of wood, (and which is no doubt causeing some geekboys to get a wood) simply proves it. To quote Robin Williams, some of these guys are in the most dire need of a blow-job of any men in history!!!!!!!!!

Hasn't Lucas been shooting his mouth off about the wonders of computers and film-making, and how he was gonna be able to make all these films without traditional Hollywood sets and props??? Is this real or is it computer generated teamsters hauling a computer generated plywood fighter?!?!?!?!? Come to think of it, I've never been to Australia....I bet it's just a computer generated country.

BIG DEAL. Relax. I remember seeing the pics of the gungan sub snuck out of Leavesden, and it didn't look like anything. When the movie comes out you won't care what that thing is. It's probably the caterer's buffet table, anyway. Who cares. If you ask me, it looks like the initial wooden radar testing prop for Skunkwork's "Hypersonic Unmanned Vehicle" project. If you send that picture to a UFO site, they'll probably believe it. It may not even be in the movie. It's the worlds largest paper airplane right now. It means nothing.

O.K.!! "The Phantom Menace" maybe fell short of 16 years of anticipation, BUT IT DIDN'T SUCK THAT MUCH!!. Yes it had some eye rolling moments, but so did the original 3 films! IT'S "SCI-FANTASY" (t go around for A YEAR BITCHING ABOUT IT.... sorry, have a nice day

It is NOT THE ESCAPE POD from the Royal Starship....Let it go!
by coruscant
This picture is NOT the escape pod. The ship actually has TWO escape pods on the BOTTOM of the ship. Not some stupid fucking yellow butt dart like the toy depicts. Don't rely on toys for anything. Go here and look at a picture of the escape pods. I made the model in the image and I know EXACTLY what that ship looks like.

FIRST THINGS FIRST, THE PHOTO OF THE PROP IS A SINGLE WING OF AN X-WING OR POSSIBLY A Z95 HEADHUNTER.
SECONDLY I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY TO ALL THE STAR WARS HATERS AND IN PARTICULARY THE TPM HATERS THAT WHEN I WENT TO SEE TPM I LOVED IT AND FELT THAT IT DOES IT'S JOB IN THE STAR WARS SAGA BY INTRODUCING THE CHARACTERS AND SETTING UP THE FORTHCOMING EVENTS IN EP2 & EP3. ALSO I NOTICED WHEN I WENT TO SEE IT THAT ALL THE YOUNGER MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE(THE INTIAL TARGET AUDIENCE) WERE LAPPING IT UP JUST HAS I HAD WHEN I FIRST WENT TO SEE THE ORIGINAL AND LETS FACE IT, IF YOU WERE ALL THAT AGE AGAIN (I THINK THAT SOME OF YOU ALREADY ARE) YOU WOULD BE THINKING IT WAS THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD. LASTLY I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THE MATRIX WAS AN EXCELLENT FILM BUT I DON'T THINK IT'LL BE TALKED ABOUT IN 23 YEARS TIME FROM NOW. SADLY I FEEL THE MATRIX IS GOING TO GO DOWN THE SAME ROAD AS THE HIGHLANDER FILMS, THE FIRST ONE EXCELLENT, BUT THE SEQUELS,FROM WHAT I CAN MAKE OUT FROM THE GOSS WILL TOTALLY RUIN IT (AND I WOULDN'T MIND BETTING THAT A NAFF TV SPIN-OFF SERIES WILL PROBABLY FOLLOW AND IGNORE THE PLOT OF THE FIRST FILM ALTOGETHER). -
sorry BasherkillRrite didn't read your points before sending mine. Makes me look stupid now but I agree with everything you said.

I have read over all of y'alls posts and i think that it is a wing off of something. that would explane its odd triangular shape and apparent lack of symmetry. i would guess that it is a wing off of a craft that will play a major role in the new film. it's probably part of a set like the one of the Falcon they used in episode 4. just my oppinion.

isnt g.lucas now in the habit of using CG instead of models these days?
and if he still uses models, why would he use one sooo big as seen in the pic?
i personally think this pic is a model destined for the public access area of fox studios here in sydney. G.Lucas would not cart something like this around the back lane of fox where people can see it from certain areas!

Yeah,"TPM" was great!!!Now about that ship... Hm. I know that designs is suppose to matter less when an empire is starting to form in this saga, but still. The tie-fighters and X-wings that are from much later episodes do actually look kind of stylish. Now this thing is almost like a mix of "Apollo 13" and a frisbee. I'm not saying that I don't like the design or that it's not gonna' work, but, it's just not totally "StarWar"ish. Are you sure that that's gonna' be used in Ep II, Harry? Could it be that it's for something completely different? Anyway, thanks for keeping us all updated behind the studio walls.

1)The fighter that OB1 flies or 2)And early Star Destroyer judging from some of the preproduction sketches. Lets check back in a year :)
