AMC (And Netflix)
Close To Ordering Third
Season Of THE KILLING??
“The Killing,” the serialized homicide series supposedly cancelled by AMC, could return with new episodes after all, according to Deadline Hollywood.
The plan, apparently, is for AMC to split the cost of the low-rated series with Netflix.
Without AMC's help, Netflix is producing a fourth season of "Arrested Development."
A Deadline source indicates AMC will air the new season prior to streaming on Netflix.

But I guess masochists need something to watch.
-
And trust me, The Killing filled that demographic in spades.
-
And I love how netflix is trying to help viewers see shows they like on the air with new episodes that could be a really great or terrible terrible thing

Though it was sort of a misstep Linden and Holder were awesome to watch and I am glad to hear this
by MJDeViant
The political guy wasn't bad either. Everything else was just too slow and too mnay dead ends. I like leading us to the wrong guy but it felt like either too many suspects or just too much story delving on each suspect. I think I'd almost rather have a season of like 12 episodes where it is 2 stories given 8 episodes and the last 4 come up because the first two stories were actual related and it ties them together. That would be interesting to me. I'm cool with each episode being a day but sometimes it didn't feel like that because it went so slow or spent too much time on too many characters.
-
I really enjoyed the lead characters, but the show was something of a 1-trick pony - Rosie Larson's murder. Not sure it can be engaging anymore.

Second season was better constructed - got rid of weekly red herrings

But most of the time I think I am the only one. I thought the chance of new episodes was about 0%. I really liked the characters of Linden and Holder so if I can see them again I would like that a lot. Though it seemed like Linden's story as a cop had sort of come to a close at the end of the season. As long as they reveal the killer in the same season I will be a happy camper.

This show sucked a big pile of shit.

great show, both seasons...when do you get to see that much cigarette smoking on tv?...
by ponyboy
merieille enos as linden was superb, underrated acting. & holder was just a cool, flawed partner...& smoked his ass off!...you don't ever see that in movies. as a canadian, the seattle setting was very atmospheric, really made me feel glum, young girl murdered, rain, lower-middle class characters. the show did its job for me...& that ending of the faint death wails from the trunk as it submerges, was fucking chilling tv, in my opinion. maybe i'ma sucker for well written, acted & directed cop shows...."cop shows" sounds so cheap...maybe, police procedurals?
-
Glad to hear this might work again.
-
And best version of The Killing, 'Forbrydelsen' has it's 3rd season next week. Think I'll stick with that thanks.
-
...is for Linden and Holder track a serial killer. Make the show go really dark. No more of this conspiracy theory "this goes all the way to the top" bullshit. Could even make the season a race-against-the-clock storyline. That would benefit the show and its every episode covers a day format. The Killing has great potential with the fantastic two leads it just needs to stop straying into melodramatic crap.
-
Just kidding. And fuck it, our EP now works on Homeland. The two leads in the Killing were good; pity the rest of it wasn't of the same caliber. And what will happen if they only greenlight one season while Sud streeeetches the mystery out to two without telling anyone, including her network?
-
Achin will take it over and then sell it off to the studios.
-
They really could've just done one murder per season or like the other person suggested track a serial killer. That would make more sense than red herring-ville.

When the failed to find the killer at the end of season 1
by LazyDolphin
I was done. I will give this show props, however, for having both the most-frequent and longest fits of crying I've ever seen on any tv show, ever.

GREAT show. People who thought it was boring or dealt with too many characters have the attention span of a 4 year old.
by Emperor_was_a_jerk
It was like a TV series for people who like to read. A visual novel. Thorough, full of atmosphere and had more to it than just who the killer was.

I FINALLY finished Season 2 last week. And I say, YES! Bring on a S3!

The search for Holder who was beaten and left for dead, a fantastic episode.

Season 2 had a great ending though. Its hard to see what a S3 would do.
by D.Vader
How would or how could they expand these characters and put them through the ringer again? Season 2 ended so well, its hard for to guess where they'd go next with them. The crime doesn't matter really.
-
Paper-thin, inauthentic characters and senseless convolutions of red herrings and motives. The much-vaunted pilot was just an English translation of the Danish pilot, and it got shittier from there. Enos and Kinnemen have got to be praying for it to end so they can get out their contracts.
-
It wasn't knee-high to any of the excellent TV dramas we've had over the last fifteen years. Slow, make-it-up-as-you-go storytelling with flat dialogue, thin characters and no internal logic is not smart, or particularly adult. In it's grab bag of influences and lack of vision, it's a dumb person trying to imitate the aesthetics of what they understand to have been good work, without understanding the core principles that make good work. Strong, complex characters and effective plotting. These were not complex characters. Everybody had exactly one character trait, and they banged the drum of it constantly.
-
The Killing is good TV - bring it back
-
. . . so happy to be able to whine and type shit like Red Herrings and MacGuffins on the internet. You will all watch every episode of this show til it really ends.

Just like every show talked about on here, it was either THE BEST or AWFUL
by Epsilon
It's always all or nothing with you people, isn't it? Can't a show ever just be so-so? Anyway, I had lofty hopes for The Killing after the first couple of episodes, but it never lived up to them. Too many red herrings in S1 and too much emo, Linden is a terrible mom, in S2. That said, I did enjoy parts of the show, especially the Linden-Holder dynamic. It's not the greatest television, but it's still better than 98% of what's on network TV. Since the list of shows I watch is basically limited to Breakng Bad, Dexter, Homeland, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, I'd have time to tune in to season 3 of The Killing.
-
I feel it's jumping the shark like Gilligan's Island Season 3: Still on the Island and Dexter Season 3: Still Not Caught
-
Is Netflix really doomed? Who is Achin?
-
You obviously spent no time with this series. Go fuck yourself
-
*smacks 'em all across the gonads* Oh shut - THE FUCK - up!!

Get it right you little shit.

Wuh-waaaaaahhh! Gimme back my shitty Terminator fan fiction. Waaaaahh!!

The original by franzbonaparta And best version of The Killing, 'Forbrydelsen' has it's 3rd season next week. Think I'll stick with that thanks. -------------- You are spot on! I did not watch the second season of The Killing but it led me to the original 'Forbrydelsen" Three seasons in and season 4 preordered. Everything one liked about the remake without the filler and endless I got the killer red herrings. Flawless TV
-
Forgot the original did not break up the first season into two seasons.
-
One the one hand, I really liked Enos and Kinnaman. The acting in general was pretty good, and I actually liked the solution to the central mystery. On the other hand, the plot was an endless slog of badly paced red herrings and the 'character development' was ridiculously repetitive. I mean, two seasons of endless iterations of the same 'Linden gets obsessive over cases,' 'Linden is a terrible mother,' 'Mitch is sad,' 'Richmond loved his wife,' 'Stan wants to beat someone up' scenes do we need? We got the point the first time, now go somewhere with it already.
-
Exactly. Two good actors and a shit-ton of horrible writing do not a good show make. The fucking woman who ran 'Cold Case' is behind this, and people like Chad Bebay think it's somehow smart. If you like senseless plotting, one-note characters, a constant regurgitation of red herrings and storytelling that's the definition of treading water, then you probably think 'The Killing' is worth a damn.
-
That would be a great! SCC is and was a better show than The bori...I mean The Killing could hope to be. Hell Rubicon was better than The bori...oops I mean The Killing. Netflix would have a better turnout for SCC than bor..sorry the killing.

I enjoyed the show but I really did not have a problem with it ending.
by Demosthenes2
A new mystery wouldn't likely be as compelling -- see the diminished returns every season on Damages, which only kept my viewership because I loved the characters/actors so much.
-
will the original norwegean (or whatever) creators write it? I think the original stopped at the end of the original case too.
