John Ary here with a quick look at a few action figure lines making headlines this week. As always click on the photos for an embiggened pic and for more information follow the pre-order links...

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol from Medicom

Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to find this imported M:I4 Ghost Protocol figure of Tom Cruise from Medicom. This 12-inch version of Ethan Hunt depicts him just before climbing the Burj Khalifa. It features climbing gloves, a pistol and figure stand. He will arrive in February or you can pre-order him here.

The Expendables 2 from Diamond Select Toys

A trio of Expendables will soon get immortalized with 7-inch action figures courtesy of Diamond Select Toys. Here are new pics of Gunner, Hale Caesar and two versions of Barney in package. Each figure will feature multiple points of articulation and military gear. Look for this team to get a piece of the action in December or you can pre-order the set here

New Marvel Select Figures from Diamond Select Toys

Coming soon to a Disney Store near you, three new Marvel Select figures and a Spider-Man: Fearsome Foes box set. Savage Hulk will tower above the other figures, standing 9 inches tall and sporting 16 points of articulation. The Lizard shows off a new sculpt, with his scaly long snout and tongue. He will also have 16 points of articulation and a New York City display base. A 7-inch version of Flash Thompson as Venom rounds out the trio. He comes with two weapons and a wreckage-strewn display base. Finally there is the new four pack featuring Spidey, Lizard, Venom and Green Goblin. These figures will only be available at the Disney Store this holiday season, as well as at marvelstore.com and disneystore.com. Savage Hulk is available now at the Marvel Store site.

Dark Knight Rises Play Arts Kai from Square Enix

Whether you liked Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises or loathed its multiple plot holes and inconsistencies, there is simply no denying how nice these new action figures look from Square Enix. They stand a little under 10 inches tall and feature multiple points of articulation, alternate hands, a display stand, characters specific accessories and window box packaging. Look for these to hit the states in June or you can pre-order Bane and Batman.

Miami Connection from Drafthouse Films

I know that these action figures do not actually exist, but I dearly want them to. As a nice bit of PR, Drafthouse Films debuted these pics of fake G.I. Joe inspired action figures for the upcoming release of Miami Connection over on Nerdist. Terry Malloy and I got to check out the film at Fantastic Fest this year and were blown away by its schlocky 80's ninja action, catchy synth-pop soundtrack, and unbelievable moments of dramatic gravitas. You can see our review of the film here. Seriously, can we start a letter writing campaign or Kickstarter to get these into production? The movie releases on Blu-ray December 11.

And finally this week, kudos go out to animationGod1997 for this Bumblebee versus Ironhide stop-motion video. Well done.
