Rumors Galore!! Michael Bay May Actually Use Mark Wahlberg For TRANSFORMERS 4?!

The Kidd here...

Well, we already know Shia LaBeouf isn't returning for the continuation of the TRANSFORMERS franchise, nor are a ton of familiar robots in disguise (because only new characters sell new toys), but did anyone really expect Mark Wahlberg to be at the center of the human portion of TRANSFORMERS 4 until now?

Apparently rumors have been picking up fairly recently that Wahlberg would be the star of the sequel, based entirely on the fact that Wahlberg and director Michael Bay worked together on PAIN & GAIN, and, as you know, when an actor and a director work together once, they never want to work on other projects moving forward with anyone else ever again (Cue the sarcasm).

In fact, these rumors built up so greatly that Michael Bay took time out of his day of doing whatever the hell Michael Bay does to debunk the rumors and let people know that there's no Mark Wahlberg involvement in TRANSFORMERS 4.

Or is there?

According to Bay's latest post on his own blog, the rumors got him to thinking, and now maybe there is some room for Marky Mark in the middle of a war between Autobots and Decepticons.

"I squashed a rumor that was on the internet last week. It was about Mark Walhberg. Mark was rumored to be staring in Transformers 4. We are working on another movie together, not T4. I had such a great time working with Mark on Pain and Gain, and he gave such a great performance – well let’s say that very internet chatter gave me some ideas. We are at the inception of our story process right now on T4. Let’s say some ideas are gaining traction with me and my writer – so I’m here to say thanks internet chatter."

Do I think it's cool that the talk of fans may have gotten them something they wanted in a movie? Absolutely. Am I a little sad that we wasted such an opportunity to have one of our wishes granted on TRANSFORMERS 4? You bet.

I guess we'll have to see how things come together on this, but I'm not sure a Mark Wahlberg is needed for a TRANSFORMERS movie. After all, why can't we just have a TRANSFORMERS flick populated entirely by Transformers?

By the way, what do you think Michael Bay does on a daily basis? My money is on dreams of explosions.
