Tuesday Is SWEEPS DAY 13!!
Will It Prove Unlucky For
Barack Obama Or Mitt Romney?? Live DAILY SHOW: INDECISION 2012!! New ANARCHY, COVERT, UNDEREMPLOYED, More!!
Broadcast primetime and late night will be consumed by election coverage, which makes my job today super-easy.
Here in Las Vegas the time between my getting in a very short line and my exit from the polling trailer was less than four minutes. Early voting is kind of awesome.
I must say I am horrified by the long voting-line waits we’re seeing in Florida. I do hope voters remember these 7-hour waits when they return for the Florida gubernatorial election in 2014.
Donald Trump, who refuses to release the proof he says his agents in Hawaii uncovered more than a year ago, the proof demonstrating that President Obama was born outside the United States, insists Romney will win the day.
New York Times prognosticator Nate Silver, meanwhile, says there's now a 91% chance Obama will win the electoral college today.
That gives Mitt Romney a 9% chance of winning.
Conservative-leaning Real Clear Politics’ swing-state polls suggest an Obama victory as well. I’m constantly told by pundits on both sides that Governor Romney can’t win without both Virginia and Ohio:
REAL CLEAR POLITICS AGGREGATE AVERAGES OF ALL NOVEMBER 2012 POLLS:
Ohio - Obama +3.0
Florida – Romney +1.5
Virginia – Obama +0.3
Wisconsin – Obama +4.2
Colorado – Obama +1.5
Iowa – Obama +2.4
Obama would seem to be doing even better in these states if Real Clear Politics didn’t include Fox News fixture Chris Rasmussen's Rasmussen polls, which typically give Romney much better odds than the other polls:
RASMUSSEN POLLS ONLY
Ohio - Tie
Florida – Romney +2.0
Virginia – Romney +2.0
Wisconsin – Tie
Colorado – Romney +3.0
Iowa – Romney +1.0
Rasmussen is the only Real Clear pollster not showing Obama ahead in Ohio this month. If Romney wins Ohio, Rasmussen is going to look like a hero.
Polls also indicate the status quo will continue in Congress, with Republicans remaining in control of the House and Democrats retaining their majority in the Senate.
There is some new stuff on cable for those who don’t give a shit who nominates the next Supreme Court justice:

You've arrived at the exact same conclusions I have thru my readings and research the last few days. Romney can not win without Ohio and Virginia, unless he somehow magically takes Pennsylvania, or Karl Rove or is right and things are biased wayyyy against Romney (which I personally just don't believe is possible). It looks very unlikely for Mr Romney. I'd give Obama 8-1 odds on winning, most likely 393-235, but very possibly closer. Hopefully it's not 270-268 either way tho because then it just gets ugly, and I also hope whoever wins, they carry the popular vote as well. No one wants that unpleasantness. I look forward to another historic day of voting where Americans peacefully, if not contentiously, agree on a possible transfer of power without violence, coup, or suppression (at least not too much). God bless America, left and right. Lets see what happens!

by American Mythos
They went from a 7 point Romney lead last monday to a 1 point Romney lead in their final poll of likely voters. Obama also has a 52% approval rating according to Gallup. But what matters most is actual results. Dixvill Notch, New Hampshire, with a whopping ten voters, split 5-5 for each candidate when voting started at midnight. But Hart's Location, NH went 23 for Obama, 9 for Romney, 2 for Gary Johnson. It's gonna be a long, interesting day, but I predict results much in line with crow3711 (303 EC to 235 EC for an Obama victory). Romney takes Indiana (of course), North Carolina and Florida from the Obama column. And I'm kind of differing with Nate Silver tonight, because he's forecasting that Obama takes Florida, which a few polls have started to show, but I just don't see it.

For Romney to win at this point takes some kind of massive national Bradley effect
by AntonStark
this election is gonna make one hell of a movie some day. Obama was trouncing Romney until that first debate where he basically walked over to Romney and handed him the ball and the polls flipped to Romney. Then Obama works his way back to pass Romney days before the election. He was still a favorite to win because of his ground game (you don't beat Clinton out of no where without earning some benefit of the doubt about the potency of your ground game), but Romney had a clear opening to win. But Romney was never a good candidate, just good enough, and once Obama woke up from his coma he came back swinging at Romney and just beat fought all the way back to neck to neck with Romney. As dramatic a resurrection as Romney's after the first debate. And then Sandy slammed into the east coast and the country got to see the difference between a candidate making promises on the campaign stump and a President leaping into action in a national emergency. Obama took the late breaking momentum from Romney, because, well, actions speak louder than words. Although, Romney's words about FEMA had a pretty potent negative affect as well. I could live with either of these guys winning, because I am neither a woman nor a minority nor gay nor working class, so, Romney wasn't much of a threat to me. But for the sake of people OTHER THAN MYSELF, I am relieved and excited that Obama will probably win reelection and the nation will successfully pivot away from the 20th into the 21st century and join the rest of modernity in earnest.
-
You guys are going to be so disappointed tomorrow. Any poll showing Obama above or even with Romney is ridiculously oversampling Democrats. The CNN final poll yesterday had Obama and Romney tied up with a D+11 sample. In 2008, at the height of Obama's popularity, he beat McCain with a D+7 turnout. No way does he get close to that this time around. Today, the pundits are talking about Obama's path to 270 electoral votes and Romney's path to 300+. Tomorrow, one of three things happen: 1) Obama pulls out a squeaker to win, 2) Romney pulls out a squeaker to win, or 3) Romney wins in a landslide. I'm betting on a landslide.

... the under representation of Latinos. In 2010, when the Democratic vote was significantly depressed compared to 2008, Harry Reid pulled off a stunning upset of Sharon Angle in Nevada and Colorado's Michael Bennett pulled off an upset of his GOP senate opponent precisely because Latinos were underrepresentated in polling, and Romney is losing the Latino vote by 30 or 40 percent. This will make a huge difference in states like Colorado and Virginia. In 2004, Bush eeked to victory with 44 percent of the Latino vote. Romney will be lucky to crack 30 percent. Romney is going into Tuesday with a majority white coalition, and that won't help him win, especially when Obama doesn't perform nearly as poorly among whites as Romney does among minorities. Take Iowa for example. 95 percent white. Obama won that state in '08 by a comfortable margin, and stands poised to do so again today. What Obama has done is built a coalition of whites, blacks, Asians and Latinos. What Romney has done is alienate large swaths of those demographics. It wasn't his fault entirely, it was mostly the tea party movement's fault, but the results of that alienation are going to bear themselves out in the election results.

is if you want humanity extinct. Though, if you vote Obama, the same thing could happen due to retaliation from the retarded people that worship Romney. But I would argue that the retarded Republicans are in total control already and that the only reason Obama was president last time was so they can use him as a scapegoat for all their problems they caused. So just don't vote. Let the majority (retards) decide where the world goes. Let them destroy everyone and save the world with the hope for intelligent people that may be repressed or in waiting, to see the truth. Look at Fox News. I saw a grassroots type campaign to get Fox News off the air for misinforming people. I say keep them on the air, because it separates the retards from the intellects. How fucking convenient it is to see or know that someone watches Fox News and know that they are a sheepish retard that is easily manipulated. I say keep Fox News. It's like having my own glasses to see who's a fucking idiot and who isn't. I thank Fox News for revealing who not to trust.

In order to believe the polls that have Obama winning or CNN's poll from yesterday are true, you have to believe there will be record Democrat turnout and Republicans will turn out less than they did last time.
by Coughlins Laws
All the evidence since 2008 is that the Republicans are extremely more enthusiastic about voting than the Dems are. 2010 was the biggest Republican election in 80 years. Scott Walker's recall in Wisconsin showed a tied race, but he won by 7 points. The CNN poll from yesterday had the race tied with a +11 Democrat response!!! Does anyone on Planet Earth think that more Democrats will turn out than Republicans this year in those kinds of numbers? 2008 was a record year for Democrats, for good reason. People were sick of Bush, the wars, and Barack Obama was an historical figure. And with all the anger and Republican dominance in elections since 2008, somehow more Democrats will vote 4% more than 2008, their biggest year ever? It doesn't make sense. Romney is up in double digits with independents in most polls. If he wins independents big, when Obama won big with independents last time, Obama doesn't stand a chance. I really think Romney will win and it won't even be close. He will win with well over 50% of the vote. The enthusiasm is extremely high for Republicans and there are more Republicans today than there were in 2008 when McCain limped across the finish line. Don't just look at the headlines of these polls, guys. Look at how certain polls are predicting record turnout for Democrats and are assuming Romney will only get the same support McCain got in 2008. It's not going to happen... Prediction: Romney 52% - Obama 47% Electoral College: Romney 316 - Obama 222 Romney will win Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Iowa, New Hampshire, Virginia, and Florida...
-
You're seeing data that nobody is ... Ohio? PA? WI? IA? Really? ________ What polls/data are you working with? Obama 303.
-
Nov. 6, 2012, 11:44 a.m. CST
Democrats were +7 in actual voting in 2008, every other election before and since then had Reps and Dems about tied. In 2010, more Republicans voted than Dems. 2008 was the one abberation in the last 20 years when more Dems voted than Republicans.
by Coughlins Laws
Since 2008, Republicans have consistently drubbed Democrats. They won easily Governor's races in Virginia, New Jersey, Ohio, and Wisconsin. They destroyed Democrats in the recall in Wisconsin. In 2010, as a direct result of Obama's policies, Republicans had their biggest blowout election in 80 years. All Romney has to do is get 3% of Obama's voters to change their minds. Well, if you look at the amount of Republicans that voted for Obama last time, next to ZERO are going to vote for Obama again. Anyway, good luck, guys. Talk to you tomorrow about all this! I'll either have egg on my face, or be back here to gloat...

He's statistically tied in all those state polls. Obama doesn't have consistent numbers over 50% in any of the polls.
by Coughlins Laws
Plus, you have to believe there will be record Democrat turnout. Do you believe that there will be? Obama is not above 50% in hardly any poll. If you are undecided a day before the election, why would you vote for the incumbent? There's a reason you're undecided after 4 years. Look at the internals of all those polls and almost all of them have Romney winning independents, in some cases by double digits, even the polls that have Obama up or tied. Obama beat McCain among Independents easily in 2008, and now he's down. There's been a 20 point swing in favor of Romney from where Obama was with Independents. I haven't seen a poll yet that shows Obama beating Romney outside the margin or error among independents. He's down among Independents in almost every single national poll. If Romney wins Independents, he's going to win the election, period. If Romney wins among Independents in Ohio, he will win easily. I really don't even think it will be close. Romney's way ahead of where McCain was in early voting and Obama's way down from where he was in 2008. This race will not be close. Obama will not get anywhere near 50% of the vote...

by Coughlins Laws
That, and the fact that McCain got 40% of the Independent vote while Romney is getting about 50% in almost every poll of independents. The last CNN poll had Romney ahead of Obama with Independents 59% - 39%. If Romney gets just 50% of the Independent vote, he can't lose. He'll easily get more than that. Seriously, guys, Obama is going to lose.

There was a record turn out from independent voters and Romney got them excited. Neither is true.

Wait, no it isn't. But still, I can't wait to see who is right and who is wrong. My only request would be that, if there isn't a surprise "landslide" in Romneys direction, and he loses Ohio, Virginia, Iowa, etc….that at least one of you comes on here and just admits "I was wrong". If it does happen, someone else has to admit they were wrong. I just want to hear people have to face up to being so wrong, because with these extreme opinions, one side is going to seriously need to reevaluate their shit come tonight/tomorrow…right?

The Weekly Standard, The Daily News, Business Insider, US News and World Report, Rat Toomey, Charles Krauthammer, National Review, The Washington Times, etc, etc, etc, all predict Romney will win. There are reports that Romney is up in early voting in Ohio. There are polls that show Romney has erased a 10 point lead in PA. It's all down to turnout. Romney has the enthusiasm on his side. He's got independents on his side. There is no historical significance for the Democrats this side. All Romney has to do is switch 3% of Obama's voters...

The thing is, pollsters like Gallop, Rasmussen, even CNN and ABC are putting their names on the line with these numbers. The voting is happening today - we will have hard data to look at and compare to the polls. These pollsters would love to be able to say "Look, we called it right on the nose!" The more way-off they are, the more credibility they lose. Look at Nate Silver - he called 49 of 50 States correctly in 2008. He wouldn't be throwing out that 92% number if he wasn't pretty damned confident in an Obama win. He'll look like a complete idiot if Romney prevails, and no one will pay any attention to him in 2014 or '16. Do you guys who are relying on over-sampling and/or super-enthusiastic Republicans really think you're that much more "in the know" than Silver, or Gallop, or even Rasmussen? These pollsters ain't dumb...

Oh, so Gallup Polling and The Huffington Post are right wing? Look, if you want to believe that the Democrats are going to have an even bigger turnout than they did in 2008, be my guest. Just make sure you're back here tomorrow apologizing to me...
by Coughlins Laws
Look, we know for a fact that every statewide election in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, Florida, and Virgina since 2008 went overwhelmingly to the Republicans. Obama's approval is under 50% in every poll. He's been between 45% and 49% in the polls for months as far as a reelect number. He's not going to get any Republican votes and he's losing the Independent vote. I'm not making it up. Look at all these polls that you think show Obama winning (almost all of them within the margin of error), and they all have a HUGE Democrat oversampling, and they all have Obama losing Independents, sometimes by double digits. If you honestly believe that Democrats will somehow overperform their biggest election ever in 2008 and that Republicans will underperform what they did in 2010, then maybe Obama has a shot. But Romney clearly has more Republicans wrapped up than McCain did, and he's crushing Obama among Independents. It's not even close among Independents. Obama beat McCain by almost 10% points last time. Now he's losing Independents by almost as much. He simply can not win if there has been a 20 point swing of Independents away from him. It's not possible. I am extremely confident Obama is going to lose. If he's really up in the polls, why did CNN have to sample 11 points more Democrats than Republicans, when in 2008, it was only +7 Democrats? Does anyone really believe that the Democrats are going to crush the record turnout they achieved last time? Seriously? Romney's getting crowds of 30,000 people. He's blowing away any enthusiasm McCain had. Romney is 14% above where McCain was in early voting in Ohio this year. Ohioans are more Republican this year. They elected a Republican Governor and ousted a Democrat Senator last election. The more I think about it, I think I'm actually underselling Romney. I think it will be more like: Romney 53% - Obama 46%

-
Nov. 6, 2012, 2:51 p.m. CST
Early reports in Republican Counties in Ohio show a record turnout. Also, Obama as of Sunday in early voting is 190,000 votes behind last year in Ohio. McCain got more votes on election day. Romney has 190,000 less votes to make up on election day.
by Coughlins Laws
It's really not looking good for Obama at all.

Nov. 6, 2012, 2:53 p.m. CST
I predict the election wil be over early. Before a lot of Western states polls close. Romney is winning Florida, Virginia, NC, Ohio, New Hampshire, maybe Pennsylvania (could go either way), Iowa, Wisconsin, it's looking like a possible landslide.
by Coughlins Laws
Again, I'm sorry and please don't cry....
-
Absolutely right. Obama is going to lose. The press will spin their crap poll numbers as "there's NO WAY we could have predicted Republican turnout to be so high" when all indications since the 2010 midterms have pointed to excitement to toss Obama out on his ear.

sit down at the objective sites, and Obama has this sewn up, mostly through carrying Ohio. Romney just plain ran a poor campaign. It was winnable, Repubs just couldn't find their guy. Ryan didn't bring much to the ticket, so I don't think he will be the guy to go for it in '16. Still thinking it is going to be GHW's favorite son, Jeb!

Europe is imploding right before our eyes. Besides, why would you actually trust or care what the world thinks when looking at the results of their own failed economic policies? Oh yes, the VERY SAME POLICIES you lunatics want to see Obama emulate in the U.S. <p> Logic and reason are dead.

Google "world's most prosperous countries". Then count how many have universal healthcare, education entitlements and advanced worker rights. Sorry but social democracy works.
-
Nov. 6, 2012, 5:05 p.m. CST
In most polls Obama is winning the national early vote by about 8 percent. In places like Ohio it's 30 percent. That's a huge deficit for Romney to make up. PA doesn't have early voting...
by American Mythos
... so those results will be the purest example of who had the better election day ground game. By the way, we should know a little something about Virginia in two hours.
-
Meanwhile the biggest example of "social democracy" i.e. the welfare state is collapsing in dramatic fashion. Do a little research on Italy, Greece, Spain and France. <p> All roads of the welfare state lead THERE. This is not a political view, it's a mathematical certainty.

Didn't you learn anything from your WILDLY incorrect predictions 4 years ago? McCain's campaign manager even admitted that on election night, they knew they were going to lose, barring a miracle. And yet, you were right here, claiming all the Obama supporters were delusional, and McCain was going to win. Well, he got crushed. Everyone was right, and you were completely wrong. Interesting that someone mentioned the Wisconsin recall election
by Garbageman33
I see a lot of parallels, but with the parties reversed. We have an incumbent who people are pissed at and they're super motivated to get rid of him, but they missed the minor detail about having a viable candidate to replace him. In Wisconsin, it was the mayor who Walker had already beaten once. In the presidential race, it's the real-life version of Montgomery Burns, who has no earthly idea how to relate to the middle class.

Washington state, where I live, has the best voting system.
by Still_A_Lostie
All vote-by-mail. Ballots are sent out 3 weeks before the election. You can vote when you want, where you want, and can either mail it in the mailbox or drop it in a designated drop box. I voted last week when I got bored one evening.
-
The irony of your championing Scandinavia's 'social democracy'... is that their system embodies the very things you bitch about. You know, evil capitalist traits such as low regulation, low government interference in their markets and one of the highest labor forces in ALL of Europe. In other words...unlike most of Europe, the people ARE productive. That must irk you.<p> The rest of Europe should take a hint.<p> And it's funny how you conveniently overlook the epic failing of the main economic engines of Europe...just to point at Scandinavia and say "See! It works!"
-
I'm from an immigrant Norwegian family and still have cousins in Scandinavia. I've been twice and have considered immigrating. They have it so good up there and ordinary Americans literally have NO IDEA that Norway is essentially the height of economic development throughout all of human history.
-
What kind of "low regulation" does Scandinavia have? "Low government interference"? Seriously? You don't have a clue what you're talking about.
-
Damn right. I voted last week, too. And i wasn't even wearing pants.

A great, great system. I did find it funny that McKenna had to send out notices reminding Republican voters that they had to put a stamp on their envelopes before mailing them, lol. Durrrrrr
-
Blah blah blah...Mitt Romney hates puppies.<p> Romney is a good guy. Dude has personally helped people from losing their house. <p> He paid for the college education of two boys who were left as quadriplegics after a car wreck. <p> He helped a family find their missing 14 yr old daughter who disappeared from a rave party. He flew himself and all of the company's employees to New York to conduct the search. Using his contacts and money in New York, Romney led a search for the girl from a command post he had set up in the LaGuardia Marriott that involved a private detective. Bain employees and customers put up posters, handed out flyers, and interviewed prostitutes, drug addicts, and others in New York, and coordination with the New York Police.<p> The girl was found in the basement of the house undergoing withdrawals from a hit of ecstasy.<p> I don't care if you don't vote for him... but 'Montgomery Burns' my ass. I get the vibe you wouldn't have lifted a finger if you were in a similar position with similar resources.
-
Didn't hear that story about McKenna, but I'm not surprised :)

"The Swedish economy was in an uphill struggle throughout the '70s, mainly because the increasingly socialist policies had caused the economy to stagnate and lag behind the rest of the world. Many other European countries had caught up with Sweden and its monstrous welfare state and were now outperforming the country economically."<p> "In an effort to save the economy, the government carried out extensive reform and liberalizations throughout the '80s and '90s, cutting taxes and welfare expenditures, abolishing government monopolies, reducing regulation, floating the currency, and permitting more private alternatives in the public sector." <p> You want a link to the study... or are you capable of utilizing this thing called the Internet?

by Still_A_Lostie

He has to win all the firewall states, and that's close to impossible, since so many of them are leaning Obama. Don't get too excited yet about Florida though. There are huge lines of people in Democratic leaning areas that still haven't gotten to vote, and if a bunch of them give up and go home, it could screw Obama. Also, Florida and Ohio often lean Democratic early on, and then end up going to the Republicans, so don't get too excited. I'm very confident Obama is going to win, regardless of Florida, but let's be honest. Florida going to Obama is absolutely the end of this. Romney's chances of winning after that are less than 1%.
-
Obama with about a 200k vote lead. Could still swing, but looks unlikely.
-
1) Florida 2) Virginia 3) Ohio 4) North Carolina 5) NV and CO Romney has to prevent all five of those possibilities. I believe that NC will be red, but stopping each of the other four will be difficult. My prediction is that Obama will take both Ohio and the NV-CO combo.

There are metropolitan districts and rural districts. Record inflation, the debt is worse then when he started, gas prices are twice the price, his golf trips are nearing the hundreds, he failed in Lybia which killed 4 men and was covered up by the media and many others. So congratulations for reelecting someone who would rather focus on healthcare which drives up the debt then bringing more jobs to the country. Congratulations for electing someone who would rather be on a talkshow then protecting our diplomats. Someone who did a photo op in New Jeresy which shut down relief efforts and then got as far away so that he could campain. Carter was a failure, but it was through Reagans conservatism that we were able to pull out of it. Clinton wasted a lot of time on silly things and the country voted in the republicans and Gingrich who brought about great prosperity. Clinton was very smart to go along with it. Obama won, but barely in nearly every state, Romney won the Popular vote (as of now). I really hope that Obama can take a page out of Clinton's book and go along with the tried and true methods of the Republicans in the House. Amazing THAT gets coverage, but waging a "war" in Iraq that cost nearly $1 trillion, cost several thousand (not 4) Americans their lives, and was hatched under the LIES spewed by Cheney, Bush, et al about WMD stockpiles accumulated by Saddam Hussain. THAT gets a pass. Motherfucker, get out of here with that shit already!

Then why the hell did you throw your support behind Uncle Mitty, who's program he dreamed up ion Matts was the basis of Obamacare to begin with? You picked the wrong horse there for sure. More Republicans voted than Democrats, thus the Congress staying Republican. I can't believe what just happened, but obviously, whoever controlled the House, got more votes, and of right now, Romney is ahead in the Popular Vote. Obama, who has no agenda, will not accomplish anything in the next 4 years and is already a lame duck. Good luck, guys!!! I hope you are happy voting for 4 more years of people not working!!!

When will you learn that just because you WANT something to happen, doesn't mean that it is ACTUALLY GOING TO HAPPEN? You wrote: Prediction: Romney 52% - Obama 47% Electoral College: Romney 316 - Obama 222 Romney will win Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Iowa, New Hampshire, Virginia, and Florida. This is the same as 4 years ago. Its has nothing to do with all of the conspiratorial Ayn Rand nonsense you're now spouting. You were simply delusional. You wanted, so passionately, for Obama to lose, that you were willing to ignore polling, logic and math to make your "predictions". Delusional is a strong word, and I'm sorry buddy, but you are DEFINING the word with your actions. If you and I are back here in 4 years and you're still going through the same wacky motions, I'm really going to feel sorry for you. Can you at least admit that in the last two elections, your predictions were grossly inaccurate? That would be a good start. Surely you can admit that, right? You predicted certain things. They were wrong. Can you AT LEAST have enough reason and rational thought in your brain to admit that? Or will you dodge it and go on about conspiracy theories.
-
...and that is the problem. They won't cooperate with him. Shit, the Democrats cooperated with Bush. Or should that be that they were dominated by Bush and the post 9/11 fear? Because he's a liar. Because he makes money off of destroying companies and laying people off. Because he has no idea what its like to struggle. Because he has no idea what its like to be a regular American. Because he flip flopped on so many issues. Because he couldn't tell you specifics of his plans. Because he couldn't tell you how he was all that different from the President. Because he says things like he enjoys firing people and that he wouldn't have helped the auto industry. Because he contradicts himself on every issue. Because he will say ANY shit he thinks will get him elected, no matter how wrong it is or how it differs from what he said last week. And the American people KNOW that.

I think the old way of thinking is on the way out.. with a new group of voters coming up (women/hispanics) they will vote differently and we might finally get out of the good ole boy way of voting.. corporate america is implementing their ideals and way of doing business such as demanding more from their employees, meeting attrition, etc.. That trickles down into other things such as what we expect from our leaders.. You see more individual control over things ranging from employees down to consumer products.. with this kind of mentality its no longer going to be good enough to just get elected because you have been the senator for 20 years, but your results will soon matter more... I think within 20 years we will see less instant re-elections and more people actually having to be held accountable.. I believe that we will also see less party line voting and more registered independents... Just my .02, but still a bit more coherent than Coughlins Law.. Its people like him who refuse to change and will be crying on movie talk backs because no one will ever take them seriously.. We can agree to disagree, but at least you see where I'm coming from... Enjoy...

...a large part of the reasons for the level of unemployment is because of a Republican Congress that refused to work with the President. Just count the number of times they voted on the ACA versus they're failure to work on jobs legislation which they said was going to be they're top priority in 2010. Nevermind the fact that their willful obstruction over the debt ceiling cost us our credit rating. Mandates are largely an illusion and Mitt Romney would never have achieved one anyway.

The only reason Bush Jr. got elected was the masterful sex scandal smear job that got Clinton impeached and crushed the Democrats for almost a decade. Not that Dukakis, Gore, and Kerry were master statesmen. Romney seemed like he was spit right out of a mold labeled "politician". Obama at the very least (and granted, much of it was skin tone) didn't seem typical. We've had a lot...A LOT...of shit representing us to the world over the past, oh 50 years. I'd have to agree with the "zero mandate" thing. I don't know if this will change when all is said and done, but, as of 12am EST, most of the reports suggest that Obama still trails in the popular vote. Even if he does pull ahead there, it'll probably be by a razor thin number. If that doesn't signal a national divide then nothing does. He wins the war, but it's a hollow victory. Half the actual voters, or even slightly more, really didn't want him back for 4 more years. The real sadness here is the sheer apathy shown by the Republican party. Gore lost 12 years ago even though he had the popular vote. The Democratic party was in an uproar. Granted, Bush only won by 1 electoral vote, but that's all that was needed. With Obama-Romeny, I've yet to hear one person complain about the imbalance between electoral votes and physical votes. I'm not apologizing for the failures of the Romney campaign. Frankly, I still believe that the man runs on D batteries and has a direct bluetooth connection to the mother ship. However, I have to wonder if there isn't a hole in our system. To me, EVERY vote should count. Not just the ones in battleground states. Candidates should be fighting for every vote. It's a deadly numbers game. When you could win just a tiny percentage of the actual 50 states, yet win the entire election... That's a recipe for disaster. I'm a Republican through and through. My vote was with Romney. While I wasn't ever undecided, I wasn't totally convinced of Romney either. It was about the issues, imo. I have no doubt that he'd have been better for the economy than Obama. He'd probably have cracked down on China way more. That's for sure. I also think that he'd have given our military its balls back, compared to Obama who seems to not recognize that funding to the military is more vital now than ever. I also think that Romney would've been better for personal/state rights. The feds have WAAAY too much control and say over personal freedoms atm. At the same time, I don't think that Romney's religious views put him at odds with personal freedoms. The idea that he could appoint justices to overturn Roe V Wade was rather scary. It's not just about a woman's right to choose. It's not just about abortion. Ultimately, it's about EVERYBODY'S right to control their bodies. Imagine how much overturning it would stunt scientific research. Imagine how it could affect a person's right to have life support pulled them. I was cool with Romney for like 90% of his views, but this one seemed hopelessly out of touch. What bothers me about this entire election is how it was sold to the public. So much media bias. Who has the biggest smile? Who can you turn into a joke best on SNL. It's like high school, but without gym class. It was a sickening contest really. I hope that, one day, there will be some sort of real campaign reform. I'm constantly annoyed how a sitting president like Obama could continue to go on talk shows like the View or Leno when he should be running the country. Being president isn't a 9-to-5 job. It's 24-7-365. To me, Obama has only been president for 3 years. This past year, he's been in

Cough: "Obama has shown in this campaign he hates me. I will never support him, ever, for any reason"

When some Democrats mumbled that sort of thinking back in 2004 about Bush, they were called traitors to the country who didn't respect the office if not the man, and who should be lined up and shot.

You are finally showing the depths of your mental delusions. I love you, brother. Please don't ever leave us. Dare I say that I will see you in another 10 minutes? I think we might? I give it 80-20 against, but I will hold out hope. Just because the voices in your head tell you that Obama hates you (even though he has no idea who the fuck you are), we all love you, brother. Wow. So fucking crazy. Also, coughlinslaws, ROMNEY IS NOT WINNING THE POPULAR VOTE. Are you still operating under the same delusions that led you to predict Romney's HUGE victory? Romney lost the electoral college and the popular vote. It's done. I know you've said 3 or 4 times that you're done and leaving, but please come back to address this one last time, babycakes. Businessmen don't create jobs, consumers do. No businessman hires anyone unless they need those workers because of demand for them. If they really are job creators they're a bunch of assholes responsible for letting unemployment get so bad. I say let the sore losers "Go Galt" because guess what, someone else will come in and fill their void. No one is irreplaceable. If Ayn Rand's theories were true, Hollywood would have stopped making movies after Humphrey Bogart, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe died. But it didn't stop because they could find someone else to star in them. Just like they can replace the so-called indispensable "Job Creators."

I avoid the political tb's here generally, but sometimes I read them because they tend to spill over into many talkbacks, and while I see Coughlin's comments often, I tend not to respond. Then tonight after seeing the election results, the first thing I knew I wanted to do is come to this website and rub it in his face! LOL. And this is bliss. This like getting laid after 4 years of blue-balling it, and now I am spunking all over his face. In that regard, I have to thank Coughlins for this enormous pleasure he has given me.....no homo.

Watching the Fox News puppets lose their minds over President Obama's win...
by BrashHulk
Is freaking priceless. As soon as President Obama completed his excellent victory speech, I flipped over to FNC, kicked back, and enjoyed myself as the kvetching began. They are the most ridiculous group of Kool-Aid drinking mannequins I've ever seen. Although some of them obviously need to replace the Kool-Aid with Ex-Lax, because the looks on their faces were telling us that they were mighty constipated.
-
Look at Gore's, McCain's, even Dukakis's. They tried to reconcile the growing rift. Romney's "We'll pray for the President", and "Both Leaders reach over the aisle", just doesn't cut it. This was his chance, his one gift to America. This was his "Sister Souljah" moment. Give the country only he could have given Hammer the right for being obstructionist. Really knock the conspiracy nuts. And yes, defend his and Obama's and the conservative individual health mandate. Come together and give all OUR efforts to support OUR president -- like Gore did in 2000 Less than five minutes, of I wish I could have done more, fought the good fight, pray for the future, Very Wimpy, and a missed opportunity.

Coughlin, this isn't about revenge, it's about doing what's best for the country
by ATARI
I know you would never admit it, but Obama saved us from completely falling into the pit that Bush created. If the Republicans really cared about this country, they would at least try to meet the president and the senate half-way. Unfortunately that hasn't happened and probably won't happen. They are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats, stomping their feet and holding their breath because they won't get their way.

you mean like the ones in the red states which tend to have more welfare recipients and food stamp recipients than blue states? no those are the people whose jobs have been destroyed by obama right?
-
Really? You lose and now come on here and call everyone at large, evil? This was not a good vs. bad showdown on some movie. It was politics. I feel sorry for people like you. My in-laws are just like you and they swore back in 2008 that Obama was a muslim and was going to have everyone wearing towels on their heads and that my mother-in-law would lose her job and they would be broke.. Yet here they are today without said towels and they actually made more money the past 4 years and was promoted in their fields and even bought a BMW, their first +30K vehicle.. Do you think they repaid Obama with their vote this year? No, they continued to bash him and how they feared for the next 4 years. With people "hurting" like them its no wonder Obama lost.. Oh wait, he didn't... I wish you well, and also wish you would learn to take it like a man, but after seeing so many here ask for some kind of owning up from you for past arguments I doubt anyone will see that..
-
There's nothing quite as nourishing to my soul as sweet, sweet conservative tears.
-
And I resent that accusation from someone who doesn't know me and lumps me into his tunnel visioned mind set just because his candidate lost a political election. It would be nice if both sides could return to civil disucssion and thoughtful rhetoric that was tempered with commone sense and mutual respect. Yeah, I know, pie in the sky wish.

Hope you come back bro.

"Prediction: Romney 52% - Obama 47% Electoral College: Romney 316 - Obama 222" Also, I thought you were done with this site. I assume your appearances here today are tantamount to cleaning out your locker and saying some goodbyes...
-
Sadly, too many people and the whole new "gimme, gimme, gimme" generation voted their own self-interests last night. But I won't lie -- I did too. Like you, I consider myself a self-made man from my own business ventures which have personally paid off. Which is why I voted for Romney because I think Obama is just another typical Lib who wants to tax successful people up the ass, so he can play Robin Hood and be the "Great Redistributor" taking stuff from some to secure votes and power by giving it to others with their hands out, who are just looking for more and more freebie handouts in America's new, pathetic, lazy ass entitlement culture. To which I say FUCK OFF. Because my attitude is simple. If you didn't succeed in life, it's because you didn't try hard enough, work hard enough or -- let's face it -- you simply didn't have the brains, natural talent, or couldn't even manage to come up with one single creative idea that would let you to rise up by taking advantage of opportunity. Yeah, sorry -- it's this little thing called "life" and that's how it works. In terms of politics, I'm not going to get down and dirty and waste my time foaming at the mouth. I don't see any point in wasting the energy. As far as Obama goes, I think he's been a failure and, personally, he rubs me the wrong way because I think he's an smug, arrogant, self-serving ass. But, fuck it. If people want him -- you can have him. On the other hand, that doesn't mean people like me or Coughlin or millions of other successful people in the country won't do whatever it takes now, in the wake of the election, to protect what we spent our whole lives sweating and building. So it's no shock to me that I woke up today only to find Liberals racing online to flood message boards with gleefully gloating comments...while at the same time the Stock Market is already tanking to a 300 drop point. That's because successful people who aren't part of the 99 percenter whining brigade ("Wah! I majored in 18th century Russian literature and didn't end up with a big house! Wah! Someone needs to give me stuff otherwise life isn't fair!") are already dialing their investment firms or banks and what not to start cashing out or making moves to shift their money around for their own security. Which is perfectly fair to me. Hey, it's OUR money that we earned. So shut up about whatever we want to do with -- did I mention this? -- OUR money. As I said, if people want more freebies and handouts, go for it. But I'm not paying for it. I'll happily -- and very easily and comfortably -- spend the next 4 years on the sidelines, relaxing by the pool, where it will be fun (and a great social experiment) to watch these same whiners and freeloaders go bat shit crazy trying to cut up and ravenously eat pies that they didn't bake and that are only going to get smaller and smaller, as they suddenly realize that other people -- successful people -- are no longer willing to bake the pies for them or pick up their tab. So you can have Obama and enjoy fighting over the crumbs he tosses you. Me, I'll be enjoying some geek movies as usual and be grilling out by the pool waiting for half of this country to come back to its fucking senses.

Couglin and Jay ... and other Conservatives should be mad a conservative media ...
by Judge Briggs
It is easy to close oneself off inside a conservative echo chamber. And right-leaning outlets like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh's show are far more intellectually closed than CNN or public radio. If you're a rank-and-file conservative, you're probably ready to acknowledge that ideologically friendly media didn't accurately inform you about Election 2012. Some pundits engaged in wishful thing; others feigned confidence in hopes that it would be a self-fulfilling prophecy; still others decided it was smart to keep telling right-leaning audiences what they wanted to hear.
-
But guess what? You haven't just been misinformed about the horse race. Since the very beginning of the election cycle, conservative media has been failing you. With a few exceptions, they haven't tried to rigorously tell you the truth, or even to bring you intellectually honest opinion. What they've done instead helps to explain why the right failed to triumph in a very winnable election.

The American right is interesting to those of us elsewhere on Earth
by Adelai Niska
You guys realize that you have some of the lowest taxes on Earth, right? And that your massive deficit problem could be solved with some more taxes? Look at any nation in the first world that is NOT sinking into a galactic debt-hole. What have they got? They've got enough money going into government to PAY FOR that government. It's not that people voted to take your stuff so they don't have to have jobs. The left are not freeloaders stealing your pies. They are the only ones who see that when a government spends more than it makes, it should probably make more to cover that cost. That, or stop spending 50% of your money on military hardware, but republicans sure wouldn't want THAT version of big-government overspending to face any fiscal realities, now would they?
-
Yeah! I was so worried that the free stuff party was gonna stop! Since Obama took office, I've been raiding rich people's refrigerators weekly and it's freakin awesome! Back when Bush was president, I'd get arrested and thrown in jail for breaking and entering, stealing food, etc, but since Obama took over and turned wealthy people into second-class citizens and removed laws as it pertains to them, we've just been having a great time at their expense! Did you moochers get your free Porches this morning? You know that Obama promised us all brand new Porches if we voted for him (all taken from rich people of course). I'm planning on kicking out some rich people from their mansion later today (I've got my government provided attorney with me to help me legally take their stuff). Since I'm not wealthy and Obama won, it means I get their house by default. How AWESOME is that!!! No down-payment! Not even a single penny from me and I get a free mansion! And all I had to do is vote democrat? What a country! They can't even call the police! And if they refuse? Obama will open up a can of Kenyan whoopass and they'll have to not only give me their mansion but start paying me $1000 a week tax free forever (good thing I don't get taxed as I'm a moocher!) Seriously kids, all you have to do is show up to any rich person's mansion with an "I voted!" sticker and last years tax return (proving you're not wealthy and therefor have a right to mooch from the wealthy) and they have to give you their stuff by law. I'm so glad there's such a thing as Democrats. I can't imagine what life would be like having to get up and go to work. Having to fend for myself? That's just icky! Much better to have other people pay my way and give fealty to my supreme awesomeness! Generations of my family - all never working a single day and getting free money, houses, cars, clothes, flat-screen tvs...all from rich people forever?? Of course I'm a democrat! Who wouldn't be given we get free stuff from rich people?!?! Reality must eventually settle in of course... All you makers out there? Please note that we takers can only take your checks for so long. At some point, we'll take all your money and your checks will bounce. Probably better to convert all your resources into gold bullion. Then you can just give us your gold. Sure, it's heavy but we deserve it more than you so we'll make due. Thanks to Obama and the wealthy for making life sooooo easy for us, the 47% moocher class! And don't worry makers, after we moochers have taken every last penny from your coffers, you too will then be "not wealthy" and will then, by default, be deserving of other's wealth. Of course, you'll have to swear loyalty to the moocher party but given how much free stuff you'll get, why wouldn't you? Whoopeee!! Utopia, at last!!!
-
"Free Porches"? Do you mean free Porsches? Because I already have a porch. It's attached to the house I bought a year ago.

starship captain: thanks for a perfect example of what is wrong with the world
by darthflagg
You sit by your pool enjoying your "hard-earned" wealth while the rest of the world goes to hell and millions live in poverty and wonder why people hate the rich? I work two jobs and i still can't afford decent health insurance for my family. Obama may have flaws, but anyone who wants to help the poor and working class have a better standard of living gets my support. But then you're probably one of those people who think CEOs work harder for their millions in bonuses than factory workers earning $15 an hour.

By 2016, you won't have much of a country left to run. Obama's 'solutions' are fairly simple. Spend more money. Its what he does. Blue States on the brink? Bail them out with taxpayer money. Medicare and Social Security going bankrupt? Print more money. If there is ever a question of WWOD(What Would Obama Do), the answer is fairly simple. Spend More Money. I fully expect a debt in the $24-$25 trillion dollar range by 2016, along with massive inflation wrecking the economy. For at least the first 2 years, he'll get what he asks for under the 'Elections Matter' rule. That doesn't include fiddling while Israel burns as that situation devolves into a shooting war. I would highly suggest you make sure you buy your guns now, as we'll probably devolve into civil unrest in the next 4-6 years. But hey, kudos to him on pulling out a second term. Now you'll get to see why his shit doesn't work.
-
Hyperbolic bullshit panic. A lot of my liberal friends did the same thing when Bush 2.0 was elected. And yet here we are.
-
Nor were any of the Republicans in their primary. I'm amazed that it was so close with such a bad candidate, and the fact for the democrats that the economy hasn't rocovered much. If they republicans had a halfway competent candidate that didn't just have an empty smile and answered questions with go to out website, they might have won.

Ok, you have to give me all your stuff...but can't we still be friends?
by Darth Macchio
I mean, you gave me life, liberty, happiness, free Porsches (thanks Battle_Royale :) and yet we can't be friends? Aren't we both Americans? You, very successful, self-starting, bootstraps kinda folk and us, ne'er-do-wells, lazy moochers can all get along can't we? Since day one, I've never been wealthy and never had to work one day of my life ever. No calluses here people! Rich people owe me a living as you know. It's reality and always has been. My family has been getting rich people's checks since the beginning. Hundreds of years and we've never had to work a single day thanks to our government taking money from the rich and just giving it to my pops. Free! How awesome is that? Free money and all we had to do was be lazy moochers? Sign me up! Some of you wealthy types should be getting my PO box # in the mail any day now. I'll expect my weekly "moocher" stipend checks without complaint. I mean, just because our entire country is based on people like me taking from people like you doesn't mean we have to make this unpleasant does it? Perhaps, one day, someone with some book learnin will study how it was even possible for such a thing to exist...a country where half works and the other half steals everything from those that work. Doesn't seem possible to me but yet here I am, living in a free 21,000 sq-ft mansion with a free Porsche (2 now actually, one's a convertible, thanks to my local, and wealthy, Chief of Neurosurgery's generous donation to me!), and a full-time chef (the fish eggs were great dude!)...all thanks to the generous wealthy people Obama is requiring to donate their stuff to me forever! We can be friends tho right? Don't be mad. As I said before, soon enough, poor people will take all of your riches and then, you'll be poor too and will then qualify to take from whomever is left over as the wealthy. What then you say? Well, its simple really...people poor now taking money/gold from the wealthy will eventually replace those original wealthy people...the wealthy will then become the poor and the poor wealthy so then the cycle can repeat itself all over again. Horay! Utopia! What's in your wallet?
-
But I chose to receive a Ferarri instead of a Porsche. Sure as hell made sure I got my money's worth for my vote.

1. Expanding same sex marriage to the national level. 2. Global warming prevention 3. Renewable/green/sustainable technologies 4. Bringing ALL OF our troops back home (including those in Germany, England, France...) 5. Aiding the Syrians more in regard to food and supplies/precise bombings of Syrian government hotspots. 6. Only agreeing to the inevitable war of Israel and the U.S. vs. Iran IF Israel agrees to halt the creation of new settlements along the west bank AND agrees to give back said land to the Palestinians as well as recognize Palestine as a legitimate nationstate. 7. Fix our educational system by putting more of an emphasis on early education as well as the maths and sciences. We need our kids to dream of being astronauts again. 8. Make college more affordable with the option of being totally free with if the student maintains a high enough GPA, is taking 5 or more classes. 9. Put more of an emphasis on encouraging international students attending US colleges to stay in and start up their business's in the United States. Perhaps lure them in with the prospect of U.S. citizenship... 10. I could go on

O yes, keep having that wet dream of yours where you finally get to shoot all your hoarded ammo at those "nig-Uhmercans," pinko-faggot-liberals and illegals. Oooooo, Obama's gunna take our guns away! Ha-ha, the NRA's bullshit didn't keep Obama from getting re-elected even though he's supposedly "the worst president ever." It is a fact, though, that gun and ammo sales have gone apey since The O-man was elected in 2008. Maybe my math education was different but I always thought that if numbers increased (as in expanded gun sales over the past four years) that it was a positive indication of things getting better. Getting better for gun freaks, in this case. But to hear our brethren on the right, Obama has turned this country into an un-armed, faggot rearing, peace-love-dove, comminist unionized workers paradise where you kaint even buy a Red Ryder BB-gun to protect your home! O happy day...

You lost because your party is out of control. If you guys would calm down on rhetoric and stop treating social issues like it is still 1776. You would win every election. Go back to being purely Fiscal Conservatives. This religious right and unequal rights non sense is going to get you no where. If you do that I would have no problem voting Republican. Go back to worrying about balanced budgets not if Adam & Steve get married. You come off like entitled assholes. Accept that fact that sometimes people need help and it would be better if we acted like WE instead of ME. You guys really need to rethink the direction your party is headed because if not you are going to be in alot of trouble in the long run.
-
You guys lost because you just weren't Conservative enough! You need to take off the kid gloves and really bring out the Conservative ideas America has been yearning for since the Pilgrims landed in Massachusetts!. We want you to come out against dancing and alcohol and smoking and men having hair longer than a crew cut and women shouldn't wear anything less than a nun's costume and children should be strapped to mill wheel like oxen. Stuff like that. Also you weren't White enough. You guys just need to be whiter. Make sure no Republican any darker than Conan O'Brien is seen on camera anywhere for the next 4 years. That will lock it up for 2016.
-
First.. thanks for clearing up the fact that you're racist by subtlely invoking the N-word. Understood where you're coming from. Second.. i don't expect Obama to take the guns away(at least not until after he stacks the court). The point was to get your guns before the civil unrest begins, as you won't be able to get them after. And trust me, its coming. The economy simply cannot sustain infinite amounts of spending not tied to growth. Its like a rubber band, eventually you stretch it to the point that it breaks, and then things fall completely apart. But live in your fantasy world. Just don't be surprised when you wake up one day and find the economy has cratered, everything is sold in a line, $100k buys you a cup of coffee, and people start comparing us to Argentina or Zimbabwe.
-
Look nutcases, the goverment ain't coming for your guns (because I don't recall any major overhaul of gun rights after the many gun rampages this Summer like crazy Joker boy in Colorado). If they actually were, all the guns in the world aren't going to do you much good against a tank or drones.

Being born without the slightest advantage, he overcame every obstacle imaginable in life to start a business with nothing but the sweat of his brow and the ingenuity of his brains. While others around him had to rely on bank loans backed by collateral, all he needed was an idea and his own iron will to succeed. He started with absolutely nothing and he turned that nothing into something. If he can do it, anyone can. Congratulations, Grimey, you are an inspiration to us all!

...brother tailhook. I'm only repeating what I've heard some folk on the right say before. But, please ,now tell me once again how race didn't play at all in voting against Obama. Using John Sunnunu's logic, anyone who is white skinned and voted for Romney did so only because he's a fellow honky, yes? Yeah, the economy WOULD have cratered if Mittens, Take-a-Company-and Rape-It-Then-Move-On, Romney and a Republican controlled senate had become a reality. No thanks, we don't need any more of your "tinkle-on" style economics (see: Voodoo Economics) that never delivered on the promised jobs by keeping the Bush era tax cuts for the top 1%. To hear you folks, cutting taxes will cure everything from a negative checking account balance to genital warts! Thank God (as I have been doing all day) there are still enough sane people in this country to prevent four years of what surely would have been a financial disaster coupled with WW III.

It isn't just a matter of 4 more years... with the makeup of Congress and the executive branch, there is little chance of halting the legislative and regulatory juggernaut of Obamacare. Americans will suffer as a result. Don't forget in about 3 or 4 years what I have said. This will be the death knell for America.
-
If the average person is born into average circumstances, which pretty much defines the "middle class" of America as it stands today, you can go to public school...you can fucking put in the effort and hours to study and work hard... get good grades... get a scholarship or work summer jobs to save for going to school, and then make something of yourself. Or you can take a year or two off after high school to save money for college or even go to Night School and earn a degree WHILE you work a job, which is a time honored tradition for making something of yourself in life too. So don't give me this bullshit about how so many people are downtrodden and the pity party story of how they don't EVER get a chance. Fuck that shit. Even if you're the so-called poster child of the "poor black child in Harlem", you could go to public school which the taxpayers provide...you could stay off drugs or whatever other bullshit is offered to you...and you could realize you need to raise YOURSELF the hell up, if you don't like your station in life and want something better for yourself. That's the tradition of working hard that made our country so great, that so many fucking whiners -- like the 99 percent asshole protesters -- have forgotten in modern times. Do kids who get to go to prestigious schools like Harvard -- you know, like Obama -- get a leg up in the world? Sure, but that's the way it's always been, so quit bitching about it. Life isn't always 100% fair across the board. It never has been, never will be, no matter how much touchy-feely Libs think they can remold the world into their bullshit touchy-feely way. So man the fuck up and roll up your sleeves and make something of yourself. The rest of us did, so quit pointing fingers and saying someone kept you down when the only one holding you back is yourself.
-
By 2016, when everyone has access to affordable healthcare, even if the Repubs get back in the White House they won't be able to repeal it. Americans will have had their taste of what the rest of civilized world has enjoyed for decades and won't want to give it up.

But it's a lot easier to say "man the fuck up and roll up your sleeves and make something of yourself" if life has been more than generous to you. Not all schools are equal. Public schools in impoverished areas are not the same as the public schools I went to (probably not the same as the ones you went to, either). Wherever you started in life, just imagine someone starting with less. A lot less. Coming from nothing means you have that much more to overcome. Think of how hard you work; how long it took you to get where you are. Now imagine someone having to work twice as hard as that to simply get to where you started. Is that a realistic expectation that absolutely everyone should be able to achieve, no exceptions? Is it possible for you to have worked harder, achieved more, or did you coast and are you now half-assing it? Because if you worked as hard as you were able, how can you expect a greater effort out of others? Good for you for being a success in life. Hopefully you never know what it is like to have nothing. Finding yourself so far down a hole that, despite your greatest efforts, you can't climb out. However, if you did, you might realize that getting a little outside help, some much-needed assistance, can make all the difference. That little leg up from someone more fortunate than yourself who thinks they can give you the advantage you need to improve your life.

...that the republicans truly have gone insane is that they're completely misreading the reason for their loss. Instead of seeing that their sulphurous, hard-right social conservatism isn't in step with modern, western human beings and focusing on fiscal conservatism, they're already talking about veering even further to the right. It's a spectacular display of self-destruction.

somehow get along with vastly higher top marginal tax rates for decades before 2000 but somehow since then when taxes have been their lowest nearly ever all they do is bitch and complain about it? My brother-in-law (white wigger, but raised in the middle of nowhere) lives in FL, and met a chick about 3 years ago. She is black, had 3 babies (real ghetto) 1st and 3rd are from same guy, 2nd baby daddy in prison, all black.. So his white ass moves in with her and they live the HUD lifestyle... I have nothing against her or him for trying to be in these kids lives.. He got the oldest boy who is 7 in the boyscouts... Where I need explaining is how he wanted Romney to win, he hates Obama, hates wellfare, medicaid, food stamps, entitlements, etc, yet has lived with this chick 3 years, been on and off again unemployed and did not look for work while collecting.. Used foodstamps, lived in a 4 bedroom apartment with rent of like $500, and cheated on their taxes where he claimed kids not his and his girlfriends sisters 3 kids as well.. How the fuck is he not part of that 47%? He was ranting today about how pissed off he was that Obama won.. WTF?

Jay, here is how electoral college numbers and television ratings are the same...
by Uncle Pooky
They are both statistics that are used, in this case by me (electoral college) and you (television ratings), in order to be an asshole to someone. Granted, both are exercises of complete futility and prove absolutely nothing beyond their intended purpose, but if you're going to keep bringing up your preferred statistic, then so am I. I'd make my peace with it if I were you.
-
How did they get along with insane tax rates? Same way they do now and the same way they'll do it once Barry gets his hands on the rates. The difference is back then there were a lot more tax shelters and loopholes. When Reagan lowered the top tax rate by 23%, tax revenues doubled. Why? Because it started to become cheaper to pay the tax than to go through the machinations needed to avoid it. So if you think jacking it up to the rafters will suddenly be some type of windfall for the federal government, think again. The rich that can afford it will simply shift their money into stuff that isn't easily taxable or allready has a lower rate. Those that can't afford to do so, will get strangled for more tax money, especially the middle class. Obamacare is allready the largest tax increase in American History and will force you to pay an extra $200-300 minimum a month, no matter what. Maybe you'll get something for it, but I doubt it... as like me you'll go in at the drop of a hat to get checked out as its what you're paying for eh? With everybody flooding hospitals and doctors offices, the words 'Wait Your Turn' will become a mantra drilled into you. When you do finally get seen and get told you need X Complex Operation to survive, they'll schedule you for sometime after you're expected to die from it... especially so if you're fairly old and they deem you not worth saving. Thats NHS(National Homicide System) in England, and its coming in the form of Obamacare.

Surely you don't anticipate changing each other's opinions do you? The greatest thing about politics is it gives people a reason to hate one another where none initially existed. And wooo boy what a success it's been! I have lifelong friends suggesting I leave the country for feeling the way I do politically. That I'm not welcome here because I don't feel the way they feel. I know families that do not speak to each other due to political disagreements. The opposition wants to destroy America, right? Republicans want to destroy America. Democrats want to destroy America. I mean, isn't it obvious? Everybody is right, don't you know? We all claim to love democracy but then show, time and time again, that we are clearly unworthy of such a brilliantly cooperative idea. Half of us hate the idea of cooperation and the other half really doesn't want to cooperate anyway. Not if we don't have to, natch! We all claim to love our democratic republic but then we don't hesitate for one second to condemn our opposition as not just wrong but out for the death of this country; and thus, the need to remove them from the debate. Speaking of debate, does anyone actually know what one is? Ever seen one? There is no debate on the federal level any longer (for decades at this point) - what we get is a "show" for ratings and the false "contest". Phew...that said... I don't believe in false equivalencies and I do think that one party has done this far more than the other party but that doesn't even matter any more. Truth is dead and people are now gleefully partying over it's corpse since "their side" won. I thought this wasn't a game, wasn't the same clique-ish bullshit we got in highschool but that's EXACTLY what it is. Except for one little difference, people are dying in this game. But oh well, no person needs nothing...party on dudes!!!!

This is the last time you see either party nominate an old white guy to be President of the United States for a very long time. That also excludes Chris Christie. As good as he is, he just doesn't have the cross-demographic appeal to win. And cross-demographic pretty much requires you to have some type of minority status baked in(black, female, latino) so that you can pull people to vote for you. People talk about W getting Latino votes. Why? Because his opponents were old white guys, so there wasn't really a cross-demo to vote for.. and as such they broke somewhat along party lines.

There's a fundamental lack of understanding of Obamacare
by Snake Foreskin
And how it will have a negative impact on America. Doctors are looking to close their practices in droves. Healthcare will not get "better" with Obamacare. It will worsen through rationing and lack of profit motive. The best and brightest will get out and be replaced by foreign-trained physicians and nurses which will lead to a lower standard of care. In addition, the ederly will suffer disproportionately as the government bureaucrats with no healthcare training will decide what to cover and what to reject. Every American will suffer the ill effects of Obamacare. Perhaps not immediately, but the standard has been lowered and now we will plunge into the socialized medicine disaster that other countries are trying to pull themselves out of. Why must we make the same mistakes other countries have already made? Why can't we learn from their mistakes instead of making our own?
-
Uhh, NO ONE wants to close their practices. No one is "looking" to close their practices. Tell me, what's their plan once they do?

Empirical data is always ignored. Rove's meltdown was a microcosm of the current GOP. The math was staring him in the face. Every credible source -- even FOX News's own number crunchers -- pointed to the fact that a Romney victory in Ohio was an impossibility. But there Rove sat frantically writing and admonishing his colleagues, as if he alone, sitting in front of a TV camera, had some information that real researchers didn't. Common sense is ignored. When Republicans say things like: "I won't start a new business because I don't want to pay high taxes" or, because of Obamacare "Doctors are looking to close their practices in droves", it is clear that they don't have good sense and sound judgment in practical matters. And how can you claim to be the party of business when you believe such things? Cynicism has become a tactic. When you tell your base that people who need government assistance are freeloaders, you have to believe that either a) your base will believe what you say and will come to detest those in need. b) your base doesn't believe what you say but they think denigrating those in need is a good campaign tactic. In either case, you expect that your base would go along with what you say. I say, carry on, Republicans. Carry on.

Neither Cuomo or anybody named Bush will get the nomination. Don't be silly. On the Democratic side, nobody is going to be insane enough to stand in the way of Hillary for the nomination if she's healthy and wants it(and she will). She's got a healthy bit of baggage in combination to being an old fogey by the time she runs, but they'll owe her and she has the female vote Also, Cuomo is an uncharismatic piece of old white guy cardboard. He may have cheering squads in certain white Democratic communities, but no way does he even come close to a nomination even if Hillary isn't there. Being good at politics simply isn't enough. Its the same thing for anybody named Bush. All people have to do is go to the Romney Data and see that without the ability to break into demographics that don't normally vote in force, that you're DoA against anything but an old white guy. It really is a Reality Show now as the fairly young and charismatic minority of some sort tends to be the one who gets cast. But if either side tries to break the rule without both breaking it and casting old white guys, they're toast.

Nov. 8, 2012, 12:10 p.m. CST
Jay, Tax cuts are not free. To illustrate, let's do a little math word problem:
by BrannigansLaw
Let's say that you get $1000 a week. Let's say $500 of that goes to expenses, so you use the remaining $500 for your own enjoyment/savings. Now let's say that you decide you want to spend more on your own enjoyment/savings, so you decide to only spend only $250 on expenses, instead of $500. However... Your expenses never changed; they remain at $500 a week. So, how are you going to pay for that "tax cut" that you gave yourself? You have to cut expenses. That was the root of our discussion: Romney never had a plan to pay for his plan. He refused to say where he would get the money. And this is why the Ryan budget became a problem for him; Romney knew that if he openly supported it, he wouldn't get elected.
-
Nov. 8, 2012, 12:11 p.m. CST
Also, what evidence do you have that backs up your claim that we are "over taxed"?
by BrannigansLaw
-
The lowering of taxrates generates growth, for no other reason than the money realistically has nowhere else to go. When Reagan lowered the tax rates by 23%, revenues to the treasury DOUBLED. The main reason why debt got racked up to 2$ trillion over the same timeperiod was that the deals made to the Democrats(they controlled Congress) to get those tax increases, caused spending to far outstrip revenue growth. In an ideal world, you both lower the tax rates and also cut spending(preferably by even more than the amount you cut taxes), to lower public sector overhead. At the same time, this flushes people in government jobs out into the workforce. So not only is there money for businesses to expand, you cut spending by more than you lost, and those people who were in a government position that you cut are now moved into a private workforce that is growing. So instead of the taxpayers having to pay someone a salary of which they simply get some money they spent back, that payroll is covered by the private sector and they get fresh money from taxes. Probably the big question to you is.. where exactly do you think the extra money in the form of lower tax rates goes, that it doesn't help stimulate growth? Even companies like Apple that manipulate the royalty laws and run the money through a double irish with a dutch sandwich(look it up) and having it end up in the Caymans to have a lower effective tax rate, still invariably push the money they save from taxes back into America to fund R&D and the next new product development and launch.

BTW- why is the government allowed to do this and im not? NO WHERE can a working person go and ask for an INCREASE in the pay to off set what they INTENTIONALLY plan to over spend. its fucking lunacy! as to ur second post... *Also, what evidence do you have that backs up your claim that we are "over taxed"?*--- state. federal, local, payroll, property, death, gas....it goes on. thats WELL over 50% of anyones income. how much more do YOU want them to take from us? 100%????

Actually (and I didn't think I'd need to explain this) when one number is bigger than another it is a majority - and I don't believe it was an exact tie or Romney wouldn't have conceded. But you're missing the point - Romney lost because of social issues (a majority, or a bigger number of people thought he would be better economically). Perhaps it's time for the party to push back against the tea party and religious zealots.
-
You were lied to - rush, rove, Morris, Gingrich, breitbart, beck, coulter et al didn't say we deserve to win because of xy and z but it doesn't look good - they told you they were going to win - in some cases by a pretty wide margin. How can you possibly trust them when they say other (policy) things will work or not work with the same certainty. Isn't possible that they have a skewed view?? They ignored polls, numbers, and statistical analysis that was right in front of their faces. That would give me pause as to their veracity if I were you.

yea it probably wont be bush, but its entirely possible. cuomo, on the other hand has a very good chance because hes doing a crazy good job as governor of new york. hes got a 71% approval rating in new york, and for good reason. new york was in shit when he came into office, (due to pattersons incompetence) but he handled it well. that makes him a very viable candidate, and if he wins the nomination he has a very good chance at the presidency.

is thinking anything he's done in politics(so long as he hasn't invalidated himself via scandal or what not) really matters. He's an old white guy. You think thats going to pull black people to the polls? Hispanics, especially those that live outside New York? It only works if he's up against another old white guy. Its a Reality Show Casting world, homeskillet. You need an actor who can fill their ratings demographic while staying solid with the base viewership. That, above all else, is what Obama has proven. Simply being old and white and qualified means jack and shit. You can be inexperienced and an empty suit, and you'll still get elected because its no longer the substance that matters, but the style and being 'different' from the norm.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/rickungar/2012/11/02/non-partisan-congressional-tax-report-debunks-core-conservative-economic-theory-gop-suppresses-study/ That is a story about that non-partisan congressional report that states there is no correlation between lowering taxes for the wealthy and improving the economy. In fact, there appears to be a direct correlation between tax cuts for the wealthy and economic downturns. When the wealthy receive tax cuts, they don't actually spend it here; they're more likely to spend and invest overseas. Conversely, when the middle and lower classes receive tax cuts, they are more likely to spend the money domestically. Of course this goes squarely against the republican mantra of "trickle down economics", which is why republicans tried to suppress it.

I'm sure they will frame things this way: Clinton created a surplus Bush took that surplus and created The Great Recession Obama rescued the country from The Great Recession A vote for Bush is a vote for another Great Recession... or Depression. Just like McCaskill did in her contest against Akin, the Dems might actually find themselves running ads FOR Bush in the primary.

*You were lied to - rush, rove, Morris, Gingrich, breitbart, beck, coulter et al didn't say we deserve to win because of xy and z but it doesn't look good - they told you they were going to win - in some cases by a pretty wide margin. How can you possibly trust them...*--- again, u fucking nimrod, i have my OWN fucking opinion. NO ONE tells nor pays/influences my OWN fucking opinion. so, fucking STOP with that Fox, Limbaugh etc. fucking bullshit. i watch and listen to ALL info and news stations esp. the leftist ones. so, STFU and quit lying about me. that goes for the rest of u fuckwads who spew this shit. I HAVE MY OWN FREE WILL AND OPINION. MINE. CAPICE? as to ur other moronic statement... *Actually (and I didn't think I'd need to explain this) when one number is bigger than another it is a majority...* it was a basic TIE in the popular vote. u actually think that 3 million people in a country of over 300 million is a referendum and a *majority*?? *Perhaps it's time for the party to push back against the tea party and religious zealots.*--- nice bigotry u have going there.

*jay, your evidence that we are overtaxed is to say the words "state", "federal", "local", "payroll", "property", "death", and "gas"? This, again, is why Republicans are doomed to failure.*--- those are NOT examples of being taxed?? hmmm, news to me...

He won with the majority of votes (again like talking to my 6 year old) And I'm not a bigot I just don't like intolerance. Tea partiers don't seem to have a lot of religious tolerance and they tend to want their religious beliefs to become the law of the land. Not the most gay friendly peeps either. But keep believing that there's nothing in the current composition of the republican party that is crazy/dangerous -see how many presidents you get out of that, big guy. The people spoke and if Romney won by the same margin you'd say it was a landslide.

Scott Brown voted with the other side more often. And his moderacy was repaid by being fired and replaced with a pathological liar that will never work with the other side. Hope all those lefty votes were worth it, Scott! Thanks for all the fish. I'm sure ObeymeCare will be a smashing success. Telling doctors that they will be paid less for their services is a guaranteed formula for success. Regulation works each and every time it is tried! It will be equally awesome for businesses too. If only all those waivers weren't issued, even more businesses would be enjoying the benefits of ObeymeCare. It's a kinda shame. I was so looking forward to forcibly rape-raping women and denying them birth control while eagerly polluting the environment and laughing at women earning less than me as I enslave minority children in my tax-free coal mine. Denied! A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. - de Tocqueville Our post-partisan president won on the politics of division. That's some fucking irony for your liberal asses.

Extreme opinions, ridiculous rhetorical panic-mongering, fact-free rants (like yours) from the GOP and its pimps, like Hannity, Coulter, Malkin and hordes of other liars, are what made swing voters recoil in horror. Let's face it, the GOP threw away a winnable election. And by the way - this new Faux News meme about the "takers" outvoting the "makers" - is a classic example of puerile and offensive rationalisation. So 61 million voters and their families are freeloaders? Get a fucking clue. Wealthy white people who want to get richer "aspire". Minorities just "want stuff". Another gem from a network run by a senile ideologue.
-
is it THAT hard to comprehend? *if you listen to all news stations then why do you always take the hard right view on every issue?*--- because thats how u have a INFORMED opinion. what kind of all around informed opinion would i have if i just listened to/read all republican outlets?? unlike the majority here, i listen/read ALL things dem/repub. jeeez!! BTW- my opinion and facts are not *hard* anything. they are common sense. it would do u right (and others here) to listen to them.

*Jay not sure all 300 million voted big guy*--- thanks for making my point. *And I'm not a bigot I just don't like intolerance.*--- yet infers all christians are *zealots*. tsk tsk *Tea partiers don't seem to have a lot of religious tolerance and they tend to want their religious beliefs to become the law of the land.*--- thats obviously false. believing in their religion is not intolerant. when have they asked for the laws to be changed? they havent. quit lying. *Not the most gay friendly peeps either.*--- how so? because they disagree with them? wow, then u must really *hate* me, by that idiot logic. another lie. *The people spoke and if Romney won by the same margin you'd say it was a landslide.*---- no i wouldnt. it was extremely close. there ya go :)

you and every other repulican now has to except the fact that they can't ignore minorities, gays and lesbians and women any longer. this election proved that. the most far right candidates were taken down tuesday night. ALLEN WEST? GONE!!! JOE WALSH? GONE!!! RICHARD MOURDOCK? GONE!!! ALL THE CUCKOOS WERE THROWN OUT LIKE THE DOGS THEY ARE!!! how much longer can your party back rich, white men and ignore blacks, latinos, native americans, asians and LGBT people? not that long i'm afraid
-
The religious right doesn't want roe v wade repealed (that would be changing law), not wanting gay people to have the same rights as straight people isn't anti-gay it's just good old separate but equal, you would've been very humble if Romney won, and there's zero wrong with the republican party which is why they had a great night and won the presidency and control both houses. Oh, and you're good looking and I'm sure that coupled with your personality gets you laid alot. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh everyone, Jay is sleeping.

*you and every other repulican now has to except the fact that they can't ignore minorities, gays and lesbians and women any longer.*--- they are'nt. no one is ignoring anyone. yet another lie. *how much longer can your party back rich, white men and ignore blacks, latinos, native americans, asians and LGBT people?*--- again, no one is ignoring anyone. where do u get these lies from? back rich white men? now ur showing ur progressive racism. whats the difference who they back, as long as they agree with them? u backed oblameya so....why do u back rich black men?? man, u progressives are the biggest and worst racist in America. its sad.
-
*The religious right doesn't want roe v wade repealed (that would be changing law)*--- well. murder IS illegal. *not wanting gay people to have the same rights as straight people isn't anti-gay...*--- do huh? ur right, its not anti gay. they have the same rights as straight people. they just cant impose their lifestyle choices onto and into straight peoples lives and practices. its pretty simple. *... you would've been very humble if Romney won,...*--- hmmm prob not. id say it would have been an 80% chance of gloating. but, it would have been gloating because the country would have been on its way back, not further down the hole that oblameya dragging it down. * Oh, and you're good looking and I'm sure that coupled with your personality gets you laid alot.*--- THIS is the only true statement u have ever posted. i am good looking, have a great personality and get laid a lot. i just dont like to brag about it. funny that those thoughts would cross ur mind...funny indeed.
-
*because trying to deny them marriage rights,*--- news flash, gay people are of the same sex, not male/female. hence, they cant get married. im all for civil unions and they should take all their energy they use trying to impose the lifestyle onto straight people, and use it to legalize a national civil union law. that way they can implement it however they want. again, pretty simple. *adoption rights*--- that a tough one...i can see the points of both parties on this. *hospital visitation rights*--- no one is denying this. thats an outright lie. anyone can go visit anyone else in a hospital. *opposing enda all*--- ? so, as u can see, no anti-gayness in ur post.

first of all they actually can get married as they are in how ever many states have legalized it (forgot the exact number i think its 12 though) and in many countries throughout the world. they also arent trying to impose their lifestyles on to anyone they just want equal rights. if they are allowed to get married it won't have any effect on straight marriages. im glad you support civil unions, thats at least a start, but a huge chunk of your party, especially the tea party don't even support civil unions. on the hospital visitation rights, often if the person is in very bad condition or at the beginning of their hospital stay they only allow family to visit. since gay people can't get married they aren't legally considered family and are denied visitation rights. enda is the employee non discrimination act which says that employers cannot discriminate against employees because of their sexual orientation. most republicans voted against this. on adoption, no studies have found that being raised by straight parents is better for the childs well-being than by gay parents. if anything its the opposite because they will never accidentily have a baby and not be ready for it.
-
Well if I dont see how anyone was gonna vote for mitt romney. guys a scumbag to the 10th power... is this what the republicans see as a influential leader it's bullshit.
-
your party has so many diverse people. the republicans are whiter than the ku klux clan
-
*they also arent trying to impose their lifestyles on to anyone they just want equal rights. if they are allowed to get married it won't have any effect on straight marriages.*--- yes they are. marriage has always been between a man and a woman. its basic common sense. and it WILL have an effect. for example: if a gay couple divorces... who will pay the child support? who will get the visitation rights and who will get primary custody? typically its the man that pays and the woman who gets primary. so, unless the laws of marriage are rewritten, a gay couple must designate who is the *man* in the marriage and who is the *woman*. if not, this would be discriminating and unfair to straight couples especially men. this is why they should fight to not infringe onto others rights, but to use their energy to get a national civil union law. *on the hospital visitation rights, often if the person is in very bad condition or at the beginning of their hospital stay they only allow family to visit. since gay people can't get married they aren't legally considered family and are denied visitation rights.*--- thats bullshit and u know it. ANY person can visit. if u follow ur logic, i wouldnt be able to visit a girlfriend. im not trying to change laws cause my gf's dad hates me. *on adoption, no studies have found that being raised by straight parents is better for the childs well-being than by gay parents. if anything its the opposite because they will never accidentily have a baby and not be ready for it.*--- this, like abortion, is a HUGE grey area. tough call, but if im pushed, u have to go with a straight couple because its natural and not abnormal. its a tough call. i see both arguments. hey!! no one called each other a name!! well, its a christmas (early) miracle!!!
-
*your party has so many diverse people. the republicans are whiter than the ku klux clan*--- that is an outright lie. yet another one from u. i wish u could hide ur bigotry better :( like i said, the worst bigots and racist in America are progressives...
-
just cause marriage has always been only between a man and a woman doesn't mean that it shuld still be restricted to staright couples. up until 90 years ago men were the only ones who could vote, and it had always been like that. that didn't make it right. on the whole divorce thing, designating gender roles in divorces is pretty sexist. while it is true the man typically pays and the woman is primary, thats because the man typically makes more money or works more. however, as we become a more progressive society this won't be the case as much and there will be many more instances of the man being the primary and the woman paying child support. they could also pretty much have split custody, and many couples today do that anyways. also the way gay people handle divorce still doesn't affect straight couples. and if its discriminatory then gender shouldnt be taken into account when settling divorces, and it shouldnt anyways. you still haven't shown how same sex marriage will affect staright couples
-
with civil unions child support if couples break up would still be an issue

i posted it was *basically* a tie and 3 million voters, in a country of over 300 million, is NOT a majority. of course, u ignore this...
-
the pig maher, micheal moore, the coward keith olbermann, thousands of occupy fuckwads....i could go on...
-
the voting rights example was to show how just cuz its tradition doesnt make it right. just like voting was an institution that only belonged to men, marriage is an institution that only belongs to straight couples. just because its been that way forever doesn't mean it should remain that way. i didnt ignore your response i showed you why your response was wrong and u just said that divorce proceedings won't change even though they already have been changing, and will continue to, as per the fact its not 1950 anymore. as we become a less sexist society, gender will not matter as much when it comes to divorce proceedings. their are plenty of other ways to handle divorces for both straight and gay couples without involving gender.
