CIA analyst Peter Quinn (the guy who impaled Brody’s hand last week) is still gets to supervise stuff!

This new storyline about daughter Dana’s hit and run involvement feels even more like filler than did Kim Bauer’s Cougar a decade ago. Showtime says of “A Gettysburg Address”:

Dana visits the hospital and is shocked by what she sees there. Faber gets tangled up with the CIA when he asks one too many questions about his old friend Tom Walker. Brody agrees to work with Carrie and Quinn to stop an attack on America, but his loyalty to the United States is questioned when Gettysburg once again becomes a battleground.

Take that bit about the battleground seriously.

Premiering tonight:

America does not seem to give a shit about baseball this year. Two regular NFL games and a regular episode of “Walking Dead” beat the deciding game of the World Series last Sunday. One of those football games nearly doubled the World Series in adults 18-49.

hugo on once upon a time.. still not watching. homeland, peaked last week, from here on now its downhill and depends how long they are going to stretch it assuming s3 is locked in. the good wife catching up on it. 666 - is a gonna rating wise, i'm still watching its still ok, but i wonder if they'll have the opportunity to wrap up properly. the mentalist, gave up on this last season. only worth watching at the end and beginning of season for red john bits. formula is still good, elemental has basically ripped it off. dexter - deb seems to be no longer conflicted, the russian thing is dragging a bit though.

I am not loving the Dana and the VP kid's hit and run storyline, but it is no where as bad as Kim vs. the cougar. The cougar followed by being duped by backwoods Kevin Dillon made Kim look mentally challenged. The hit and run is a little outlandish for the show, but doesn't make Dana look like she took too many blows to the head.

  • Homeland was doing so perfectly, better than any show in history I think, of telling their story, and keeping brodys family involved in real, dramatic ways. They never even approached the filler, family nonsense 24 struggled with so, so often. And now this. Horrible. Just such a huge disappointment that they decided to shove a story in there for Dana. Showrunners must have known, how could they not know, how much the viewers would not appreciate this. They had to have known we would react with "oh fucking seriously?" Just tell the homeland story. I don't need a subplot about Dana realizing, on very vague thematic terms (at least last week) that "it's the lies that undo us." Can not believe a show as fine as homeland, in an episode as incredible as last week was, on a show run by two guys who absolutely know better…pulled this crap. Now there is an A story everyone cares about, and a B story everyone is going to roll their eyes at. Great. It used to be just an an awesome story. That was homeland. I hope this doesn't become too much of a mistake, because I love this friggin show. Don't be indicative of what's to come..please.

As transparent filler storyline, the Dana hit-n-run isn't half as bad as Kim vs. cougar. At least the Dana storyline is tangentially related to the larger plot.

Homeland peaked too soon this season

    by Titus05

they blew their load in the early episodes with Saul finding the tape and Brody's capture...now I'm worried that the remaining episodes will all be downhill

    Homeland and Dana Subplot Update

    by arzbest

I've read (where, I can't remember) just a few days ago, that the Dana hit-and-run subplot will start to merge with and become important to the main storyline in a few weeks. So, I'd wait and see where they go on this before branding it a Kim Cougar moment.

I think my issue with the hit-and-run is it's off-topic. At least the Kim Cougar storyline stemmed from events central to the plot -- she was fleeing a possible nuclear attack thanks to special knowledge she received from pop Jack Bauer. This hit and run business seems to have nothing to do the show's premise and issues.

  • I love how they are changing things up this season with magic in Storybrooke and Emma in fairytale land. Also with the new villians and the possible redemption of The Queen and Rumplestiltskin.

That Quinn guy in Homeland is pretty bad ass...

    by tritium

Not only does he have a cool head on his shoulders, and sensed imminent danger...my interpretation of the shoot-out scene was that, after being seriously wounded, he played dead, until the jihadists had left the tailor shop. Did anyone else think this...or did he just coincidentally return to consciousness the minute the terrorists had left?

America doesn't give a shit about baseball

    by Charnelhouse

That about sums it up right there. Football renders baseball irrelevant. And now the Walking Dead beats the final game of the fucking World Series. Baseball needs to be done by mid September, before football gets its stride.

we're going to get a Carrie/Brody weirdo romance redux. That was my least favorite episode of the first season. I think I like the red dress even better than the black dress.

Once Upon A Time was great again

    by Paul

A lot to the effects in getting Jrge Garcias Giant were pretty bad since he had a greyish color to him the whole time, but I loved his interaction with Emma when she had him trapped and the interaction between Emma and Hook was great also. It was interesting to see Emma's backstory a little, Now we know who the guy in the apartment at the begining of the season was.

  • Occurred to me, watching last night, that on Lost, we would have seen all of that Emma backstory EXCEPT the parts where Pinocchio comes in and takes her boyfriend away...and then like five seasons later you'd finally see Pinocchio come in and take her boyfriend away and be like ''Ohhhhhh, this changes everything... except I stopped caring about the mystery of Emma's hoodlum boyfriend three seasons ago.'' That and the Apollo candy bars. I dunno.

  • Dex has to choose between Hannah who he can be himself with, and Deb who judges him but is his sister and only real human connection and he kills Deb. and the final season is dark dexter, on the road with Hannah and it all ends very very badly OR same choice but Dex chooses Deb, kills Hannah and its a 'happy' ending
