Frank Grillo to play CROSSBONES in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
Hey folks, Harry here... I really can't believe that Marvel is gonna go where CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER may go, but hiring Frank Grillo to play Crossbones... well it certainly makes me think that Marvel is gonna go there. Right?
Folks - if you haven't read the WINTER SOLDIER storyline of Captain America and if you want to stay pure for the movie, it may already be too late, but a good first step would be to not read or even glance at the headlines in talkbacks. Frank Grillo is kicking ass these days, if you remember him in THE GREY, he was the guy that was the other guy in that film that when the camera was giving him time, you were probably smiling. Liam was simply incredible in THE GREY - and Frank must've been picked to be able to hold his own opposite Liam Neeson and he absolutely delivered. Man, movies have seriously started getting fairly mega-geeky. I like it!

I'll keep harping on this in every CAP/Marvel talkback, cuz Civil War is NOT what fans want to see on the big screen. These big-budget movies are few and far between, and we should see the best of the best storylines from the comics brought to life, not a half-baked, poorly thought out story that features superheroes acting so out of character that they are barely recognizable. The Winter Soldier tale certainly doesn't require Civil War, nor does it need to end with Cap's "assassination." It will be interesting to see what kind of deus ex machina they come up with instead of the Cosmic Cube to restore Bucky's memory - the movie universe's cube hasn't exhibited such abilities.

Seriously, Cap is barely a bleep in the present. They have to deal with him missing the past and being a man out of time. The Winter Soldier will be a means of doing that. Crossbones is simply a good Cap villain to have and reading more into it than that is just a bit much imo.

After 3 viewings of The Avengers I can honestly say it's not as great as the fanboys make it out to be. No character development, no peril, rather cartoonish fights and very little heart. All the Dark Knight Rises haters that love The Avengers have no argument at all. TDKR had emotional ups and downs, true peril, moments of terror and sadness as well as some of the best cinematography of ANY superhero movie. And the CGI was so flawless I couldn't even tell there was any. So for me, Dredd and TDKR were THE movies of 2012. But I am looking forward to Iron Man 3 and Cap 2. I still consider Iron Man 1 the BEST Marvel film so far followed by The First Avenger.

Hollywood will never take Harry seriously. Why? Let's just assume for a moment that Harry's actual writing isn't as bad as his reviews... Well, how would anyone know that with all his nonsensical gibberish? Absolutely nothing you've said is true... Now, you may wonder, "Hey, this is my opinion, how can he say my opinion isn't true?" Well, for one, I give you the benefit of the doubt that you're just trolling us. I don't believe that's your opinion. If it IS your opinion, and that is the way you really feel, here's why you're a complete moron... 1. "Emotional ups and downs" ... You mean Alfred crying over and over again? Batman getting his ass kicked only to miraculously be healed after his magic trip back to Gotham? The 'Batman in love' subplot with Talia? Let's take a look at why this film ISN'T full of emotional ups and downs... Batman retires for eight years, not just because of how hard it would be to operate as a wanted man, but also because his one true love dies and he wants to live like Howard Hughes in seclusion... then along comes Talia and he essentially says fuck it and forgets all about Rachel? Why? Because we need the scene where she betrays him to have more emotional impact. It's such shitty, obvious writing. Then he apparently falls for Catwoman, which makes absolutely no sense, because the only thing the chick has managed to do is rob Bruce then betray him to Bane. Ultimately, Batman: The Animated Series and Mask of the Phantasm are better and more emotional than this mess of a film. 2. "True peril"... How exactly is anyone in peril? We know from the TITLE that Batman will rise again, not to mention the fact that every trailer essentially showed us the architecture of the movie. Nobody important dies, save for the villains, and they die in absurdly stupid ways. Unless you're the type of person that thinks R.L. Stine writes really scary stories, there's no sense of peril in this movie. 3. "Moments of sadness"... You have to be the stupidest person ever if this film is an emotional ride for you. Are you referring to Alfred crying every five minutes, or the stupid ending where Batman just says fuck it, leaves Gotham in the hands of a complete novice, and goes off traveling the world with Catwoman, the person who robbed and betrayed him and pretty much caused this whole mess in the first place? Oh, that's right, she came back for one scene to blow Bane up! That totally makes up for EVERYTHING. Batman's in love now. Fuck Rachel, fuck Talia, Catwoman is the one for him! Also, aren't 1 and 3 essentially the same thing? 4. "Best cinematography of ANY superhero movie"... Which is why day turns to night, night turns to day, and then back again in several scenes. Sure, some shots were nice, but all in all the movie looked just like any other Christopher Nolan movie... Also, The Crow had better cinematography than TDKR and The Avengers. Not sure if you consider that a super hero movie. As far as COMIC BOOK movies go, Road to Perdition has, in my opinion, the best cinematography out of all of them. 5. "CGI" ... Yeah, the Batpod flying around Gotham looked SO realistic... This movie had such obvious CGI. The football stadium collapse, the Batjet, the flaming bat symbol, the neutron bomb explosion... Anyway, the point is, when you're trolling people who prefer The Avengers over TDKR, try to use arguments that might actually be believable. Everyone knows the reason there isn't as much character development in The Avengers is because they've had a half dozen movies to establish these characters, their universe, and what is going on. Whereas Nolan sets up this Batman universe, takes the time tro build these characters and their relationships (especially Bruce and Alfred), only to tear it all down. Suddenly Alfred, who supported Bruce and believed in what he was doing, now throws a hissy fit and cries when Bruce disagrees with him. Then there's Gordon, who is smart and calculating in the first two films, now he's so stupid he just sends every single cop into the sewers at the same time, oblivious to the fact that it's probably not a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket. So, in summation, The Avengers is not a flawless movie, but ultimately it is an entertaining summer spectacle that sticks true to its source material and the films that lead up to it. It's obvious it was made by people who actually read the comics and weren't just interested in getting it done and getting a paycheck. The Dark Knight Rises is a brooding, ham handed, bloated, nonsensical mess. Nolan tries so hard to ground his Batman in reality and build a world that feels real, only to forget it all like a kid rushing to finish a book report the night before it's due... Which is a shame, this movie DID have some awesome moments, moments that might have redeemed the thing, but then after each of those moments something stupid happens. We get the awesome Batman/Bane fight where Batman loses, only for the impact to be lost because all it takes is a magic kick to the back and everything is OK. Batman faces Bane again, only for the nonsense with Talia to occur, revealing Bane to be a stupid henchman. Then just when that moment might be redeemed, when it looks like Batman and Bane are going to fight to the death, fucking Catwoman pulls up, blows him away, and says something snarky. Batman sacrifices himself for Gotham, only to not have really sacrificed anything, 'cuz he's apparently still got enough money to travel Europe and live happily ever after, meanwhile he leaves some poor schmuck to pick up his mantle... It amazes me that anyone could say this movie is great with a straight face.

Crossbones won't be killing Steve Rogers off. Things get twisted on the silver screen from the comics an awful lot. (Did Bruce Wayne hang it up after three villains? Did Green Goblin and Doc Oc die in their first confrontations with Spidey? Did Buckaroo Banzai have ONE adventure? Look at how X-Men were re-imaged and re-written for crying out loud.) If they kill off Steve Rogers, they're going to break a lot of girls' hearts and hurt the franchise. I suspect he'll live, but there'll be another cost paid.
