  • In 2008, Obama said he'd pass comprehensive immigration reform in his first year, a year in which he had a majority in the Senate and House and had a realistic chance of doing it if he wanted to. Now in 2012 he's making the same promise again, but now he's adding on that it will be a major bipartisan compromise. Which is retarded! How can he honestly think that he will pass immigration reform with a Tea Party Obstructionist Congress! More lies.

  • Oct. 26, 2012, 4:26 p.m. CST

Actually, he had a supermajority for 7-months

    by Judge Briggs

Fucking hate this GOP talking point because it defies the truth ... The Dems had a supermajority for ONLY 7 months: By the time Al Franken was sworn in on July 7, 2009, Ted Kennedy had not cast a Senate vote for about four months because he was terminally ill with brain cancer. (He died on August 25, 2009.) Robert Byrd was also hospitalized from May 18 through June 30, 2009 and may not have been well enough to attend Congress and vote for some time afterward. Thus the Democrats did not really have the 60 votes needed to break a filibuster until Kirk took office. Byrd (who died in June 2010) was also periodically too ill to attend and vote during the September 2009-February 2010 period. ...Go google this ... it's in your face. As for immigration reform - this is actually something I agreed with Dubya on ... too bad the GOP has been hijacked by the super far-right making any sort of compromise with Dems VERY difficult. Not to mention, the GOP has done EVERYTHING in its power to make sure PBO doesn't accomplish anything ... Party before country is the GOP's new platform.

  • No, not uninformed, but unformed. I don't think there's ever been a candidate to run for president who believed in absolutely nothing the way Mitt Romney believes in nothing. George W. Bush said some stupid shit, but at least you believed that he believed what he was saying. It's pretty bad that Mitt Romney made me admire W. After watching Romney try to adopt every one of Obama's positions in 3 debates -- and now laughably hijacking the 'change' slogan, I'm half expecting him to finish the final 11 days of the campaign in blackface. He's the Al Jolson of politics! No matter. 11 days. Romney is down all the battlegrounds that matter, including Ohio, where CNN/ORC and TIME both have Obama garnering a virtually insurmountable lead. 11 days and this Republibertariandemogreenocrat Romney (get it, because he's for whatever you're for) clown crawls back under his strange, creepy rock.

    American Mythos...

    by Whedon

I enjoy reading your posts in these political talkbacks and agree with some of what you're saying but "Romney is all but finished"?? I don't see how you're getting that. Obama's lead in Ohio is within the margin of error 4 points and practically every poll on just about every criteria has been trending towards Romney. Its going to be an interesting 11 days however it plays out and I think we can say nothing is decided at this point...

  • BOR- 3.9 the dullard maddow- 1.5 the *all important* demo... BOR- 755 the dullard maddow- 595 OUCH!!!! Herc!!!

whedon, the thing about Obama's lead in Ohio is...

    by American Mythos

... it has been virtually indelible all election season. Even days after the first disastrous debate, Obama maintained a 5 point lead there, according to Marist. This week, Time Magazine also gave Obama a 5 point lead there. CNN/ORC gives Obama a 4 point lead, the margin unchanged from their Ohio poll in early October. What's amazing about Ohio is that, while other battleground state polls have shown a tightening (a tightening that most likely would have accurred naturally without the first debate), Ohio has remained steadily in Obama's column. And trend-lines among battleground polling this week actually suggests a small but important swing back toward Obama. Florida, which Romney had almost sewn up after his admittedly good first debate, has tightened back up enough for Rasmussen today to move it from 'lean Romney' into a tossup. Nothing I've read is showing a trend toward Romney. A couple weeks ago, sure, but the race is somewhere between static or a slight back and forth now. Aggregate polling data shows Obama ahead in New Mexico, Nevada, tied with Romney in Colorado, up in Iowa, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Ohio, statistically tied in Virginia and down in North Carolina and Florida. I'm a Nate Silver guy. He specializes in aggregate polling and his model is almost flawless, taking the results of polls by nonpartisan, R-leaning and D-leaning pollsters and averaging them into pretty accurate predictions. In 2008, he correctly forecast the results of 49 of 50 states, as well as nailing all 35 senate races that year. The only state he missed was Indiana, where he projected a McCain win, but Obama actually prevailed there. He also correctly projected the final popular vote margin within 1.1 percent, the closest result of any projection model that year. Today, Silver is forecasting a 74.4% percent chance of an Obama victory, with over 290 electoral votes but a slimmer popular vote total of 50.3%. Not only that, but looking at the individual polls he's averaging, there is no state-level trend toward Romney, right at a time when he needs one. Ten days is too little time for him to turn things around, barring a terrorist attack or stock market crash.

  • *...What a bitch...* RIGHT!! like those HARD HITTING interviews on The View....or Rock Center/w Brian Williams....or MTV....or The Pimp With A Limp....or Entertainment Tonight...i could go on, sure Romney would be held in such HIGH REGARD if he had done these interviews LOL. u dumb fuckers are pathetic. he goes on these stupid shows and gets attacked by the extreme leftist media with made up *gotcha* questions (whoopi goldbergs mormons serving in the military being a shining example) and bias, yet oblameya gets was u and the first ladies first date?? fucking pathetic. u fucking progressives are a BLIGHT on America. sad and horrible...

  • Oct. 27, 2012, 2:07 a.m. CST

Speaking of Nate Silver, he was a guest on Maher tonight...

    by American Mythos

I trust his accuracy, because there's evidence to back it up. He's been an enemy of Dems and Republicans alike. In 2010, for instance, fivethirtyeight correctly forecast 34 of 36 senate races that year. The two they got wrong were in Colorado (the Dem actually won by 1%, where he was forecast to lose by 1%) and Nevada, where Harry Reid pulled off an upset of his Tea Party Republican opponent Sharron Angle, where most polls had her winning. Silver attributed this to under-representation of Latino voters in polls leading up to the election, which might be a strong indicator that Nevada (where Obama leads by 3 in the latest Marist poll) will go bigger for Obama. In fact, even Gallup, while having Romney leading by as much 3 to 5 (where it stands today) is expecting voter demographics to mirror 2008 (where Democrats were heavily favored), while more pollsters are saying they are already exceeding 2008 numbers by looking at early voting exit polls. Predicting house races is harder, since not every house race gets polled during the election cycle, but fivethirty predicted that Republicans would pick up 54 seats in the house. The end result was 63. Like I said, Silver and fivethirtyeight have been loathed equally by Republicans and Democrats, especially the ones who like to cherry pick polls, but his record of accuracy is pretty damn good, and his math is falling predominantly in Obama's favor. And consider this. Colorado is tied in most polls. But there is a weed legalization measure on the ballot there this November, expected to win by, if polls are right, 53%. Those voters are going to favor Obama more than Romney. That likely puts Colorado in Obama's territory, making Obama's 2008 trifecta of Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado his 2012 trifecta as well. The Obama states Romney will have a real shot of picking off are Virginia (maybe), North Carolina, Florida, and Indiana (definitely), but that still doesn't win him the election.

The momentum is with Romney. Even CNBC is saying he's a lock now. Obama's Benghazi stunt showed him to be the Amateur Woodward called him. America saw the real Obama--petulent, truculent, womanish, insulting, condescending, and fucking A stupid. They didn't like it. Romney's win will be close to a landslide, even without Ohio. And he's winning Ohio, too. See you on the first day of Obama's whiney recount.

  • BTW- why do u idiot progressive always project in ur posts? it baffles me...

  • Two words: MASTER CHIEF!!!!!! And why the hell hasn't a Halo movie been made, like......YESTERDAY???? These webisodes (obviously just a marketing vehicle for Halo 4) have been fantastic and picking up pace over the last couple of episodes after a slow start. They obviously did it on a small budget but the production values have been top-notch and could easily slide into the second act of any big screen feature. Microsoft should seriously re-consider giving their flagship game franchise the movie treatment and with all the dough they'll mint from Windows 8, Surface and Halo 4, they should have enough to go really BIG and get a big ticket director and top-notch screen-writers (or they could even just go with the ones from the game series, since the story is already tight) and no need for any new art design or concept design since that's already done from the games, and then make a really reaally good movie. IT's just too bad that it seems like we'll never see that Neil Blomkapf directed/Peter Jackson produced Halo movie. Would have been Epic!

    by ShakaLaka Lambo

I swear you progressives never cease to amaze me. Anyone else notice that your Comrade in chief isn't going to win this election? What really amazes me is that you idiots will defend him no matter what he does. Lies about the embassy attack on problem, of course you wanted to crucify Bush for the alleged LIE about Weapons of Mass Destruction. (which anyone with a brain knows were there (don't believe me? Fine ask the Iraqi people, Saddam used em on them). Put it like this, if I had a stockpile of illegal drugs in my house, and the DEA went on television and announced in six months they were going to kick my door in, do you think the drugs would be there six months later when the DEA showed up? Yeah that's what I thought. You guys act like your in it for "main street' But all you've ever done for the black community is hold em down with welfare and food stamps. For a "community organizer" ol' Barry sure has divided the nation. What the hell people, this jackass hasn't done one thing he promised. The Immigration reform b.s. is minor compared to his claim in 08 that he would CUT the deficit in HALF. Instead He's doubled it. DOUBLED IT. This moron has spent more in 4 years than ALL OTHER PRESIDENTS COMBINED!!!! But this time he means it (reminds me of Bricktop from Snatch) "and I do mean it , this time Turkish". This idiot has never had a real job, how the hell do think he can fix the economy? Class warfare? It ain't working this time dipshits. Read the writing on the wall morons and wise up, Obummer isn't just going to be beat , he like that other idiot Carter is going to be beaten BADLY. (I"m NOT comparing Romney to Reagan so don't even go there) but I am comparing Barry to Jimmy. Socialism doesn't work. Sorry thats just a fact of life . He knew about the embassy attacks, he lied about it, he spends way more time smoking newports and playing golf than attempting to run the government, which I suppose is a good thing cause if He was in the oval office as much as a respectable president would be , our army would be marching jackboot style through downtown D.C. with Trucks and Tanks in line behind them while our Dictator stood to the side and looked down emperor style. God I'm so sick of this dumbass and his party's bullshit. Herc please pull Barry's nuts out of your mouth it just destroys what tiny shred of credibility you appear to have. Romney is uniquely suited to fix the economy. Barry couldn't fix my jock strap. Oh, and PLEASE FIRE DEBBY WASSERSHITZ that woman (and I use that term loosely) is a joke. I love how you dems preach about Conservatives being racist but were the ones who ended slavery, and we didn't have that good ol' boy (KKK grandmaster) Robert Byrd held up like a party hero. God Election day can't get here fast enough, ROMNEY RYAN FOR AMERICA!

    tied at 49% in Ohio

    by Whedon

No idea how this storm is going to effect either candidate on election day but new polls show Romney and Obama deadlocked at 49% in Ohio. Should be interesting...

  • Oct. 28, 2012, 5:41 p.m. CST

Cincinnati Enquirer has it tied. Other, newer polls, not so much.

    by American Mythos

PPP from today has Ohio 51-47 Obama. Washington Post has Obama also reclaiming the lead in Virginia (51-47), almost identical to PPP's new Virginia numbers. Two crucial battlegrounds, each with Obama above 50 percent with 9 days left. What's important to note is hardly any polls this year, from TIME MAGAZINE, to PPP, to Quinnipiac to Marist have shown Obama with anything less than a four point lead. Averaging that out, including Rasmussen and the Cincinnati Enquirer numbers, which are tied, Obama has a 73.5% chance of winning Ohio, according to fivethirtyeight. The Associated Press today all but called the election for Obama: 'President Barack Obama is poised to eke out a victory in the race for the 270 electoral votes needed to win re-election, having beaten back Republican Mitt Romney's attempts to convert momentum from the debates into support in all-important Ohio, according to an Associated Press analysis a week before Election Day.' The fact that the media wants to classify this as a nailbiter of a horserace is not surprising. A horserace draws viewers and allows them to label Obama 'the comback kid' on November 7th, just like they did with Clinton in 1996, though Dole never really stood a real chance of winning.

  • Obama will win with 303 electoral votes to Mitt Romney's 235. The states Romney will take from Obama's 2008 column: Indiana, North Carolina, Florida. Conservatives go crazy, heads explode. Accusations of election fraud run rampant. Media declares Obama 'the comeback kid' (as if he was ever really going to lose). We don't hear from Coughlins for at least two weeks, but Jay shows up on election night to announce he's moving to Somalia.

  • *I mean, he cancelled on The View ... If those shows offer only softball-like questions, why not go on them?*--- he cancels these because they DO NOT offer soft ball questions like the do the prezzy. they are all attack interviews and misinformation outlets. that bitch joy behar? please! she HATES romney and republicans. whoopi? race baiter and on the dullard maddow level of stupid. just look at the HORRIBLE interview that they gave Romney's wife! what a cluster fuck. if whoopi is going to try and smear the Mormon religion, at least get her *facts* straight. what an utter failure u are in life. if u cant see this, then ur a fucking idiot...oh wait, never mind. u fucking idiots blow my mind every week with ur dumbfuck inanity...

Good for you for doing GOTV. I've been phonebanking here in Alaska on Tuesday evenings. Yes, the Obama machine is even working in Alaska (a state Obama will lose) to turn out voters in places like NC and VA and OH. It is unprecedented indeed. Obama also had a great week; A stellar debate performance. GDP grew more than expected. Colin Powell re-endorsement. And Friday's jobs report will likely show another drop in unemployment (Gallup has the UE rate at 7.2 right now). I don't think there's much Romney can do at this point accept play the inevitability game, which the losers in presidential campaigns have historically played.

  • ...but that wont stop u from lying about me, will it? *Yet, this should surprise no one considering he's a Newsbusters plagiarizing hack.*--- so, morning joe did NOT ask just those 2 questions? how does one plagiarize facts anyway?? as usual, go fuck urself, gaius.

  • ...bullshit. dont give a shot if u (or any of u progressive idiots) ever respond to any of my posts. dems the facts :)

I've lived in the NoVA/DC area since about 1978. So, I really don't give a damn what you think you know about the area because you've provided no working knowledge of it. Your hyperbole betrays you...just like your overzealous partisan sniping. Did I say anything about those questions in relation to your past copy & paste jobs from Newsbusters? No, I didn't. Piss poor attempt at trying to change the subject. Good lord, you are such a fucking bitch.

No, I didn't. Piss poor attempt at trying to change the subject.*--- then why bring it up u dipshit? i brought up facts about a leftist channels biased, softball interview and u then inferred something about me and newsbusters. and ur saying I'M the one changing the subject lol??? what a partisan moron u are. great googly moogly, ur a fucking nimrod. BTW- truth and facts are not *copy and paste jobs*, they're just truth and facts.

Quote: i dont give a shit about what u think either. I don't give a damn and you don't give a shit. Well, then we are at an impasse. Quote: i go there every week... Every week? To do what...military duty? Contracting in the IT Corridor? Lemme stay at the same hotel, drink at the same watering holes, and then bolt. Sound about right? No? Do tell. Quote: i lived there for 4 fucking years. thats plenty *working knowledge* u idiot. Did you live in a partisan stupor for 4 years?! Where is this "working knowledge"? Show it. Explain it to me and everyone here. (You do realize that the phrase "working knowlege" is not literally about your job, right?) Quote: i brought up facts about a leftist channels biased, softball interview and u then inferred something about me and newsbusters. and ur saying I'M the one changing the subject lol??? I did not address the interview. That was not the intent of MY post. I called horseshit on your smear of NoVA and I stated a fact about what you've done in the past and how it directly relates to your pathetic, partisan BS on this site. PLEASE try to follow along for once! Quote: what a partisan moron u are. Here, have a mirror... Quote: great googly moogly, ur a fucking nimrod. Now, are you looking in the mirror, bitch? Quote: BTW- truth and facts are not *copy and paste jobs*, they're just truth and facts. Yet another example of the mental rot taking place in the brains of you far-right conservatives. An opinion piece does not constitute truth or facts. Copying and pasting said opinion piece(s) and passing it off as your own constitutes partisan hackery and intellectual fraud. How on Earth did you ever make it out of grade school, you sad little man?!

even when confronted with facts to dispute ur inanity, u still cling to ur bitter, partisan world view. im sure IF i gave u more evidence u would somehow twist that to fit ur narrative. ur a sad fuck. everything i said is true, but that doesnt stop partisan, sad fucks (like YOU) from continuing to lie about me. u do ur progressive brethren proud...
