Christopher Landon Will Direct The PARANORMAL ACTIVITY Latino Spin-Off!!
The Kidd here...
In a move that seemed almost inevitable given his familarity with the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series, Christopher B. Landon, writer on the last three PA films, has been tapped to direct the untitled Latino spin-off of the franchise.
This new film, which is aimed at the Latino audience that has greatly supported the PARANORMAL franchise in the past, would take place in a Latino setting, with a mix of English and Spanish language, while also incorporating the very same demon we've come to expect from the first four PARANORMAL ACTIVITY films, according to Deadline.
Landon, whose other big credit has been penning the script for the Shia LaBeouf film DISTURBIA, was last seen behind the camera for 2010's BURNING PALMS, which featured Jamie Chung, Rosamund Pike and Dylan McDermott.
No cast has been set yet for this new picture; not like we'd find out once it was secured anyway, as everything about these films has been kept relatively quiet along the way - expect a bunch of relative unknowns. However, Paramount is looking to have something together rather quickly with the goal being to turn around a final cut for a possible Spring 2013 release.

Here's my idea for a trailer to a new "Paranormal" film...
by The Marquis de Side 3
...a person being harassed by the demon in their house in traditional "Paranormal Activity" style, viewed through cameras, no music, only sounds are their screams... Suddenly, the front doors burst open and all four Ghostbusters come out and zap and trap the demon. Cue the Ray Parker music, and then the trailer ends with Bill Murray quoting their bill to the person. "Hey if you don't want to pay, we can just let him back loose in the kitchen!" :o) (*sigh*) Seriously, that's never going to happen. No one in Hollywood knows how to write good movies anymore... :o(

If this was an Asian version of Paranormal Activity this thread would be full of jokes about terrible driving and the eating of cats. Hate the movie if you must, but not the race.

its Gonna be pretty hard to haunt a latino familys house with all 36 children & the mother who lost her legs to the diabetes as well as the tatoo necked gang member father...the best the ghost can do to scare these people is to run around screaming INS INS...La Migra La Migra

There's a brief clip after the credits in PA4 from this spin-off, with some guys walking through a sore before getting shooed away by an old lady (presumably the shopkeeper). Don't speak spanish so I have no idea what they were saying but there's no actual paranormal activity shown in the clip.
-
Browsing Wikipedia, it seems that after the first PA movie came out, a company in Japan made their own sequel to it called Paranormal Activity 2: Toyko Night (though international releases have dropped the "2"). Seems like it's technically unofficial to the series, though. Going by the wiki plot summary, the only connection to the original film is that someone gets in a car accident with Katie and the demon starts haunting the other person.

@wilford_brimleys_diabetes_rage - you described a CHICANO family, you numbnuts. Why would they get scared of 'La Migra'?
by TheKiller7
If you were targeting the illegals that took your job away picking strawberries at a field, then you should've described it like this: "its Gonna be pretty hard to haunt a latino familys (typo is from the original source- probably someone who should be sent back to his country of origin as well) which would be an EMPTY house because they're all working several jobs to send money to Mexico ...the best the ghost can do to scare these people is to run around screaming INS INS...La Migra La Migra AT THEIR PLACE OF WORK."

...because it will only be about 5 minutes long. they will run the hell out of the house at the first sign of a ghost.

Well, spoof really. Called A Haunted House, and the trailer is attached to PA4, which ironically does cause any serious attempts at horror in the actual feature presentation to be dulled.

Why must people support this tripe in any language? Do they expect us to actually eat this tripe? 'Cue simpsons quote here' Talk about Hollywood suits getting the last laugh. Everybody that comments on this site bitches about how Hollywood has no ideas and regurgitates the same crap over and over, yet utter shit like Paranormal Activity gets praised and makes a shitload of money. This film cost $5 million dollars to make but made $35 million in it's first weekend. We will never see the end of this shit and the producers are laughing their asses off. This is the equivalent of reality TV. Zero money, a shitty script, terrible actors, bad cinematography and BAM add some Parsley and there you go, HUGE PROFITS! And all you asshlles love it!! Oh yeah, and 'The Kidd' is and utter douchebag.
-
That's about five months away. Although I'm sure you can shoot, cut and score these kinds of movies over a long weekend, if there's enough coke made available.

They've already been filming it, so Spring isn't unreasonable.
by TheSecondQuest
They've already shot footage for the film (as I mentioned earlier, a small clip played after PA4's credits) so it's presumably already been written/planned/cast/etc, so hitting a Spring 2013 release date isn't that questionable considering the limited post production work these films would need.

Sinister is far superior to PA4. Go see it
-
Sinister was pure shit. If only due to the trailer showing the entire movie and the killers being explained in the trailer and fleshed out in the movie itself. I'm not spoiling a thin by telling you e kids are the ones doing the killing as Rey are possessed by the demon. Decent concept, horrible execution. If you watche one trailer you saw every jump scare in the movie, and there wasn't much else. There was decent set up with the videos and such, but it just didn't go anywhere. Huge fail. Infinitely better than any paranormal Activity movie of course because Sinister actually tried. The marketing department killed most of the movie.

Besides, I have seen some of this movie. The scene where they mount a tiny camera from the "California Raisins" air freshener hanging from the rear-view mirror in the El Camino in which the family lives is a frightening moment, especially when they fast forward the footage later and see the stolen copper siding in the bed of the car move seemingly on its own.
