Honestly, last week's Homeland pacing was a little slow. And this is coming from a guy who LOVED Rubicon.
by American Mythos
It was almost laughable watching the tailor consider multiple times a sneak attack on Brody, sort of like a Looney Tunes segment where one character keeps sneaking up on the other with a hammer, only for his target to turn around and catch him. That's forgiveable, but you could definitely tell this episode was deliberately paced to draw out the hour, and that's just so unlike a show that I thought had found a good balance between the methodical simmer of Rubicon and the high action of 24. Regain that balance, it's perfect for Homeland. Still, a very great show.
-
60 minutes reporting on weed, dexter, homeland, boardwalk empire, and walking dead wow talking dead gets a 1.2 higher or around the same as network shows
-
It is written in such a way that things happen naturally. There aren't these artificial tent-pole moments in every episode meant to suck the audience into a part of the story. It just exists to be absorbed as it goes on. And things that happen in episode 1 will organically pay off in episode 5 and so on. It reminds me a lot of how THE WIRE told its story. Perhaps COPPER will be fully appreciated years after it is gone.
-
is great. how dislikeable is jessica brody becoming
-
where Jessica brody becomes the VP nominee. and that info gets out about Nicholas brody and abu Nazir.
-
Pretty sure that he's "Estes' trusted operative" and that he's also a double agent for Nazir.

I do not like Homeland. It feels forced, highly derivative, dull, and not believable.
by I_Love_LanaLang
I will watch The Walking Dead and 666 and nothing else. Nothing else is worth watching on Sunday night. 60 Minutes has become a sad parody of what it once was. Dexter should've ended a few season's ago. Revenge was never interesting. 666 isn't a great show, but the bald guy who plays the evil owner of the 666 building is quite a good actor. Vanessa Williams is a decent actress, but unfortunately she has really aged since I last saw her on tv. She used to be an attractive woman, but that has all gone away.
-
It's honestly crazy.
-
Do they get paid by the anachronism? If not, do they save money by not hiring actual actors? HOLY SHIT IT WAS BAD.
-

AMC should go ahead and pull the plug on Comic Book Men already...
by Jason Adkins
which I'm sure they will soon enough. They could move up "Talking Dead" a half hour and get better ratings than "Comic Book Men" ever would pull in. And this is coming from a fan of "Clerks", "Chasing Amy" and hell I even watch the occasional episode of "Pawn Stars" on History Channel. But damn I'd rather watch two dirty homeless people fucking than sit through another lame ass episode of "Comic Book Men". I know there are still some people out there who would claim Kevin Smith is still a relevant filmmaker. But, after the whole "Red State" debacle, he lost this fan of his work that went back to about 1993. "Red State" was the biggest piece of shit I think I've ever seen in my life. Anybody who can still find his stuff entertaining today, can have him and his tired dick jokes.

Comic Book Men would be interesting if they actually sold comics
by sunwukong86
The show is a Pawn Stars rip off but people don't just randomly come in a comic book shop and look to sell the crap these people bring in
-
the actors don't really seem to care anymore
-
Anyone who says "I will watch Walking dead and 666 and nothing else", on a night when 2 of the greatest shows on TV air (Homeland, Boardwalk), clearly has terrible tastes.
-
fact
-
It is amazing how much the quality has dropped from the first few seasons until what we have today. It still has its moments and is better than your average show. But, they should have wrapped Dexter Morgan up a couple years ago (yes pun intended).
-

Its becoming as trendy to rip on Dexter as it is to rip on Phantom Menace
by Andrew
I have a feeling most of the twats complaining about it aren't even watching it. 1 bad season out of 7 - and even the "bad" season was better than most everything else on TV.
-
He finds out he wasn't actually adopted shortly after and decides to keep on fucking her anyway. That shit was crazy!

Deb's menstrual blood will end up on a glass slide this week.
by Metroid_Fetish
Spoilers in subject.
-
Watching deb twisting morally in the wind has been solidly worth the wait. hated last season, but other than that, Dex has been a favorite show.
-
How does this clown get to see episodes of ANYTHING before we do? Just asking.
-
Oh woman of wisdom, goddess of gab and empress of excellence. I agree with you on Homeland. Make a series and push the patriotism and voila a (Sc)Emmy. How predictable do you want the (Sc)Emmies to be? The only thing Dexter manages to kill is my patience. Revenge is full of people nobody would like in real life. But you I really like. You are the icing on the cake in my life. Every day I think: "It's great to know there is a woman that inspires me. Where is that lady of pure love? Who is she inspiring today? Why am I surrounded by cold women that can't even cook an egg, let alone awake a scintilla of inspiration within me?" I think you should start teaching women how to be women, because they sure didn't pay attention in their life. And please let them get rid of their stupid smartphones, because those phones don't make them any smarter. And with that I leave you, my sweet and sensual superstar of sophistication.
-
Such great writing, etc, its no wonder that its just below Walking Dead in the ratings! The newest Entertainment Weekly has a great article about the show along with a cool second article with concept art where they talk about building the world.
-
an article states that it could function as a season ending cliffhanger or even a series ender...I'm very curious to see for my myself tonight the show has been moving along at a rapid fire pace this season...so many big reveals on a weekly basis
-
Herc even says that at the top... lol, learn to read? Unless there's two big final scenes which wouldn't be a huge shocker as pretty much every episode ends with a bang.
-
havn't heard anything about next week so maybe there's another twist coming next week as well
-

wow Herc, those shows aren't even on tonight due to FOX broadcasting the baseball playoffs... next time do 5 minutes of research before you post an article
-
Who is watching that? Anyways haters can hate, this season of Dexter is great so far. I only wish they had made better use of Louis. Talk about wasted potential.
-
I had to take a dump and missed that part.

Homeland FUCKING ROCKED tonight. Simply an incredible WTF moment!!!
by tritium
I can't believe the writers did what they did, on the fourth friggin' episode of this season. That is some brave shit, right there. Possibly the best episode of Homeland yet. And no, I have no idea how they are going to go forward from this point...but I, for one, am ready for one hell of a ride.
-
wait till next week.
-
Oct. 21, 2012, 11:39 p.m. CST
Herc, I'll take you at your word, but I just don't see how ANYTHING could possibly top tonight's last scene

Brody dying???

I can't friggin' wait. Bring it on! I am so glad I have watched this series from day one.

Dexter grew balls by letting Debra find out early in the season
by David Duchovny
and now the Homeland writers hit a home run tonight. I think this is the Vince Gilligan effect. Breaking Bad changed the rules about predictability in story telling--and writers who were craving challenges realized from that show that it was ok to blow their wads early and write themselves into a corner. That's where the fun is. Kudos.

Hercules could only be alluding to two things: Either Brody dies or he is convinced to flip allegiances once again.
by RedJester
Neither of those would be very unexpected however, but they are the only two options that make any sense.
-
Loved how Rumplestiltskin/Mr Gold is now Belles Beast & Captain Hooks Crocodile. Plus Belles a Librarian! It was cool that Rubby/Red Riding Hood used her wolf smelling ability, but I was surrpised that she wasn't able to turn into a wolf since magic was back. Maybe its the same reason why Regina can't fully use her magic?
-
i can't imagine how they're gonna top it next week. i am so pumped though, this is gonna be a tough week
-
Never have I encountered a human being with such magnificent powers of extrospection as you. It's as if you can read my mind. We are sharing a wavelength that no one else can understand. We are joined at a very deep and primal level while fully comprehending each other's higher states of mind. Describing our relationship as symbiotic would be an insult to our perfect synergy. I don't expect some of the dullards to understand.

When Brody was starting his menacing monologue to Carrie during their confrontation, I almost expected Damian Lewis...
by American Mythos
...to bust out his evil English accent from DREAMCATCHER. What a great episode. I find it hard to believe next week tops this, but I'll take Herc's word for it. Next Sunday should be jaw-dropping!
-
Oct. 22, 2012, 2:27 a.m. CST
And I hope they don't kill Brody, because that would just be a wasted death. And if that's the case...
by American Mythos
...the best way to have him go out would have been the season one finale, taking out VP Walden and Estes with him. Let's hope Brody's 'bullet to the head' line wasn't prescient.
-
Oh, my superlative of sexy sophistication. You are so cool and you know why? Because you are so in tune with your emotions. I can feel them through my monitor and in every fiber of my being. I imagine what it would be like if we took a walk on the beach. We probably wouldn't finish the walk. And oh my, can you play it rough! I kiss your hand, my charming and charismatic celestial chica.

Jessica blurted out about the crazy lady and her husband...
by emeraldboy
jessica told mike the name of the crazy lady was carrie. Nicholas brody bites the bullet after Mike learns brody is working with Abu nazir. I reckon that jess reveals to mike that about brody's conversion to islam. jess becomes the VP nom after her husband bites the bullet.
-
there. a few weeks ago the name emeraldboy was blacklisted. so I got a new name, popboy and that worked. so I accidently log in under emeraldboy and its been unblacklisted
-
Acknowledge bitches!
-
No more ridiculous then Deb just accepting the fact that her brother is a serial killer and going to work with him every day, business as usual. I am the biggest Dexter fan, never missed a minute, but these last two seasons are just beyond lazy/silly writing. I will never leave the show, I'm in for the long haul, and every once and a while it gives you a moment that makes you remember why you loved it, but I really think the way they handled Deb is just absurd. Its almost like the writers wanted so bad to end the season with a "Deb finds out" moment, and spent the next few months saying "well shit NOW what do we do".
-
Obviously, people don't just stroll in with comics and shit to sell. They held massive casting calls for people with stuff to sell. Interviewed them before hand and reviewed the items for sale. That's no secret. It's all over the damn website. And the show is getting decent ratings still, considering it's been pushed back to such an unsocial time slot. It averaged 1.0 last season in a better time slot. Plus it's still cheap to make. For someone who claims to like Kevin Smith, some people seem remarkably ignorant about how little he has to do with this show.
-
As tempting as it must have been to revert back to some cat and mouse between two great leads for at least a few episodes, they were smart enough to recognize the implausibility of it given how shit went down between them last time. Well played and can't fucking wait for next week.

Damn, watching Boardwalk Empire and Homeland back to back is so great. What a contrast.
by Tim
A thoughtful, immaculate looking, violent show that plays out like a great novel, followed by a thriller that just goes all in seemingly every week. Sunday night is awesome, and it has nothing to do with that terrible zombie show.
-
Everyone who has seen and alluded to next week's Homeland has implied something big occurs. I read it involves something featured this week, but even though it's not a spoiler, I'll stop there. This week's episode was an improvement over last week. I'm not as into Revenge this season, but if they keep making wardrobe choices like the black dress, it will increase the likelihood that I'll stay tuned.
-
Brilliantly written, directed and acted. Ray Stevenson is one scary motherfucker. More please.
-
John Locke no, actually, it was just some random-looking white guy. apparently (from the previews) he cuts the power during a party at the hotel and starts killing people next week.
-
I've never read the Dexter series myself, but the reports I hear from those that have say that this seems to be following the text. In the books Deb finds out and helps keep him safe. I also hear that the son starts showing the same traits as he gets older. Write THAT into the story Showtime!
-
jger - You have got to be fucking kidding. The relationships between Hank/Walt and Dexter/Debra are completely fucking different. How can you have seen the whole show and say that? Hank/Walt are related through marriage and are basically good friends. But Dexter and Deb have been siblings since childhood. They grew up together. They relied on each other ever since Harry died. What a ridiculous fucking statement...
-
in homeland. suddenly everyone notices brody is different. the increasingly nasty wife knows he is a muslim. the daughter knows he is. I like homeland but I cant see a third series in this show. I just cant. It shot its load in the First Season Finale.

My theory for how they can keep the Brody storyline going past S2.
by bender
I think somehow he'll escape and flee from America to Abu Nazir.
-
will simply be turned and used as a double agent.
-
i read somewhere the writers said at the end of season 2 they were facing the same dilemna they had at the end of season 1, which was whether or not to kill brody
-
Oct. 24, 2012, 11:32 p.m. CST
If Brody is "turned", and convinced to work for the USA, would that make him a reverse double-agent, or a triple agent?
by tritium
Is there even a term for this situation, lol?

I think I figured out the holy fuck moment of the next Homeland
by American Mythos
I was reading the synopsis, and one line caught my eye: In Homeland 2×05, ‘Q&A,’ Brody finds himself prisoner again, but this time it’s on American soil. Meanwhile, Carrie is forced to play second fiddle after her rash judgment call at the hotel as Estes is busy keeping Jessica off their trail. *Dana’s relationship with Finn goes to the next level when their date night turns deadly serious.* I think, and this is pure speculation, that Dana and Finn will be killed together in a terrorist attack, in retaliation for the death of Abu Nazir's son in the attack ordered by VP Walden. Dana will be collateral damage (Abu Nazir having had no knowledge that Dana would be present during the attack), but that will be the big moment that turns Brody against Abu Nazir. Tell me Herc, am I close? Better yet, let's just wait till Sunday.
-
He's not an intelligence agent for the U.S.--he was a soldier. Who became an agent for a jihadist. So if he's turned, he'll become a double agent, not a triple. And there are PLENTY of instances of that.
